Amazing video as usual! I happened to do this journey about a week ago on the exact route up to Glasgow as it was much cheaper and there were only 2 of us doing the full journey! Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next one!
Very nice video. I took this exact service a year ago, 13:16 from Euston to Glasgow except it was a voyager, all the way under the wires for 6 hours 8 minutes 😅😅
Great video as usual. Myself and my wife travelled on Avanti West Coast first class and the standards of service we received couldn't have been further from what you received. We were given 1 sandwich each 1 cup of tea each and 1 can of Pepsi Max each. The Host came back to offer us more as we're approaching Preston, which was too late as we were getting off at Preston. Frankly I thought the service was diabolical.
Didn't have a cheese board in the first class lounge when we were first class. I'm sulking a bit right now 😂 Will just have to experience it again😉 Another great video, thank you for sharing.
I did the direct train from Glasgow to Preston and the long train from Edinburgh to Wolverhampton, (in the journey down, we had to shut the train down in Carlisle as there was an issue with the electrics on the train). As an area with only diesel trains, leccy trains are still a novelty for me.
Great video Jessica! That Toastie looked really nice apart from the mushroom that I personally dislike but overall Avanti first class looks brilliant! Maybe second best after LNER?
The plush first class seats on Avanti West are approx a billion times more comfortable than the wooden thrones with square concrete headrests on LNER. IMHO. 😉
Urgh, those headrests are the worst! A friend of mine rode with LNER last week and she told me the entire carriage no longer had them - not even stashed away somewhere. Clearly, they're getting the message so hopefully better replacements are coming soon. (Unlikely though!)
Hi Thanks for this video. I am visiting the UK for a month, 2 weeks in London, 3rd week in Glasgow and 4th week in Edinburgh.Coming from Toronto, my first visit to the UK. I am wondering is it better to take the train from London to Edinburgh for my 3rd week stay (and then go to Glasgow from Edinburgh for my 4th week) Is the London -Edinburgh trip much better and cheaper than the London to Glasgow journey, want to do First Class. Prefer direct routes. Thanks
Have you been on the new Class 805 Evero that are now in service to North Wales and Chester. And later this year the Class 807 Evero will begin service to Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North.
I have literally eaten and drunk my way through the menus on my First Class journeys between Edinburgh Waverley - Birmingham New Street with Avanti West Coast and their predecessor, Virgin Trains. LNER First Class service is comparable.
I also did a first class run for my 12th birthday with Avanti. But, It was just before lockdown and they did no food and it was just drinks. I did enjoy the first class lounge in London and Learning how to charge my phone on them damn charging ports 😂😂
Technically, going via Birmingham shouldn't be all that more time consuming than going via the Trent Valley line, so I don't know what Avanti are playing at, frankly.
The stopping patterns play a big factor here. Most fast trains are non-stop between London and Warrington, whereas the slow trains make 10 stops in the same distance
@@TravelSoGood Hm, I would guess so, but maybe just one a day that goes via Birmingham, and the only extra stops are Coventry, Birmingham International, Birmingham New Street and Crewe before you get to Warrington isn't beyond the wit of mankind, as is one where you swap out Coventry for Wolverhampton. Hey ho, rant over.
Absolutely brilliant again, loved this! X
Thanks again!

It's weird how a longer route can be cheaper... but then since when have UK train prices followed any logic?
I guess longer journey counts as more inconvenient so that's why it's cheeper perhaps.

You have my sympathies
I'm travelling with Avanti very soon this video has giving me a heads up thank you :)
Nice that you got two hot meals on the journey. LNER usually limit you to one on the similar journey to Edinburgh so that deserves extra points. 😀
The perks of taking the longer route, lol! We had three different crews too so they wouldn't have any idea what I had earlier in the trip
Great video as usual.

That's a shame. Was it a on a weekend by any chance? They really step down at weekends
@@TravelSoGood yes, it was a Saturday. However I suspect that the Host was doing the trolley for both First and Standard.

Always an excuse to do it again :)
Got to love a cheese board
Is it weird that spending most of the day on a train with snacks is my idea of heaven?
Not weird at all. It's mine too :)
@@TravelSoGood You're so wise =)

I mean... don't count your chickens just yet! I've got two more operators yet to review, hint hint ;)
@@TravelSoGood got ya!

Funny you should ask... I rode it earlier today! Vlog out in January :)
I have literally eaten and drunk my way through the menus on my First Class journeys between Edinburgh Waverley - Birmingham New Street with Avanti West Coast and their predecessor, Virgin Trains. LNER First Class service is comparable.
I'm curious, how often do they change their menus? If you're a regular traveller, it must get boring eating the same stuff all the time
Yay Coventry at 12:26 😊
What is that charging device called? I am very keen on getting one.
I've no idea! I like to call it Gregory though
wow what a great train lounge great service
It's not bad. I have notes though!
Looked a great selection of food and snacks. Plus access to the lounge a win win . Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed it 👍

The charging points are so weird! Why not just have a normal wire?
I do love the Pendolino not Birmingham New Street though. I even think the trains don't like it 😅
Only the toughest trains get through Birmingham
Great reviews, keep it up 👍 :)
Thanks, will do!
Doesn't compare to LNER for me. LNER for the win! ❤
Same. The Avanti seat is better, but LNER wins on pretty much everything else
