  • Dissent decks are the Fastest, Lightest, most Responsive longboard/skateboard decks in the world.
    Dissent Boards

    Oust Bearings
    www.oustbearings.com/
    Our decks are perfect for all types of skating maneuvers like carving, cruising, racing, freeride, sliding, or long distance. It's an all-around perfect deck for beginner to pro level.
    Here at Oust, we decided to develop the fastest, lightest, most responsive skateboard deck that would not only set new high standards for deck manufacturing, but monumentally push the sport into greater heights of speeds and maneuverability.
    This is why we call our skateboards Dissent.
    Get the best deck you'll ever ride at www.DissentBoards.com
    For custom orders, to have your deck tailor made with exotic woods, desired flexibility, and performance requirements call us at 1-310-212-5514 or email us at Oustinc@gmail.com.
    We went outside conventional skateboard manufacturing and standard materials, and built the best longboard deck that is made in the USA. We chose materials that would make the skateboard feel alive and performs in ways that are unimaginable.
    All the woods we use are quarter sawn because it is known to have better properties as far as straightness, strength and flexibility, which also works better in the carbon fiber to wood adhesion process.
    Each deck veneer is measured carefully with calipers to insure proper tolerances to ensure a perfectly balanced deck from top to bottom. This achieves peak performance from the wood, which greatly reduces high frequency speed wobbles.
    We use a special aerospace resin that is weighed and balanced. Our resin has a very high tensile strength and flexural strength that allows for infinite flexing that other resins we've tested could not do.
    The carbon fiber plies are saturated to the exact carbon to resin content of 60/40. This is done to assure the maximum strength, flexibility, and recovery time, from each layer to achieve maximum performance from the finished longboard.
    There are different grades of carbon fiber-- Commercial, Industrial, and Aerospace grade. Commercial grade, or 33MSI fiber is usually woven and has the least Tensile strength. Industrial grade, or 35MSI is also mostly found in woven cloth.
    Aerospace grade, 41-70 MSI, can be found in woven but mostly unidirectional fiber.
    The benefit is that you can use less material to achieve a stiffer and lighter structure. With woven material the strength obtained from warp is minimal.
    Unidirectional material strength is the same in all directions. This is why Oust has chosen Aerospace grade unidirectional material.
    With this grade we can also change our carbon fiber ply angles to achieve more structural integrity for specific performance needs or desired results.
    Although some resin is lost while in the press, the balance between carbon fiber and resin is still maintained in the skateboard deck.
    After the press, the blank deck is placed in to the CNC router fixture and is flattened so the truck mounting holes are perpendicular to the wood surface. Once secure, truck mounting holes are drilled to specific dimensions or wheel base length.
    We cut our decks using a CNC router, rather than by hand, so the shape is completely symmetrical, and ensures the trucks are mounted completely center. When decks are cut by hand, there is room for error which can result in off center truck mounting holes.
    Once the deck shape has been cut out, the now square rails or edges are sanded smooth in preparation for the radius that is put onto the rails with a hand router. This process can only be done by hand.
    Before sanding the deck, we counter sink the truck holes, so the bolt's head sits flush with the deck surface.
    The finish sanding starts with a 100 grit paper and finishes out with a 320 grit paper. This ensures a proper surface or tooth for the sealer and extremely tough polyurethane surface coat adhere properly.
    Several thin coats of a protective finish are each dried and color sanded to keep the protective coating at minimum thickness. It also makes the surface coating more resistant to abuse.
    The finish on the Dissent Decks is what you would expect to see on a really expensive exotic car. It also protects the deck from the elements, and abuse while maintaining infinite flex and quick response time.
    What you now have is a longboard that is:
    1. Balanced by using the quarter-sawn wood and symmetrical centered shape.
    2. Aerospace carbon fiber for maximum performance in power flexibility, and response time.
    3. Laminated with specially blended resin to allow for infinite flexing without delamination.
    4. A durable surface coating that preserves the artistry and craftsmanship from abuse.
    To setup the ultimate skateboard we recommend using:
    Oust Bearings, and Oust Mood Wheels with perfect fitting bearing spacers

    Thanks to Rat Vision, I discovered Oust. I am very impressed by the quality of the products and the loyalty and dedication of the company. I will try out some bearings myself and leave some reviews to confirm the hype. I will definitely let all my fellow friends and skaters know about Oust

  • @OustBearings

    Thanks for the feedback. The Dissent decks can be made any shape, the reason the decks are the shape they are is because this is the shape some of my PRO skaters that skate for OUST Bearing said to build. Also if you look at some of the free ride decks here in the USA like loaded and a few others this is a similar shape. Our shape has more surface area and the response is several times faster then the loaded decks and Dissent decks only weigh 3.2 lbs. Thanks for your comments.

    "uni-directional material strength is the same in all directions" - might want to re-think that assumption. If it were, they would call it omni-directional and you wouldn't have to alternate fiber angles. Love your resaw setup!

      Like actual hover boards? Or those extremely underpowered 2 wheeled things.. anyway these boards, I don't have one but I do work with carbon fibre and they won't break easily but, they would be way stronger if the carbon fibre layers were on the outside, it will also make it a lot stiffer though, so good for downhill

      @@LupineGamer Yes, expensive. But I beat on mine for years, and it holds up. Even the flex is as good as new - still awesome, and I weigh over 90 kg. I use this board mostly for cruising at pretty good speeds.

    You would certainly expect that resin would be lost/pressed out, as there is plenty of excess resin when laying it up like that. Thats the reason for vacuum molding and infusion molding, to get closer to optimal resin content; although for this type of sandwich composite, the layup seems the be the way to do it. Nice planer and resaw setup. You could easily get consistent cutouts with a router jig, but I have to love the cnc router table. Pretty sweet longboards, Ill have to check out what you have. Is there a certain style of riding that you build for?

    • @OustBearings
      @OustBearings  8 лет назад +2

      +TheFootbaldd Thank you for your comment. The reason we do laminates like this is because we can achieve a 65/35 carbon to resin ratio. To do this we have a heated 300 ton press and unique tooling that takes part in the process. We don't show everything on the video because the pressing and curing of the laminate is were the strength durability and flex comes from.

      Dakota, thanks for the good review, I don't know where you live but when and if you order carbon fiber make sure it's at least 41K and uni directional. The carbon used in the Surf Industry and other sports Industries doesn't work well. I've tested most of the 33K woven and it does little to support the board. all the technology and thought gets wasted in a barely functional cruiser shape, all of this techology would be way better in a freestyle or a downhill longboard. another thing, that carbon fiber in between the plies is an absolute waste, carbon fiber needs to be on the outside for it to have any beneficial properties. plus, yall are not the only ones on the market making boards like this

      I have been building carbon parts for the Aero space Industry and prosthetic Industry for over 30 years and you should talk to someone that knows carbon before you make ridiculous statements like where the fiber orientation needs to be. All of our boards have a core that we adjust in thickness per the weight and heigth of the skater. Also I am 67 years old and still skate so I designed the decks for skaters whom like to cruise. i've watched this video a few times and i cant stop thinking why would you apply so much technology and time in building a a cruise longboard. I mean it s a board that you won t use for high speeds and you probably cant even slide with it because it has no concave. plus it looks exactly like a loaded board (loaded boards sucks). overall i think it s just not smart to build such a fancy board that has no use. Plus it s just to over priced for a board that doesn't even have hollow tech construction

    • @Docv400
      @Docv400 9 лет назад

      This makes a lot of wild claims for their Decks, I wonder how many have been tested and proved independently?
      Lots of fancy and expensive machinery, but it's irrelevant to such a low-tech device as a Skateboard.
      It doesn't take that much skill to make a symmetrical deck with perfectly aligned trucks, without all that machinery.
      You won't catch an Aerospace Technician applying resin with a brush, you can see all the bubbles that creates in the video [2:12].
      Perfect Cloth/resin ratio can only be guaranteed by using pre-preg cloth.
      'Infinite flexing without delamination?'
      Airbus/Boeing/NASA et al would be impressed, even they can't achieve that!
      Don't get me wrong, they're beautiful Decks, but this video over-hypes the technology involved/needed way too much.

    • @OustBearings
      @OustBearings  9 лет назад

      John Doc. First you can get close to symmetrical by hand but not like a CNC router.
      Second the bubbles when spreading the resin are taken out by vacuum when the deck is pressed in a vacuum press
      Third the cloth to resin ratio can be achieved by hand with the method we use to press our Decks just like pre-preg.
      I've been working with carbon fiber for over 35 years and we do use all Aerospace products.
      Last I designed these decks so older people like myself in there late 60's can ride for long distances and get some really good exercise without pain in the hips,ankles and knees from the shock you get from stiff heavy maple decks.
      I've ridden this Board over 60 miles in a day with no pain, I can't do that with the other decks available in the Industry.
      Also I want to thank you for your response. I like to hear how the younger generation thinks.

    • @OustBearings
      @OustBearings  9 лет назад

      Leonardo, it has 1/2 inch of concave and some of the skaters on the OUST team say it slides really great and as far as use I like to keep in shape so I ride distance on the week ends and it works way better then any of the heavy maple decks in the Industry. As far as being over priced the older skaters love the way it responds and there it NO shock.

  • @fortyseven05
    @fortyseven05 8 лет назад

    The fact is, most longboarders don't have anywhere near 400 bucks to spend on JUST THE DECK and, even if they did, would chose not to. There's nothing with making a niche product, but you have to understand your audience when you do. You've stated in another comment that you are going for 55-60 year olds who want a comfortable board to cruise around on. That's great! If that's the case, though, why are you, the apparent owner of the company, on RUclips arguing with people who are clearly never going to buy your product? You're not going to convince us that we should buy this. If anything, your tone is probably alienating people who were on the fence! It looks like you put a lot of time, effort, research and money into producing these decks and I can respect that. But don't try to sell Rogaine to high school students... Sure, everyone knows that one guy who could have used it, but the vast majority are simply uninterested and don't need/want it.

    I wonder if Rat Vision got payed by Oust to make that video.......The bearings are great but i wont be buying the board not because I dont like it. Its mostly because its nice to look at not to play and therefore i dont want it...i might break it.

      +LupineGamer Thanks for taking the time to look at our product. Our products usually get good reviews from everyone not only Rat Vision. Thanks for your comments on the DISSENT longboards and just to let you know they really work well. I have been surfing and skateboarding my whole life and I'm 67 now. The reason I designed the deck the way it is, is because I wanted a deck to have the same feel as a surf board when riding 30 to 50 miles on the strand where I live. Most of the decks I tried we're to stiff and heavy and my ankles,knees and hips would take a beating. The Dissent decks have a very fast recovery time and only weight 2.4 lbs so they're really fun to ride long distances. We're trying to get the price down but the Aero Space Carbon we use is very expensive and so is the method of Manufacturing.
      Thanks again for your response.

      I dont have my doubts it can take a punch. Im the type that rather get a crappy board and beat the living schpit out of it than by a really expensive one and be too afraid to even take it outside. I will consider buying one in the future but im gonna add some graphics and others stuff to it. Because as it looks now the board is a bit plain

    this is no different to a normal good quality longboard. ps the name of your skateboard is already in use by another company called descent

      Miro, you should look at a deck and know how it works and how it is built before you spread rumors about something you obviously know nothing about. OH I have been using the name DISSENT for over 30 years in another company of mine

      Oust Bearings I've been handcrafting skateboards for over two years now so i think i know a little, even considering i have my own company as well but i feel you are behaving in a very unprofessional manner, this conversation will proceed nor further

      and just like every other oust product extremely over priced. 450 dollars HA no thanks. Could get a full carbon fiber longboard for half the price or a handmade arbor one.

    What you have is a longboard that isn't even as good as a never summer and it's not the best ride

      Yeah these are nowhere near as good as never summer. Never summer decks aren't even that good either.

      ***** Never Summer uses Snowboard construction techniques. They're actually a hell of a lot better than a majority of the all-wood decks out there

      Call Never Summer and ask Sean Macalister about our construction and see if they make anything like our decks.
      I just seen him at the Agenda Show last week.

    this board isn't that special. It's just made out of harder more expensive materials so less wood is used. The shape of the deck isn't unique either. Why spend all the money to make this deck and use "exotic wood" for the beauty aspect just so to end up needing to replace the ridiculous crushed sprinkled glass grip with real grip tape when i wears out after a few uses? This is just an expensive cruiser deck that most people will replace once they learn the basics of longboarding and want to progress into freeride or downhill.

      Too bad you're too stupid to realize that another coat of urethane is applied to the glass grip which then makes the grip remain on the deck for the duration of your longboarding career.

    So, why do you insist on calling them skateboard decks when you know they're longboard decks? Also, you insisted on calling longboarders skaters, which you should know the difference between a skateboard/skater, and a longboard/longboarder. Good vid, but i facepalmed quite hard at that.

      What is the freaking best longboard then? I'd like to hear your low, illiterate, ignorant, and empty-headed ideas that you can barely muster.

    😂😂😂 this is so dumb, this is an overpriced cruising deck😂 your solution to there being no "advances" is making a board with fancy woods? This board is not going to make you be able to do anything different than any other board, there are numerous longboard decks better, good advertising tho.
