Just got mine about a month ago. She found me at work when I was near a park. Crawled right on my boots and I knew I was claimed. Had to leave her there until after work and I came back for her. She is my whole world now
I've had a Russian Blue for several years. I'm her guy. LOL She tolerates my wife (especially when SHE feeds her), but hangs around me everywhere I go. She isn't full-blooded, but has 100% of the Russian Blue characteristics. Great cats!!
I got my Russian blue who is a rescue three months ago. No regrets here! He's a little tornado, and so intelligent and sooooo cuddly, what a little cuddle bug❤️ He's actually sleeping on me as I write this. It has taken my older cat some adjusting, but I think he's growing on him!

I had a Russian blue: 21 years with my boy Misty. Could not care less about me, just wanted to snuggle up to my mum. 😅 Loved him to bits, but man alive he was spoiled. He ate better than I did. 😁

A metal litter box is a better choice as it is easier to clean and doesn't absorb odors. I also mix the litter with some baking soda to also absorb odors. Cats have a sense of smell 14X a human so if they smell even a little odor in the litter they will look for another place to do their 'business"

I’d been wanting a grey kitten for a long time my daughter in picture surprised me for Mother’s Day with a grey kitten that someone couldn’t keep found out it’s a girl didn’t know what breed, I had a maintenance issue in my apartment the maintenance guy kept looking at my kitten he asked me what she was I said I don’t know, he left to get supplies he needed when he came back he told me she’s a Russian blue another tenant has one she looks just like her cat I’d never heard of Russian blue so I looked it up online she has all the characteristics of Russian blue had her checked by vet got shots and spayed. Her license has her as a Russian blue the crazy thing about her is she had been fostered twice before I got her a woman with three little ones. Couldn’t keep her so she called my sons girlfriend who called my daughter to see if she wanted the kitten we got her for 40.00 dollars not knowing well she is in a very loving home a forever home now she’s 10 months old now

Hi Venkat, so sorry to here about one of your kittens. Yes, Russian Blue cats are medium sized cats, so if you have a big cat, he might dominate him/her. If you get a male, the difference would be less. Let me know how it goes when you get your Russian Blue, love to hear how it worked out.

Just got my RB kitten 2 weeks ago! So adorable and is quite the explorer. He isn't as cuddly as yours on my lap. He tends to prefer snuggling beside me and near me, not on me. Is yours vocal? Specifically around meal time and food?
Ohw Nice. They are such beautiful creatures. Yes, my RB is very cuddly. Today he has had his neutering (will be in the next video). He's used to be vocal during meal time, but it seems in the beginning he still had trouble finding where he should go. After a few weeks he knew where to find his food and water. I have been free feeding him up until now. Free feeding seemed to work as he'd never over eat. When he was full, he stopped. Now after his neutering, this morning, I have decided to switch to 3 meals as they tend to eat more after neutering. He is vocal however when he wants to go out. I started to let him out on the balcony, and he really likes it, so he sometimes sit in front of the door being very vocal. Unfortunately he cannot go out for the next 3 days. If you make a video, I can enjoy your Russian Blue 😊

Hahahah, I did the same, but didn't need the beers ;). To make him feel welcome I chose some toys the breeder also used. Make sure he/she has a vertical space he/she can climb, like a tall scratching tree, otherwise he/she will be climbing up the curtains and other stuff. He did try that a few times, but you need to correct them with a firm NO. It took mine 1,5 week to get used to his surroundings thou. The first few days I did feel he was looking for him mom and siblings. So make sure to play with him a lot, especially if it is a kitten, they are high energy. Ohw, and keep up the beatboxing 👌

Hi Gitaa, I got him at 12,5 week. This is better for a kitten. Some get kittens at 6 - 8 week, which is deemed to young. They still learn a lot from the mother and littermates in the first weeks. A kitten gets corrected by the mom and his/her brothers and sisters. Mine is well behaved and has never scratched me. It does't mean younger kitten will be less behaved, but you have a more well rounded kitten if it stays longer with its mom. We love our Russian blue, Bailey! A great cat. I do have to put a warning out there about them though. If you wake up one morning (I’m 60 years young) and you feel pressure in your chest, open your eyes. It’s not a heart attack, it’s your blue laying on your chest. The purring is also a give away! Hi Davin, I made sure he had lots of places to sleep and toys to play with to keep his mind of his "big move". I do think that he missed his mother and brother for the first two weeks. I had this feeling he was looking for them breaking my heart a bit. He's fine now with me, but try to give a kitten as much love and attention you can give them as they are still babies. Luckily due to the global pandemic I;m still working from home and can give him all the attention he wants. This will change next year however.

Male cats can spray around the house to mark their territory FEmale cats don't do that. According to what I found on the internet, male cats are friendlier/more cuddly. I have to say my male Russian Blue always wants to sit on my lap. So he's very unlike what a Russian Blue is supposed to be (aloof). He likes my presence and like to sit on my. But maybe it's because it's getting colder 😂

Hey, dankjewel. Ik heb hem meteen toegang gegeven aangezien ik in een appartement woon en ik het zielig vond om hem in een nog kleinere ruimte, zoals één kamer, te laten wennen. Sowieso ben ik niet van huisdieren in de slaapkamer. Hij mag soms onder supervisie neuzen in de slaapkamers. Wel had ik zijn box in het begin in de woonkamer staan, zodat hij die makkelijk kon vinden. Deze heb ik langzaam aan verplaats naar de huidige plek. Als je een groot/eengezinshuis hebt, zou ik um wel tot 1 verdieping beperken in het begin en zo langzaam laten wennen. Als het te groot is, kan je het risico lopen dat hij/zij de weg naar zijn box/toilet niet goed weet te vinden de eerste paar dagen.
Here in the Netherlands (Europe) they go between €900 - €1000. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but seeing this is a pedigree cat, it's not going to be cheap.

If you get them from a reputable breeder the would have had vaccinations, anti-flea and deworming done. Some breeder don't want their cats to be bred with and will also get them neutered. A reputable breeder will take good care of the cat and that's why they are more expensive other than the fact they are purebred with papers (which is most of the cost thou).
Hi, no Russian Blues tend not to shed much. I have to clean more, but that comes with the territory of owning a pet. I'm very happy with the little amount of shedding of Neji.
Hi, where do you live? Because I can only advise you on breeders in the Netherlands, which is where I live. For other Countries you might have a look at some Facebook groups fro Russian Blues.
I use a wood pellet litter system. When a cat pees on the wood pellets, it turns into sawdust. If you shake the litter box the sawdust falls through the the bottom of the first layer, which uses a grate/sieve system. No, Russian Blues in general tend to shed less, but also giving it high quality food minimizes this. Bear in mind that living with a pet, you'll always will have to deal with hairs and more cleaning.
Hi Jen, this is a hard question to answer as everyone spend a different amount on food and toys. The initial cost were high, now it's only food everyday. Having a cat is like having a child. It can be expensive and you need to keep in mind it can become sick, so vet bills will lay in the future.

Hi Davin, I made sure he had lots of places to sleep and toys to play with to keep his mind of his "big move". I do think that he missed his mother and brother for the first two weeks.
I had this feeling he was looking for them breaking my heart a bit. He's fine now with me, but try to give a kitten as much love and attention you can give them as they are still babies. Luckily due to the global pandemic I;m still working from home and can give him all the attention he wants. This will change next year however.

Male cats can spray around the house to mark their territory FEmale cats don't do that. According to what I found on the internet, male cats are friendlier/more cuddly. I have to say my male Russian Blue always wants to sit on my lap. So he's very unlike what a Russian Blue is supposed to be (aloof). He likes my presence and like to sit on my. But maybe it's because it's getting colder 😂

Hey, dankjewel. Ik heb hem meteen toegang gegeven aangezien ik in een appartement woon en ik het zielig vond om hem in een nog kleinere ruimte, zoals één kamer, te laten wennen. Sowieso ben ik niet van huisdieren in de slaapkamer. Hij mag soms onder supervisie neuzen in de slaapkamers. Wel had ik zijn box in het begin in de woonkamer staan, zodat hij die makkelijk kon vinden. Deze heb ik langzaam aan verplaats naar de huidige plek. Als je een groot/eengezinshuis hebt, zou ik um wel tot 1 verdieping beperken in het begin en zo langzaam laten wennen. Als het te groot is, kan je het risico lopen dat hij/zij de weg naar zijn box/toilet niet goed weet te vinden de eerste paar dagen.

Here in the Netherlands (Europe) they go between €900 - €1000. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but seeing this is a pedigree cat, it's not going to be cheap.

If you get them from a reputable breeder the would have had vaccinations, anti-flea and deworming done. Some breeder don't want their cats to be bred with and will also get them neutered. A reputable breeder will take good care of the cat and that's why they are more expensive other than the fact they are purebred with papers (which is most of the cost thou).

Hi, where do you live? Because I can only advise you on breeders in the Netherlands, which is where I live. For other Countries you might have a look at some Facebook groups fro Russian Blues.

Why does your litter box has to layers? I'm just wondering if it's better...
I use a wood pellet litter system. When a cat pees on the wood pellets, it turns into sawdust. If you shake the litter box the sawdust falls through the the bottom of the first layer, which uses a grate/sieve system. No, Russian Blues in general tend to shed less, but also giving it high quality food minimizes this. Bear in mind that living with a pet, you'll always will have to deal with hairs and more cleaning.

Hi Jen, this is a hard question to answer as everyone spend a different amount on food and toys. The initial cost were high, now it's only food everyday. Having a cat is like having a child. It can be expensive and you need to keep in mind it can become sick, so vet bills will lay in the future.
