Yes. High schools require languages. Hearing students can pick which language to learn Spanish or French or German or ASL. Mostly, they want to take Spanish than ASL. But over time, ASL is keeping growing. I noticed more and more hearing people know some sign languages. Last week, I went to meet my deaf friend near San Francisco Airport. The four ladies saw me signing language. She stopped me and said hi with hand sign language to me. I said, You know sign languages ? She yes. I learned ASL for two years. It was cool.

Wow! But in 1992 I, Deaf American flew to travel UK, Holland, France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany in winter for 2 weeks. European people were easy to talk to in gesture than hearing Americans. Now many USA schools and colleges teach ASL that make easy talk with everybody. Thank you for share your experience with us! 🤟🏻
Still teach sign language in college and there are hearing high school have deaf program but not many have deaf program at hearing high school but college have sign language classes depend on if they have deaf community well know in some locations but not all of Deaf community are treated equally in America it depend on hearing people in America

Here in Texas have hearing children to adult learning ASL in class too also at college too. There in Netherlands should learning no matter what.
