It is the best review on dismantling and assembly of N8 Nokia. I couldn't find better. In this video excellent light (it is very well visible hands of the author and a detail of the device), a close up and a pleasant and accurate voice of the author. I the first time disassembled old N8 Nokia. Many thanks for this video and greetings from Russia. God bless you !
I tried to disassemble my n8 to today and halfway through 2 little screw nuts in plastic casings fell out...i watched your video and you explained very clearly that the are the screw holders for the bottom cover...Excellent tutorial and high quality video!! Thumbs UP!
You are a savior...i accidentally put in my Lumia 920 micro SIM into my N8...followed your video and opened up my N8...got the SIM out and assembled it again...i had some difficulty in placing the two screw holders that take the initial two screws though...lucky i got them in and my N8 is also working as before...nothing broken...Thanks a lot!!
Thank you very much for this brilliant video. I managed to disassemble and repair my husband's N8, re-assemble & all now working - thanks to you! Very easy to follow. Female aged 59!
Still using this phone as a gps tracker and sat nav and occasional backup phone when the new one goes in for repair. Just changed the charger port and wouldn't have had a clue without your video. Thanks! All working again. Agree with the camera work comments, brilliantly shot
The battery of my N8 was finished. I ordered a new one and wanted to replace it. However it got swollen, and thus could not pull it out from its tab. I needed to disassemble the phone completely. Thanks to this great instruction I could do it! Thanks so much for the crystal clear instruction. It gives my N8 a second life!
My dear Friend. Thank You very much for teaching me how to fix my nokia n8 myself. I was not satisfied with the Nokia Assistance in São Paulo, Brazil. They inssisted that the main board was "dead" and had to be replaced. I just bought a new battery ( you tought me how to replace that) and as soon as I turned it on " VOILÁ", THE MAIN BOARD suddenly regained life! Some 3rd world technician pulled out the touch screen cable so it was not working. You tought me how to put that in place too; so I became a FAN! Thanks again! All the best!
Hi, I know I am a bit late to the party but I need to know how to fix the microphone. I can people hear talking to me but they cant hear anything. So I guess the microphone is to blame. I have already ordered a spair part. Thx for your help!
I must admit that after more than an hour trying to pull it off the thought to cut it open crossed my mind...thanks for the quick answer and the video of course!
That is one excellent video tutorial and thanks to your calm voice and precise information accompanied by the "do what you see", I'm now ready to replace my Dad's Nokia's case. I used your video before for the battery replacement and obviously it was of an immense help. Thank you so very much!
thanks to you I re-assembled my phone better than the Nokia Service partner in Egypt. I even noticed they F. up my Wi-Fi antenna very bad, and they lost one of the 2 clips. now I know why I cant connect to wifi few foot away. thanks man.
Thankyou very very much for your helpful tutorial. After my N8 fell onto the floor the camera did not work anymore. Black or snowy screen. After disassembling and assembling, the camera worked again. Wonderful! Maybe it was a problem with contacts. All the other functions are working too. It saved me from buying a new camera! Thanks again.
Just wanna say thanks again, my N8 was disassembled for quite some time while I was waiting for sim slot from china and my friend did the soldering. All parts were mixed up (as always, didn't bother sorting / marking them ), no way I'd new what goes where to re-assemble without watching this video again.
Excellent tutorial. Superb video clarity, accompanied by a calm and clear voice that just makes it look so easy. I wanted to replace the battery, but since it had bulged, the whole phone had to be disassembled. I'm so glad this video exists. :)
I've been using your videos and I would like to thank you for the time you take to do this for all of us. Every single one of your videos are so complete and thorough. My business definitely owes you a great big thank you. I learn something everyday and for that I am grateful.
Dude, thanks A LOT! I disassembled mine to clean the headset in jack, two small pieces fell off and i had no idea where they went! LOL... turned out it was the two lil' pieces that attach the two screws from the bottom. Really thorough, thanks again!
Brilliant - Methodical, clear and very helpful. Im a complete novice and used this to video to help me strip my phone and remove a micro sim pushed in by mistake. Superb, thankyou.
Really great guide. I have never seen a professional do this job like you. You took everything out and put it back to its original state. Believe me, not everyone in the world can do this.
What a brilliant tutorial -thankyou so much-if I had teachers like you at my school I would have learnt soo much more! Superb 1 2 3 removal and replacement! Even for a fat fingered plumber like me. Thankyou for taking the time and trouble and superb camera work. Keep up the great work. Phil
Without your perfect help I would not have been able to fix my problem with the micro usb port. Anyway I like your tutorial, so I already opened and closed my N8 several times, nearly just for fun!
Thank you very, very... VERY MUCH!!! This video really helped me, it was vital. In this moment I don't have the new battery yet and I hope when I receive it the phone will turn on normally. One thing I noticed is that you touched the circuits with the fingers and I did the same thing, it was very good to see the end of the video when you turned on the phone!!! I thought to take my phone to the authorized service but a long time ago I did it and in Mexico even the authorized technician stole you the parts. Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Thanks for your guide is really well done. I had to replace speaker and ringer without your video I was really in trouble. Excuse my English but I'm Italian
Dude, you helps me a lot!!! I've got some really necessary data on my old cellphone but the previous battery was dead and I can't recharge it. With your perfect tutorial (all the tuts should looks like that!) I changed battery, turn on the phone and got all the stuff I need. HUGE THANK YOU! Peace!
Had to open the phone up to retrieve a mini sim as I forgot which size sim it took, (having not used it in ages), from my Samsung S3... Stupid mistake but it did work and I could send and receive texts. Obviously when I came to take the thing out, it just got further and further wedged inside the sim housing... But, having your guide on here, made it pretty damn easy to open it up, retrieve the sim and put the phone back together again and it works! Now I wish I'd managed to source a mini usb port as that thing hasn't worked in months but I think it may require removing and re-soldering? I'm lucky I have another phone to use and this is just a backup though so not the end of the world. Great guide. Slowly paced enough to almost keep up, (with a few WTF pauses due to fingers too big for this sort of delicate operation), and very well explained. Thanks a lot!
Just a quick thank you. The video pretty-much did what it said on the tin. The only problem I had (apart from spending 20 minutes fin ding a dropped screw!) was that pesky top cover. I tried the "tape trick" but no way would it move, so I had to prise it off causing a little damage. Anyway, all back together and working, so thanks again.
The video was awesome! Thank you so much even though I didn't open up my phone nor I'll need to. It just was very informative since I was curious about the anatomy of my phone and how this thing is done. Best video of this procedure I've been able to find on the internet, good luck with your following videos. :)
Thanks for the video, I changed my earpiece and have the phone back together without a scratch thanks to you. I'd have done it anyway but I would have bits of tape and blu tack holding some bits on, as I wouldn't have had the patience to get all the clips back in place; seeing you do it took the stress out of it. +++
My N8 almost a year ago bathe in the river and eight hours was after it is turned on. I understand, dried and processed alcohol. Then gathered. Works successfully...
Thank you so much for this video !!! It's so concise & thorough I can’t see how one could possibly go wrong in following the process. Well done & thank you once again - easy to recommend this video !!!
took it apart and rebuilt again, gd news it now turns on I manages to get my sim card out and fix the spring but the slot is now buggered by that adapter. I wish that the shops would warn people as it seems to be a common problem. Thanx for ur helpful video anyway
hey man, thank you so much for this tut. I've just finished the assemblyand it works very well, two days ago went to the river and get kind of wet so, well the thing here its that it works pretty well, you save me a lot of money, see you
This video helped me when my sim card stuck in the slot. The only thing i did not manage to get right was the small metall clips @ 4:40 the bended and was destroyed so i skipped them. But the phone did not suffer from the loss anyway =) Works just phone now. Thanks
very good video with quality footage and easy to see and watch and listen to commentary easy to understand im going to be changing main board over to new phone body in the next day or so and this has helped a lot i wouldnt have known how to anything near as close with out your video & instructions many thanks.
Thanks for the lesson, I can't pull out my battery thus I need to used your steps to take out the batt and change a new ones. I'll try it out tmr night thanks again my friend.
put my micro sd card in the wrong slot and couldn't get it out and needed to disassemble but wouldn't have done it without this video. Excellent video ***** many thanks.
First of all - thank you! Second - I had to open almost the whole phone to get my battery out of it - it started to grow uncontrollably blocking the option to just pull it... So... if your N8 stops charging (or charges for 30 seconds just to be "dead" 2 minutes later)... might be a good indication your battery is plotting to kill you ;)
I have 2 batteries and I tried to charge it for 2 hours and unplug and 5 seconds later it dies. The charger port also doesn't charge if it isn't in the right angle and pressure
Wonderful! Although my N8 frame was slightly different (e.g. clips protruding over screws) I have been able to open it to extract some SIM remains from the slot. I would say that it is best to leave the lateral screws in place and only loosen them just enough to remove the bottom cap.

thanks!!! I had a problem with my Nokia n8 micro usb port. phone refused to charge and always showed "Connect usb cable to device" message. I disassembled phone, cleaned, micro usb port contacts and now it works:)))))
Thanks so much! Beautifully clear and simple instructions. When the part arrives I'll change my charging socket.... Is there any way of changing the micro usb socket? I love this phone too much...
Watched your other video about how to change battery, but mine would not come out *at all*. In the end, I found this video invaluable as I have just spent a few hours stripping down and rebuilding the phone just to get the battery out. Just as well I did, as it has 'bulged' in the middle, hence explaining why it wouldn't just slide out. Now It's all back together, no screws left at the end either, and it's up and running with a brand new battery inside, which slides in and out really easily :-) Wonder how long the old battery was in that condition, even though it was still giving reasonable life for a phone that was purchased about 3-4 years ago? Once again, thanks, and lovely close up video with easy to follow instructions. I have given thumbs up as you have provided essential assistance. I may have ended up breaking the damn phone in half had I continued trying to open it without your instructions.
I appreciate your response, I will try to do what I recommended, the speaker seems to be broken, listens very strong, can not explain, another question, how do I run the FM transmitter in the new housing, I have to remove some of the old housing? ???? thank you very much greetings from mexico
Thankyou so much for this informative video & instructions, I never would have been able to fit a new housing without it. I do have a question though, my camera button (on side) and volume buttons aren't working - could I have refitted them upside down? There was a thing bit of metal stuck to the inside case on the old housing, and I didn't put it in the new housing - that was close to the camera lens area on top right of back cover. Any advice would be much appreciated, many thanks. Z
hi mate great clear video.. i have a little issue the scream removal screws at the top. i`ve managed to only open one the other just won`t open and the screw driver just dosen`t lock on to it

Every single one of your videos are so complete and thorough. My business definitely owes you a great big thank you. I learn something everyday and for that I am grateful.
For non user-replaceable battery, that pretty easy to replace. :O
Great build quality all around. No plastic nobs or glue.
Dude, thanks A LOT! I disassembled mine to clean the headset in jack, two small pieces fell off and i had no idea where they went! LOL... turned out it was the two lil' pieces that attach the two screws from the bottom. Really thorough, thanks again!

Very good guide to disassemble the phone, when your daughter puts a small sim card all the way to the end I was able to fish it out no trouble.

Awesome step by step tutorial, successfully disassembled and assembled my N8 just now.

You made my day with the tape trick to remove the top plastic cover! Thanks. I was going mad trying to remove that thing.
That was cool man! the world need more people like you, thanks.
Nice work! It helped me remove a mistakenly inserted micro sim card. No way to get the card out except by taking the phone apart. All good now.
The video was awesome! Thank you so much even though I didn't open up my phone nor I'll need to. "Thanks a lot, I repaired the loudspeaker following this tutorial, really, thanks."

Hi, Many thanks. This is a great video for those who want to learn or repair their Nokia N8 device.

thank you so much for providing this video to us..it make us more easy in assembling n disassembling nokia N8..
put my micro sd card in the wrong slot and couldn't get it out and needed to disassemble but wouldn't have done it without this video.
Brilliant!!
Just repaired my phone using this video and now it works properly :D
Thankyou
Wonderful!
Although my N8 frame was slightly different (e.g. clips protruding over screws) I have been able to open it to extract some SIM remains from the slot.
I would say that it is best to leave the lateral screws in place and only loosen them just enough to remove the bottom cap.
Thanks so much. My N8 is reborn again.
thx for this excelent video ,with it i repaired and cleaned my n8 because i dropped it in water thx again ?you rock keep up the good work!!!!!
Thanks a lot, I repaired the loudspeaker following this tutorial, really, thanks.
Thank you very much for the diassembly of Nokia N8 video , this is very helpful for me .
Usefull when you want to salvage the Screen and the board components. Nice!
Awesome video! thanks a lot for the walkthroug and for beeing kind enough to share with all of us...
really helped me a lot with the mantainance of my N8.
Superb Job done ... That was the detailed one ... And also included reassembly... WOW....
Best Nokia N8 Tutorial - Thanks for sharing!
Thank You for a fantastic tutorial. i've just changed my loudspeaker.
Excellent.
Thanks again
WOWSER they made it so simple to repair this phone.
Thanks, this guided me well disassembling my N8.
The upper part removal was very frustrating, mine held very strong, it took a few sellotapes, and eventually a stronger threaded tape to rip it out. Succeeded with several burst-type strong pulls.
I want to replace the SIM slot I broke... it sits there tight and I'm starting to come to conclusion it might be soldered there. Can I replace it myself with rather mediocre soldering gun? I've got rosin, tin and acid as well.
Any videos on how to replace the micro usb port on the n8?
Would greatly appreciate it, especially if it were possible using a soldering iron and not the hot air station required for other items mentioned before.
Used your guide for replacing the digitizer last year and it was a godsend as nokia wouldn't cover any accidental damage. Thanks!
Thanks for reply. Now I'll definitely turn to a professional to do this replacement job, last time I tried soldering N95 myself I totally wrecked it :)
thanks!!! I had a problem with my Nokia n8 micro usb port. phone refused to charge and always showed "Connect usb cable to device" message. I disassembled phone, cleaned, micro usb port contacts and now it works:)))))
Tape worked a treat for me, thanks for the tip mate.
Thanks a ton for this, it made replcements more of a certainty and less guesswork :)
Very well done video, thanks. On my N8 I had to use a T4 where you used a T5.
Thanks so much! Beautifully clear and simple instructions. When the part arrives I'll change my charging socket.... Is there any way of changing the micro usb socket? I love this phone too much...
Thank for replying, I put the screws back in & it guided it back....all sorted,
thanks
Watched your other video about how to change battery, but mine would not come out *at all*.
In the end, I found this video invaluable as I have just spent a few hours stripping down and rebuilding the phone just to get the battery out.
Just as well I did, as it has 'bulged' in the middle, hence explaining why it wouldn't just slide out.
Now It's all back together, no screws left at the end either, and it's up and running with a brand new battery inside, which slides in and out really easily :-)
Wonder how long the old battery was in that condition, even though it was still giving reasonable life for a phone that was purchased about 3-4 years ago?
Once again, thanks, and lovely close up video with easy to follow instructions. I have given thumbs up as you have provided essential assistance. I may have ended up breaking the damn phone in half had I continued trying to open it without your instructions.
:-)
Hey man, many many thanks. You just save my N8.
I appreciate your response, I will try to do what I recommended, the speaker seems to be broken, listens very strong, can not explain, another question, how do I run the FM transmitter in the new housing, I have to remove some of the old housing? ????
thank you very much
greetings from mexico
Great! Thank you so much for that. It helped me out while disassemble it to resolder the broken usb port without damage the hardware :)
Hoy voy a reemplazar una pantalla, este video me va a servir mucho! Gracias
Thankyou so much for this informative video & instructions, I never would have been able to fit a new housing without it. I do have a question though, my camera button (on side) and volume buttons aren't working - could I have refitted them upside down? There was a thing bit of metal stuck to the inside case on the old housing, and I didn't put it in the new housing - that was close to the camera lens area on top right of back cover. hi mate great clear video..
