Really thanks Radec for presenting the new Kurzweil. Sounds wonderfull, better than anything else i know. Recommend strongly your channel because you really know what is important to hear sitting at home and listening to demos on RUclips. Keep up that good work. Hope there will be more Specs and price known soon! Would love to here the KB3 Organ specially the Rotor Effect, because this was a weakness all the years. Think about selling my Artis and get a PC4 76 keys!
It's really unfortunate that the stock Leslie effect is so poor, actually worse than later versions they put out on the PC3. I just don't understand. 3rd Party programmers are putting out better Leslie FX chains than Kurzweil here, and even those are still not quite as good as other things on the market. I now use a second tier with MainStage for my B3 stuff, but it would really be great to have a good sounding B3/Leslie right on the Forte/PC4.
@@EvilDragon666 thank god that in the meantime it is really possible to get solutions for a hammondsound whether it is HX3, VB3, B4, etc. etc. you name it and take whatever you like but I can´t understand this massive difference between the big ones and a lot of small companies who made it. Kurzweil, Roland, Korg and Yamaha to name a few...... can still not build a Hammond clone, their biggest problem.... the Rotor! First class in pianos, some good in EPs most of them bad in Organs. Hey some cheap androids on phones seem to understand more about the thing.
Nice playing! So many keyboard sounds... Which makes sense being a keyboard! However, since this is a workstation and thanks kurzweil for keeping the sequencer!! I'd like to hear other sounds as well, and hopefully not ones from the K2000.
I'd like to see a major update on sound engine instead of a simple refreshed FORTE with the PC4 label... I'm not convinced at all. Also the design looks old, the PC3 line (x, k, a) was thinner and portable...

well, the forte was awesome!! And now Kurzweil have added a very capable FM engine, 6 operator, using any sample as either carrier or modulator, that is rare! AND the FM engine is just one black in the VAST engine.
too bad the housing is huge... (and high, e.g. the strip under the keybed is very high 10cm i guess) I wish they would reintroduce the K2k+ (2500, 2600 etc) series, those where the real beasts. Top notch sounds, and top notch edit options and a very good housing.
Good video but should have led off with the acoustic pianos and went from there. Also, does the PC4 have great sounds to go along with these EPs and pianos?

Sounds pretty nice. Wish I could test one out, but Kurzweil dealers seem to be rare in Minnesota. I've got my Motif and Krome so I'm good for now, but I've always wanted to try either a Forte, Artis, or PC3K/4. Sounds pretty good to me, though I know the rom is not necessarily new. Sound is so subjective. I like Kurzweil's sounds generally, but again I've never heard them except over the internet, and an old PC2x playing piano at a concert once. I'm curious how good the build quality is when compared to the MOXF/MODX/Krome/Juno DS. The visual look is very nice IMO.
@@jumpingman8160 Depends on what type of choirs you like. I don't think they're the most natural choirs, my Yamaha boards are better, but if you're looking for a rock/metal/not 100% realistic etc type of choir, then it's fine. There are a large number of choir sounds.

@@jumpingman8160 By typing speech you mean where you can tell it what to say and it will say it? Software would be the only thing I can think of that can do that. Otherwise, Yamaha Motif/MOXF/Montage/MODX choirs are pretty good overall, and I've heard that some of the third party sound libraries can add a lot to. But if you're looking for a ton of flexibility with ultimate realism, then I do not know of a keyboard that can do that currently. Hello. Why can I load only 16 bit samples into the instrument? All samples on the market are currently 24 bit. I have to convert hundreds of multisamples to 16 bit or is there another way?

But generally these instruments have stopped in development in the previous century so the samples are also 16 bit 🙂 the most important that they have "new" FMPianos ... Who in general uses these really? Should I play songs of whitney houston on it? Such sounds are useful at the polish wedding party at the most. Maybe the company will eventually wake up in the 21st century and propose an instrument where the musicians decide what they want to have inside. By the way, I'm a fan of kurzweil, but after k2600 somehow I do not see an instrument on which I could spend $ 4000. Software is too good. if there was an instrument to which I am loading, for example, 5 gb of multisamples (in my case pipe organ from Hauptwerk) and I can play them in a few seconds after turning on the instrument ...and laptop stays at home. The sounds are nice, but not really new. The FM Synthese is interesting. But from my opinion, Kurzweil is still hanging in the 90th and not coming over to the 21th century.
I disagree. You can make almost any sound from vintage to modern. Especially modern synth sounds because of the VAST. There are also third party sounds for various genres edm, dubstep...you name it. Maybe it has a looks of old digital synths but it certainly is not limited to 90s just because it was popular in those years. That would be like saying a piano or hammond sounds are outdated today because they were popular in the past.
Looking at this video ruclips.net/video/rWlovdS7w9Q/видео.html it seems that Kurzweil is also hanging in 1983. The FM in this 4.00 looks like DX7. I mean seriously? And the same goes for Yamaha. The FM in Montage and MODX is just half of what was in FS1R. With Yamaha it seems that they just forgot or ignore what they had in SY77/99 (multiple feedbacks). I just wish that Bret Victor could have a chance to finish Alesis Fusion. You can do stuff with Fusion FM from 2005 that you can not do with Montage, MODX and (as it seems) Kurzweil also. I am sad :( My view is: after FM7/FM8, Alesis Fusion, why complicate with algorithms? Algorithms are thing of the past.
To be honest, the only downside of the PC3 series was that the software is not user friendly. You really need to get used to it. Had also some hardware problems, but I think that I got a bad version (factory error). Now it's ok. So I think this one will be really the beast (especially with 2GB user sample memory). I'm just waiting for PC461 or PC4K61 (88 keys are too much for me). Demo is not that good, but it's just a video from the exhibition. We will see the real demo after they release it.
They offer an editor. I think that's really the best way to go. Touch screens and stuff are nice but once they are damaged your synth is pretty much bricked. I personally can't gel with them. I got put off from my Kronos because of it. Same with the Montage and Quantum. The screen on the Kurz allows you to see what you are doing and get the sounds you want...but for deeper editing you can use your computer (Which is larger than most screens onboard synths anyway). This is how I go into deep edits for my Prophet synths and Moogs so there's no reason I can't do the same with the Kurzweil.
Any screen can go kaput. The Idea of having a big screen is to show you as maximum of information as possible while making it easy to work. Using an external editor defeats the purpuse of a wokstation. @@EverettDudgeon138
a very serious mistake committed by Kurzweil was to put the wheels on top ... like 4-wire keypads. I will not buy it for this very reason. I hate wheels upstairs! They are very uncomfortable.

Solid sounds but it’s so competitive and the over all bar has been raised. So everything sound good.
If this has seamless sound transition which the Forte does not then this maybe worth checking out. Other then that seems really good!
All Kurzweils do, I think. My PC3x does, and you can see the player change patches while the sound continues.

You can bet that KB3 and Leslie sound exactly the same as in Forte, no advancements there.

To be honest, the only downside of the PC3 series was that the software is not user friendly. You really need to get used to it. Had also some hardware problems, but I think that I got a bad version (factory error). Now it's ok. So I think this one will be really the beast (especially with 2GB user sample memory). I'm just waiting for PC461 or PC4K61 (88 keys are too much for me).
Demo is not that good, but it's just a video from the exhibition. We will see the real demo after they release it.

Still using those tiny screens? Come on Kurz... It's 2019.
They offer an editor. I think that's really the best way to go. Touch screens and stuff are nice but once they are damaged your synth is pretty much bricked. I personally can't gel with them. I got put off from my Kronos because of it. Same with the Montage and Quantum. The screen on the Kurz allows you to see what you are doing and get the sounds you want...but for deeper editing you can use your computer (Which is larger than most screens onboard synths anyway). This is how I go into deep edits for my Prophet synths and Moogs so there's no reason I can't do the same with the Kurzweil.

Any screen can go kaput. The Idea of having a big screen is to show you as maximum of information as possible while making it easy to work. Using an external editor defeats the purpuse of a wokstation. @@EverettDudgeon138

a very serious mistake committed by Kurzweil was to put the wheels on top ... like 4-wire keypads. I will not buy it for this very reason. I hate wheels upstairs! They are very uncomfortable.
that's the cost for saving some side space, i think at least 10cm.
