I love seeing trash to treasure vidios and love to see things rebuilt and reused! Way to go! I'd love to hear them. It seems everyone only knows to throw away and get new but now a days built quality isn't worth a crap with most items, so yeah, wishing certain things
@@wmp0074 The Sony subs did have dual spiders and we’re probably built better but my original comment had nothing to do with performance just the looks
@@K-Effect I was just giving my opinion that the original cone looks better because of it's unique design compared to the round cone and thick surround. I did post another comment about not using 2 spiders but that wasn't direct towards you. Nobody is wrong though. You think it looks better and I don't. Just two different opinions :P
Those are excellent subs. Had them wired to a taramps 3000HD and it was freakin incredible. They never blew up and I drove them hard. Got them in a elite 2x12 box in my van now parralelled to 2 ohm and a small 250 watt amp and they still pound like nuts.
Nice reimagining, but: 1. The real working power is 300 W - attentive viewers saw this on their own sticker. This is the true maximum operating power at which the speakers will work and not burn out! 2. The boxes are too small for such speakers and you can't get a normal sound from them! 3. Painting for rust is a bad idea! Good luck! (=
19:27 I would have used a wire wheel on an angle grinder to that rust instead of sandpaper, It would have came out a whole lot nicer because you would have gotten rid of 100% of the rust down to the bare metal like you should have And then you should have primed the metal before you sprayed it. other than all that it came out pretty good. though I am a little bit disappointed that they are no longer Sony Xplōde subwoofers anymore😢
As someone that has re-coned a great many woofers, 1,000 watt woofers do not come with stamped metal frames. It would be cast metal. Those vents under the bottom spider should be covered with cloth to prevent dust from constantly getting drawn into the magnet around the voice coil. If Sony didn't have air filters on those then it is a design flaw.
The rust on the baskets needed to be neutralised. You can’t just spray paint over the top. After making a nice cabinet you totally f’d up the driver restoration.
Good job Guy ;oP It would really be a plus if in the description you write the names of the products used and their references :o) Your Vlog would thus also become a tutorial ... ;o)

Great job. Only tip I would give is to secure the speaker wire terminals on the subwoofers better to where they are not moving. Thanks for the video
They look 10x better than the original Sony
Nicht wirklich.
Doesn't look better than the original pentagonal cones. Just looks like a generic chinese market subwoofer now.

Now I know what I should have been learning in school maybe I would have my own business now.
I am amazed that you can always get the replacement parts! As always, very well done.
Industry and concert poroducts get replacements, consumer stuff not so much
Wow totally rebuilding where u get the replacement pieces u literally destroyed the original parts it’s all new 🤔

Niceley done. I didn't know those old sony's had a dual spider.
Amazing restoration 🎉🎉
SONY MAKES THEYRE OWN SUBWOOFERS, I HAD A PAIR, 100 WATTS EACH, MATCHED WITH MINI SPEAKERS, SOUNDED FANTASTIC, COULD SHAKE THE ROOF *

Hmm ? And where did you get a new membrane, because the old one was torn?
It's a rebuild kit. You buy it new. DiY cheaper than buying new subs. Also good way to design better subs from old junk.

Skar SVR and many other 1000- 2000 watt plus woofers come with stamped metal baskets.
Nominal power is just 300W.

Why only use one spider? The bottom one makes the voice coil more stabilized. Former will probably jump gap now.
The technical term is spider for the piece that supports the voice coil.
