On Location: Downtown Iowa City Public Art
Explore with On Location Host AJ as he tours some of the public art located in downtown Iowa City. With murals all over, benches painted by Iowa City artists, and art even displayed in the construction of buildings, there is no shortage of things to look at downtown. The Iowa City Downtown District has planned and commissioned many of these infamous murals displayed throughout the city, aren't they fun! AJ is a perfect tour guide because he is pursuing an Art minor here at UIowa. Being able to explore the downtown district helped AJ decide that he wanted to add on an Art minor where he can go deep in thought and answer questions like “does art imitate life or does life imitate art?” Even for those of us without Art degrees the murals and public art downtown are still fun to look at and explore.
