      I would bet $100 that it was Tinos bitchahh idea and told Don Torrisi "Let the carusu oversee the mines. He came from them. He knows how things operate"

    • @GoliathWarfare
      @GoliathWarfare 2 months ago +350

      He thought Cesare was saying he was sorry for trying to kill him earlier and thought he would be grateful for Enzo sparing his life. Enzo was too good hearted, he didn't think Cesare would hurt him after he just let him live when he didn't have to. Thats what makes it even more tragic. Cesare sucks 😡

    • @LangkeeLongkee
      @LangkeeLongkee 2 months ago +202

      Sure but the point was that Enzo was always naive. It’s not an out of no where did it for the plot, it’s a consistent character trait of his.

    to be honest, we shoulve played the Isabella part before enzo gets killed so when she finally leaves the state and before she sees cesare it cuts to before on enzos part and you get to see cesare kill enzo and then we cut back to isabella getting the news from cesare and leaving.

    • @spark1400

      shows you how messed up this 'family' is... then again, it wasn't a real family just henchmen used as weapons for a mobster. Yet this is the moment the Don Torrisi mirrors Spadero where all of Spadero's men tried to kill him.

    After everything Enzo has done for the family you would think him marrying the don's daughter wouldn't be crazy even though they did it behind his back for good reasoning, he never seen Enzo as family just a carusu and someone he can use.

    • @GoliathWarfare
      @GoliathWarfare 2 months ago +227

      Yeah, they also just didn't roll like that back then. He was super protective of the daughter and they weren't connected to them emotionally like we were. He was never gonna let one of his hired killers be with his daughter. Like Luca said, being seen with the Don's daughter alone is stupid.

    • @asherandall7441
      @asherandall7441 2 months ago +205

      The don was using his daughters hand in marriage as part of a business move to bring the Torrisi and Fontanella families together so it makes sense. You gotta remember the times that this is set in.

    • @trim.kz1
      @trim.kz1 2 months ago +86

      @asherandall7441 I agree 100 percent but I feel like it gets to a point, Enzo did everything for that man no questions asked. The Don said in his own words anything you want you can have it, it’s just sad to see.

    • @jayromeo_19
      @jayromeo_19 2 months ago +147

      They never viewed him as anything more than an attack dog. He had been with them for several years at this point, and even though he did everything they ever asked of him, as soon as they found out what he did, they went right back to viewing him as if he was there for only a day.

    • @asherandall7441
      @asherandall7441 2 months ago +35

      @trim.kz1 We all know the don did not mean his daughter. Even in general a relentless murderer is prolly not someone you'd want your daughter to marry even if he murdered for you. Enzo was too naive cos he knew Torrisi wanted Isabella to marry fontanella but still held out hope he would get his permission. Unfortunately for Enzo his upbringing or lack thereof did not allow him to understand the people around him and the situations he was dealing with

  • @J.washington94
    @J.washington94 2 months ago +507

    Playing as Isabella after killing off Enzo was a terrible storyline choice by Hangar. You just killed off the main character and now we’re doing a David vs Ellie stealth battle with Timo as final boss like we care?? The immersion is gone.

    Fun fact I learned:
    the rumbling sound effect you hear at the start of new chapters 2:25 is the actually the sound from the volcano at the end, so basically Enzo is remembering everything within his last moments as you play the game, very bittersweet.
    Another fun fact that many probably noticed is that the music that plays when Isabella sees the buildings in New York, is the mafia 2 soundtrack - gave me chills lmao

    1:42:25 this ending really messed with me, Mafia is undeniably good, I just wish it didn’t have to be Enzo as he never really got the chance to live his own life and died where he started to begin with

  • @uchechiblxckgoddess
    @uchechiblxckgoddess 2 months ago +119

    Out of all the mafia protagonists, Enzo deserved his fairytale ending. He came from less than nothing and then joined a family that he ALWAYS did right by. He never betrayed them not once (besides date Isabella but only the arrogant Don and his lil sheep see it as betrayal). He did the job and gave the Don everything HE wanted; to own more land and money through the mines.
    Tommy in Mafia 1 got to live old and got killed for being a snitch which is reasonable. Boring ass Vito in Mafia 2 got to leave even though he had nothing going for him and had no drive if we're being honest. ENZO HOWEVER, had drive, compassion, perseverance, honor, loyalty, and love in his heart; and this is the ending he gets??? I absolutely hate it. The amazing story just soiled by this disrespectful ending. And they had the nerve to rub salt in the wound by killing him in the mines??
    I want to know what the reason is for this choice. Shock value? The good ol' "eVeN gOoD gUyS fInIsH lAsT" trope? I hate when beautiful stories think they MUST "be edgy" and do their honorable protagonists dirty like this. Just not necessary

    • @lustrousient
      @lustrousient Month ago +4

      I feel the same way. A piece of work is not automatically more profound because the protagonist dies at the end. It might be realistic i some cases, but Enzo really did deserve a happier ending. I kind of thought they were going to do a romeo and juliet thing where Isabella dies too, which is probably the only way this ending could’ve been worse. I guess I can at least be thankful for that…

    • @leonardobatista1754
      @leonardobatista1754 Month ago

      best I can say is womp womp, vito literally living with regret for the rest of his life, Enzo to their eyes is INFACT a betrayyal, Luca straight up warn him that even being seen with her is retarded, and Don dont even see him much but a tool, another thing Luca pretty much wanted u to be out, same for Leo who actually tried to get him out cuz he knows its a bad business, u cant expect everything have a happy ending especially mafia , the only one who really get to live his life is Tommy lol

    • @kenyattafrazier
      @kenyattafrazier 2 months ago +7

      @imokay3193Isabella’s escape is poorly written?? That’s specifically what I’m talking about, not the other stuff. Everything before it was badly written, yes, we are in agreement. Now why was playing as Isabella such an issue AFTER all that? That’s my question. I played the same stuff and had a lot more gripes about the game than he did during his play through but even I didn’t have an issue with the little Isabella mission

    • @imokay3193
      @imokay3193 2 months ago +94

      @kenyattafrazierBecause there was no reason for any gameplay POST Enzo dying, the Isabella escape should've happened before that then, it was not rewarding we KNOW what will happen, there was no reason they couldn't have made that last sequence a cutscene, Tino should NOT have been the final boss, the order of events and ending is all poorly written, you enjoying it doesn't mean it's not badly written.

    • @kenyattafrazier
      @kenyattafrazier 2 months ago +7

      @imokay3193I just don’t agree with that. I don’t see why you’re saying it should’ve happened beforehand, the ending involved Chesare letting her go and handing her the tickets to do so, it literally couldn’t have happened the other way around and it doesn’t hurt anything happening that way. The ending was already trash well before that. I don’t disagree that they COULD have made it a cutscene, but again, not a huge gripe. He was going in on it, it was not that deep, the shit before that was atrocious. Nobody saying anything isn’t badly written, it was just such a small thing after they had already ruined the ending that I dont even see how you could be upset about it.

    2. Their baby is likely a girl named Rosa. When Isabella has to escape the room, there is a letter next to the suitcase that Berlin didn't choose. It states that Enzo wants the babies name to be Rosa (the name of Isabella's late mother).
    Great series Berlin, always loved the mafia series and your gameplay ❤.

      Right! I really need him to try 3. The gameplay does loop a little but it really didn't bother me in my first playthrough. 1, its mafia, all of the gameplay is similar. 2, a lot of the main story missions are interesting deviations, its mainly the side missions and fetch quests that repeat. 3, the story carries HARD. Its phenomenal

    The developers killing off Enzo left a sour taste in my mouth. The fact that they had Enzo somehow think Cesare was actually going to help after literally trying to kill him. Tommy’s ending was understandable but this one here left a sour taste in my mouth. Especially given the fact that Enzo was fighting for his life and freedom but somehow immediately drops his guard. And why is the side character the final guy? You literally just beat the final boss before getting snaked by a side character and then finishing the game by killing another side character. But aye, not everything can have a happy ending but at least give us multiple endings to have a good ending if this was going to be the option. Enzo’s life literally began and ended in the very place he dreamed of escaping. Absolutely pathetic on the developers’ part. I don’t feel sad but rather robbed and cheated as a player and a fan of the series. It’s like they went for shock value instead of following through on a good story like they do in pro wrestling. But aye, man. Great gameplay.

    My first red flag for Cesare was his name before anything else. He shares his name with Cesare Borgia, an infamous figure in late 1400s Italy, son of the Pope who conducted himself a lot like a mafia boss. Cesare Borgia was a notorious hothead who was similarly chained to the service of his father’s interests and was even made a cardinal in the Vatican despite wanting to be a soldier. He eventually became a soldier but most of his squabbles pertained to maintaining his father’s political interests. MOST importantly, there were rumours that he killed his brother Juan who was his father’s favourite son. When the Pope died, Cesare’s power and influence died with him because his nepobaby status didn’t matter with the Pope gone.
    This game’s Cesare and Cesare Borgia share A LOT of parallels. Mafia Cesare is also a philandering and power hungry man, chained to service an older father figure through crime and nepotism. He too kills a brother like figure, Enzo, and then returns to the villa as it’s burning - the Don’s legacy burning with it. I know Berlin didn’t care much for the ending🤣 but I will say the writers definitely set up quite a few hints as to how it would end along the way🙏🏾

    Cesare killing Enzo was the ultimate betrayal, but it makes sense in the world they live in. Loyalty to the mafia kills everything good. Enzo tried to break free for love, but love isn’t enough to dismantle the system. Betrayal always leads to betrayal, and that’s why Cesare did what he did. He didn’t harm Isabella because that was still family, but he never really saw Enzo as family, even though Enzo spared him earlier

    • @4jnaaa
      @4jnaaa 2 months ago +24

      It was irritating that Cesare still went through with it, but in the mafia family means more than mercy. Enzo broke rules, he tried to fight against the system, and in the end he got crushed by it. Just like in Mafia 1 and Mafia 2, the system can’t be broken, no matter how much the protagonist tries, it always come back to get them (Tommy from Mafia 1 Great example)

    5:30 It's interesting to note that Torrisi always says "what you've become" rather than "who you've become" which lends credence to the idea that he doesn't see Enzo as a person or loyal subordinate but rather a tool. What he has become, in Torrisi's eyes, is a weapon. I haven't watched the rest of the video yet, so we'll see how it turns out.

    • @asherandall7441
      @asherandall7441 2 months ago +106

      I feel like its more of a principal thing. For Cesare when he took that oath he meant it and he lived by it. You can't kill the don and just walk off into the sunset. A man who lives by a code doesn't just break that code cos noones around. He also had no idea that everything had burned down. All in all Cesare wanted respect and he wanted to take over. He couldn't get that if Enzo is alive and well after what happened.

    • @BrickwallStudios0
      @BrickwallStudios0 2 months ago +63

      He was jelaous of Enzo, and everyone thought he was an idiot you can see it throughout the game. So he probably thought "boss is dead, Enzo is the top guy that would be in my way, I will be the new Don and own that big estate" - In the meantime everyone was dying and the estate has burned down, so he lost it all really.

    • @qwertydora5590
      @qwertydora5590 2 months ago +38

      @asherandall7441 I think it was jealousy more than principle. for Enzo, he had the opportunity to be “everything” in Cesare’a eyes, but he chose not to take that and instead sought something greater from a humanistic standpoint. But for someone like cesare who has proven himself to be a shallow, philandering man through the entire series, he can’t understand that sacrifice and choice that Enzo made. He didn’t respect Enzo’s choice, and overall I think he was still jealous that Enzo even had the opportunity to make a choice at all, and so he decided to make that known by taking away Enzo’s choice to do anything else moving forward.

    I feel like the 2 end fight scenes should have been flipped… after the scene inside of the mines, Enzo should have crawled out and been recovering and then it cuts to Isabella and then she has her scene and she doesn’t see who she sees at the end but instead finds the thing she needs for the final scene in the house somewhere. Then it cuts back to Enzo and his boss battle and ENDING and then the final shot is the land burning. Then it cuts to the boat scene. That would have made more sense and kept the epic story feeling epic! 😌

      @jameskloslow2068 but he literally saw that Enzo killed the Don so I don’t think it should’ve taken him getting all the way back to the Vineyard to realize that he killed Enzo in vain, because in reality he should’ve never killed Enzo. When trust is broken in the mafia then the mafia code must be upheld regardless of personal feelings that means said member needs to be executed and that's how the mafia has always been. He stayed loyal to the family until the end. He chose to upheld the mafia code instead of doing the right thing unfortunately 😢

    Im finna yap so skip if you dont wanna read it.
    Berleezy not being able to connect with Isabella's section of the game lowkey breaks my heart. because the first thought for me after Enzo died was "what's going to happen to Isabella and the baby?" if the game just ends after Enzo dies, then it would have been safe to assume that isabella would have been forced to have an abortion and then probably sold off into whatever power grab marriage Tino could organise (because he sure as shit werent going to let Ceasare take over the Torissi empire) and that would have been it. Isabella would have just been another victim of a patriarchal system, seen and treated as an object to be handled.
    Seeing her fight instead of fold gave me relief. To be honest that's one of few things I found unrealistic about the game (aside from henchman fighting on an active volcano eruption instead of running. Could never be me, Don Torissi woulda had to fight me too cause im getting theeee fuck off that mountain lol) a noble daughter, consistently reminded she has no choice in her future, is torn from the love her lifes arms by the men she had grown up with, now awaiting the town doctor to arrive in order to abort the baby shes carrying of her love. Yeah more often than not, that would have played out exactly as men like Tino would have wanted.
    But... Isabella choosing to escape and fight is just a testament to the character they had been building in the background. A young woman whose well aware of the assigned place she has in this world, still choosing to dare against it.
    I dunno bruh, im just yapping. Im just glad Isabella and the baby are safe.

      I think it was more so the lack of motivation to play her escape after confirming Enzo was dead. I would have preferred if they left us on a bit of cliff hanger before switching to her escape. It would have been more compelling because players would still have some hope Enzo was alive. After escaping, we’d run into Cesare standing over Enzo and have our souls crushed right along with her.

    My thing with the ending is that after Enzo dies there's literally no reason for us to play as Isabella after. It's not rewarding, we KNOW what's gonna happen, there was no reason for that whole sequence to not just be a cutscene. I don't know why they didn't put the Isabella stealth horror part BEFORE the part where Cesare stabs Enzo (and we get the initial reveal). There's just no reason to have any gameplay post Enzo dying.

    A lot of people mentioning how Enzo was dumb for being naive with Cesare, and how he was holding hands with Isabella in the train station and acting all lovey dovey with her, but it all fits with Enzos character. He was ALWAYS naive when it came to people, he grew up just following rules, and when it comes to people, he’s very trusting and lacking of social skills/ cues, if we truly see his personality outside of how loyal and strong he is, he’s very weak when it comes to social skills, if it wasn’t for Isabella, he would have never realised he’s being used as a puppet by her father, and for the better or worse, he would have even stayed in that life and wholly believed it’s what’s best for him, Isabella opened up his eyes to what’s beyond survival, that’s literally the only reason why he rebelled. Enzo dying by Cesares hands is the sad conclusion
    + A lil extra, but a really cool comparison to Isabella and Enzos inner circle is how the people around them treated them when they needed help escaping.
    Isabella fully realises who’s to trust and what the people around her ( esp the men ) because she knows not everyone’s family, not everyone is deserving of trust, and was heavily restricted and imprisoned by her closest family, making her way more careful with who she truly should ask help, and when she did, none of them betrayed her, especially since the women sympathise with her too and know how she feels, she still doesn’t go to just anyone, but specific people she knows care for her for who she is, not just her status.
    Enzo however, didn’t grow up worrying about his inner circle, or how to socially interact with people, even in the beginning, his character was always simply a ‘follower’, his friend in the mines was the one who suggested going to America, and because he was surrounded with people who suffered, he couldn’t fathom other people would still want to put others down who are suffering with them, hence why when Cesare came up to him, he truly believed they were at the same standing, both suffering, both wanting help, both willing to accept each other and be a family, “just the two of us”, but even in a circumstance like that, people still put each other down. His trusting of everyone’s word, everyone he truly cares for, no matter who they are, and his inner circle instead used him for that, because he grew only worrying about survival, he couldn’t think of doing anything else but that, until Isabella first met him, and they both saw in each other what the other couldn’t, Freedom to be who they want to be, one they both could achieve, with how Enzo could see Isabella as more than just her status ( treating her with kindness out of his own heart, not out of loyalty for her father) and Isabella allowing him a chance to live and not simply survive ( A really significant scene I think in this case was when they bonded over cameras, Enzo didnt have to spend his time learning it and using it, but Isabella gave him a chance to enjoy the simpler things and what she enjoys, taking pictures and sharing it together, finding joy in hobbies and interests, more than just killing and serving others) which is why their love for each other is so significant, so much that Enzo was able to see past the need to simply survive, but to also live.
    Still, the don telling him he’ll still be the way he is, was proven right after he died.
    Enzo, now with the realisation that there’s more to life than simply survival, wanted to extend that opportunity to Cesare too, like the little kid who wanted to help people out of their suffering, simply thinking that everyone wants to leave their suffering together like he does, people still push others further down, and Cesare did exactly that. Enzo, who was desperately naive, wanting to see the last of his family living, stabbed by someone who was exactly in the same position as him.
    The don was right, he’s still that naive kid from the mines, still desperate for freedom till the end.

    *SPOILERS*
    I agree, the devs definitely should’ve inserted that last stealth sequence after Enzo fell from the bridge. That REALLY threw off the emotion of the climax.
    It would’ve left the player/audience wanting to get through it, maybe even excited to see Isabella fight so hard to get to Enzo. Thus, leaving the player with hope before cutting back to more action and a worth-while fight sequence with Torissi. Could’ve been a rollercoaster of emotions, but instead you feel like you’re wasting your time just trying to get to the credits.

    I think the volcanic eruption at the end was symbolic. Even when the world is ending and all they worked for is burning, all they cared about was appeasing the Don. Not their families, not their faith, not even themselves. Willing to sacrifice the greatest gift of life for a man who didn’t care about theirs. And even in the end, nobody knows the Don is dead, yet they’re still following the orders of a man who gave them nothing but the illusion of choice.

  • @zixlity9471

    imma let you know, they blew it on that ending. everything from the "go here and blast these last spadaro captains" was rushed and jank asf. it really feels like since they're trying to "go back to their roots" with this mafia so hangar 13 had to make the ending torture corn. just so they can get the validation from all the og mafia fans and they'll say "woww that was so dark and realistic!!! crime doesn't pay after all guys 🤓" just some straight cornballs are the ones who justify this game's ending. it is a game, games aren't supposed to follow realism to a t. but apparently for the story it had to be, despite enzo taking 100+ shots over the campaign cesare can just stab him and boom he's dead. not to mention all the knife fight "whoop the bad guy's ass in gameplay only for the cutscene to show the character is REALLLYYY struggling guys!!! 🤓" corny, these devs are the entire field.
    in my opinion

    Bro but think about it. Everyone always thought Cesare was a dunce who wasn’t fit to lead. Now imagine seeing some Caruso, somebody who literally came from the dirt, do better than you. He was lowkey bitter about all the stuff Enzo was getting because he wanted that, he wanted the respect and the money given to him. The Don was never gonna take him seriously, I feel like that’s why Cesare didn’t care when he died. He finally had everything he wanted, even though it’s all ashes, he’s in control of everything. It just makes me mad when he killed Enzo cause I literally don’t have a clue why he did that. The Don was already dead and he let Isabella go so it just felt like a good twist to throw in at the end even though it makes no sense

      It gets darker the more you think about it. He used the fact that Enzo saw him as a friend as a way to kill him. To lure him in and hug him. Then he literally stabbed him in the back. Then like you said, he didn't have to do that at that point. He did that for himself. Possibly because of his jealousy of him, but also because the mob life is literally all he knows. As if he literally couldn't comprehend the points Enzo was trying to make at the end.

    • @che3636

    • @gay4ag
      @gay4ag 2 months ago

      @bradley8614 But at that point the Dons dead and Enzo said "live for yourself, not for him(him meaning the don)".So im guessing he took his advice and killed him, which then telling the family he killed the traitor Enzo would lead to family giving him respect. Then that would lead to one of many steps into becoming a respected and wealthy individual like you said he might of wanted.(But I might be yapping😂)

      Because Enzo was no longer family and killed his uncle. Isabella was still family at the end of the day. He had no reason to kill her or hurt her.

    • @lonetiger0774
      @lonetiger0774 2 months ago +18

      @hunter3551but letting her leave, with Enzo’s baby? That was the main reason why the Don and Tino was pissed. 😭

    • @hunter3551
      @hunter3551 2 months ago +8

      @lonetiger0774right but Cesare ain’t the Don or Tino. Cesare didn’t even want to kill Enzo at first and probably wouldn’t have had Enzo not killed the Don at that part. Cesare had a problem with Enzo breaking the oath but I think he had more of a problem with Enzo killing the Don and sleeping with his cousin.

  • @marisolortiz9737
    @marisolortiz9737 2 months ago +71

    I think the whole point of the Isabella stealth scene was to have her kill Tino, but he honestly could have been killed off any other way. Like getting trapped in the burning house or cellar and Isabella leaves him to die as she escapes. Then find Cesare as he drives up to the house and gives her the boat tickets. That scene should’ve just be shorter and I think have more dialogue to show Isabella’s desperation in finding Enzo. I wish we the ending was written better but it was a phenomenal series and you played amazingly Berlin, love to see all the hard work you’re putting in

  • @Itsmeodie

    As much as I loved Enzo, I find the ending pretty fitting to the game’s overall message.
    1. Enzo was entrenched deeeep into the mafia lifestyle and had DOZENS of people in the grave at this point. It’s unrealistic to think Enzo would escape untouched.
    2. The fact that Isabella was able to win against her own version of the Don, was also a whole character arc in itself.
    It’s not a happy ending, but a real one.
    Also, Enzo lowering his guard to embrace Cesare at the end - in hopes of rekindling their friendship - may seem a bit on the nose for the plot. But remember: Enzo has always been a deeply kind man. In that moment, he was grasping at straws for any fragment of brotherhood/family. Can we really fault him for choosing naïveté over despair, for clinging to hope?
    Only thing that confuses me is Cesare giving Isabella the boat tickets? Like you just killed her man, and then tell her to leave? Huhhhhh lol

    • @hansolbling8141
      @hansolbling8141 2 months ago +14

      @asherandall7441 Exactly, kind of drives home the idea that regardless of the mafia being a "family" the only ones that truly matter to them in any way is their actual kin. Additionally while it seems pretty contradictory at first that he'd give her a way out after all he had just done...I guess you could view it as his final act of grace? The man he looked up to is dead, he killed his "best friend", and finally he drives back home to see the entire lifestyle he upheld in hopes of inheriting went down in flames. In that moment he lost everything, what right and power does he have to force Isabella to stay?

It pissed me off but it made sense. I also just got a lot of satisfaction from killing Tino.

    the switch-up towards the end when isabella is being played is kinda yuck. like no hate, cuz everybody's allowed to feel how they feel about the ending & the death of our beloved mc cuz we fucking grew with him man! but i've been sitting watching this whole series back to back with my gf and this game's definitely hit my top 5 overall. its in there with the last of us. like THAT BAD. so let me get nerdy as fuck in these comments then.
    my thing is, you're supposed to feel the incoming doom - the whole thing starts getting worse once luca dies because you're hit with the reality of what being in the mafia/a gang/any type of shit like that actually is like. it's not just cool fight scenes and getting the girl of your dreams, being wealthy, all of that. it's nasty, it's dirty, at times it's soulless. you get to see how everybody involved is literally GROOMED into being at the don's beck and call knowing that the don really doesn't care for them in the end. it didn't matter what enzo did - he would've always been that dirty mine boy. it's all about that fake love when he was willing to risk his life for them but him wanting anything for himself? it was the worst type of betrayal, and there's real folks like that out in the world. it hits for me.
    enzo embodied everything that luca hoped for at the end and i think that's as beautiful as much as it is painful. when you're taking care of the last of the spadaro's, you're meant to be thinking, "how is the torrissi family gonna end any differently?" because you realize while those men are sitting ducks that they either 1) have nothing outside of this family/job or 2) they have something and it's guaranteed to be lost because of the same violence they repeatedly perpetuated under spadaro's command. and unsurprisingly, the world is VISIBLY ending almost (symbolism of the crumbling of the family internally) - this illusion of wealth, happiness, and power all comes crumbling down when the volcano erupts and you get to thinking about how these people are relentlessly chasing after isabella and enzo for just trying to execute a basic human right.
    mind you, something enzo's never been able to actually do his entire life. he was sold into slavery pretty much, then he has no choice but to live as the don's pet because if he doesn't do EVERYTHING for this family, he's guaranteed death. the only time enzo ever wants and goes after it is with isabella. the same thing for her because her entire life she has been a political pawn before she was ever a person. arranged marriages were common back then and still are in certain places in the world.
    before she's a person, she's a woman. and it doesn't matter that she's the don's beloved daughter - he wouldn't lift a finger to even allow her the illusion of choice. from the start, she's been fearful of what would happen if her father found out about her relationship with enzo and we learn she was completely right to be! that turn into more of a horror game felt real to me. it was so engaging, to see that despite the fact that she was undoubtedly sheltered, unaware about specific fighting tactics, she stood for what she believed in. everybody else is so convinced she's just acting out, infantilizing her as a child instead of a human being with needs and desires, because she doesn't want to be forced to abort her child. she doesn't want to run the risk of being married off to someone who could easily abuse her just because she would be considered their property. she doesn't want to not have a CHOICE! to me, it's better that she wasn't just written off as the cheap damsel that gets saved again and again. at the end, she worked to save herself with only the hope of a better day tomorrow, with the promise that enzo made to her in mind. is that not what people are trying to do in real life every day?
    i admit to you that at the start of this series i was really annoyed with some of isabella's actions like her insistence on enzo choosing her when he would be putting himself at endless risk, but then i stopped to think about the historical context there. she's spent her entire life being socialized into relying on men for everything and frankly, there was little she could've done to actually put their runaway into action WITHOUT enzo. she has a recognizable face and i doubt women had the ability to get much sorted legally too. it hits now, as she's desperately going against her upbringing by killing for the first time, running away, etc.
    my opinion is that mafia the old country makes folks feel the same way that last of us 2 did. y'all are gonna hate it because it was a little too human. maybe if you go back to it after years have gone on, when you've felt boxed into a hole, stuck, like if you can't ever change, maybe it'll hit. it's the tragedy of human life, at times.
