Casio Exilim Lens Error/Retry Power On

- I would occasionally get lens errors or retry power on messages on my Casio Exilim digital camera. I traced the problem to the battery. Apparently the Casio Exilim is more sensitive to power than other digital cameras. Fully charged batteries that work fine in other cameras, seem to give the Casio problems. I experienced these problems both on my Casio Exilim EX-S8 and my Casio Exilim EX-S5.
I know this is an old video, but I found one of these cameras at a yard sale for a couple bucks with the same exact problem. The camera I bought did not have a battery so I ordered an after-market one. After going over everything I found this video. Thanks for your help, I'll add to your diagnosis. The brass contacts for receiving the battery are sprung, I took a small flat-head screw driver and pried them up slightly and it fixed the problem completely. The factory battery must make better contact.
My lens was stuck, giving retry power on and lens error reports. When i looked at it, i could see it was not straight, so I pulled on it, and it snapped back into place. Now it's working fine. It was an old and inexpensive camera, so I didn't care if i broke it though, wouldn't try that on a brand new more expensive model...
I JUST TRIED THIS WITH MINE AND WORKED ! Thanks!!!
MINE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THANK YOU SO MUCH
Yep this fixed mine! LOL thanks!
My exilim FC-100 always asks for language/date when powering on. Tried reformatting/resetting with and without SD card, but no luck.
Shrug. I had this like 5 camera ago.
@@RJTheBikeGuy I seem to be a fan of old technology :)

Interesting, let me try it, maybe the voltage is slightly different.
Your content is so touching
Hello. Can you help me with my camera? Whenever I put a memory card, it is turning black. Please help me.
What is your camera's brand and model? Some old cameras can not read and write data from memory card with high capacity.
Thanks for the information hehe -red
I have an Exilim EX-S600 that's completely dead. I was using it for a while with a generic NP-20 battery. The last time I went to use it, the lens extended fully and it turned off. Been completely dead ever since. I have an external genuine Casio NP-20 charger that I used to charge the battery when I got it.
Gregg Eshelman same. Do you still have th dock charger does it work
It's probably the amperage output.
yes
My problem is the lens stocks. Do you know how to fix the stocked lens??
Thank you!!
Do you mean stuck? Is it stuck in or out?
It's stuck, the lenses can't go out and can't go in......!! How to fix this?
Well, first try removing the battery and then reinsert it and try to power it on. Make sure the battery is charged. Make sure the battery is a good battery. If the lens is still stuck...what I would do and have done (YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK), is try to help the lens move. Sometimes pushing or pulling the lens will help free it. Usually once you get the lens to move, it will move. Did it just get stuck, or was it dropped, or hit somehow? Is the lens crooked?
I tried it but it didn't work. The lenses just get stucked.
I don't know what to tell you then. If it's still under warranty, call the company. It would probably cost a lot to get it fixed. Probably cheaper just to buy a new camera. That being said, you might not have a lot to lose to try being a little more aggressive in getting the lens freed up. It's possible that something is broken in side. Or maybe just some gears are jammed.
Let me try.
Just don't use nikon battery.
There are USB?
Casio battery
Yes
thanks so much
