  • The Dominant pentatonic scale is great to improvise over dominant (dom7) and Altered (Alt) chords. The dominant pentatonic scale is full of tension and character! The dominant Pentatonic scale is derived from the modal Mixolydian scale that is a mode of the major scale.

      Yes that is the sound. Also Eric Johnson is a frequent user of the this scale.

    Another great video. Everytime I hear Mixolydian Pentatonic I think of the song "Atonement" by Opeth. If playing over an alt chord, I would us it on the #5/b6 of that chord.
    Also, a video about the minor 6 Pentatonic scale and Kumoi would be a nice follow-up to this one. Minor sixth chords or Pentatonics played on the V or bii of a Dominant or alt chord give a functioning substitute for that dominant or altered chord.

    At 5:18 shouldn’t be the G note on the 10th (X) fret of the A string (and not IX) ?
