This video is your guide to build an electric go-kart out of broken hoverboards. So we recently gathered a bunch of hoverboards, some of them were broken and the other not in a good shape. So we took them apart and started with the tyres which basically houses the brushless outrunner motors. We decided to use four of them so that our kart is going to be four wheel drive... cool isnt it.
The next step was to design and built the frame for the kart which we build using metal tubes. As we chopped the lengths to our required dimensions we drilled a bunch of holes to assemble the frame using allen bolts.
Once the frame started comming together we mounted the tyres/motors and started working on the stearing mechanism that was simple push-pull asssembly. As we machined all the parts for stearing we connected both the front wheels using teo pairs of ball joints and threaded screws which allows smooth stearing movments.
To drive our homemade go-kart we decided to go with the hoverboard speed controllers to control the speed and direction of motors. As we have got four motors so we needed two boards but the problem was that initially the boards were programmed to work along with two onboard gyros to assist the controller for direction and speed of each motor w.r.t the tilt angle. Now we need to control the direction of motors using two joy sticks, one for forward and the other one for reverse direction.
As we started this project we knew nothing about embeded system designing so here i am highly thankful to SkillShare for not only sponsoring this video but also allowing us to learn and improve our programing skills that helped us reprogram the control boards according to our needs. The whole process took some time and lots of trouble shooting but eventually we repurposed the boards.
Later we build ourself lithium ion battery pack with 14 cells connected in series so the battery pack offered a nominal voltage of 54v with a capacity of nearly one killowatt-hour that's sufficient enough to get this kart rooling for almost an hour.

Hi DIY King I have question/ask for You, can You send me 2 hoverboard controllers (as I saw You have more) modified, You to modify them, for 40+ km/h, because I don't have the tools, and me to send to You 2 controllers ordinary (originals) together with payment You will request?
Young, Energetic, Talented.. beautiful.. Keep it up!
Much appreciated.
So that's why you haven't posted in a while! I totally respect that
You have done an amazing job with your go-kart! Fun stuff!!! :D
Great respect for limited tool builds. You have a few i don't have, but still makes some metal work feel more accessible.
10:21 the author of the code is exposed. Not to belittle your work but you guys should have given Credit where Credit is due
I believe he uses Niklas Fauth hoverboard firmware which he strategically did not mention. There are detailed guidelines on google. The interface used is UART. I have done a similar project 2 years ago, recognise the code that at the time was in 4 different configurations according to the application.
Rao brother if you are interested in selling you know where to contact me😂😂 btw brother awesome work done by you and your brother 👏🏼❤️❤️
Love from India 😊 keep it up brother ❤️❤️
Another excellent build.. Congrats! A welding machine should be the next addition to your workshop.. Could have saved u loads of time.. Keep up the great work
Please make a detailed video of the process undertaken to update the firmware of the onboard speed controller.
Otherwise, your job finishing was awesome 👍.
yes, please
Agree 👍, or at least the place where you get the info
I really want to too :-)

@@freddytime Please let me know how do you think they learn how to modify the Nicholas firmware code to run two cards togerheer....I am trying to learn how to code STM 32 for these aplicativos. No vídeos on internet was found... Tks
plz make a video on all of your tools Detailed video about name price aap ke to 1m se zada subscriber hone the quality and idea
Great work! Can you do a detailed video on how to reprogramm the hoverboard controllers?
Awesome.
Greetings from Brazil.
Thanks for your amazing innovations. You have the most inspiring posts I've ever seen.
I wonder if you can guide me to substitute the gyro on the board with some keys. I need to know how to change the program logic in the microcontroller.
I cannot appreciate what you guys are doing enough, so encouraging to watch our own boys doing DIY channels. If only the tik tokkers knew how much more there is to do and learn online
Can't agree more, these guys need to know their potential and put it in the right direction.
I have a request, could you please make an ultralight airplane using a car or truck alternator and a battery. Please use materials as found in the USA. The plane needs to be a 3-axis control. You could use RUclips for a overview but have very specific set of videos on how to do everything down to the last detail. Set up a website that people can pay using PayPal (or something) to gain access to the very specific videos. You guys could make a bunch of money doing this. I recommend a plane like a “Texas Parasol” or similar wood construction high wing ultralight aircraft as defined by the USA part 103 requirements. Any questions, just contact me.
My brand new hoverboard run time is around 25 minutes then it cut off power of board. At full charge it was around 41.5 V and after 25 minutes the battery voltage was only 37.8 V for cut off. Why is the voltage still so high and already there was a cut off the power?
At wat voltage should the board switch off? Any suggestions?g
isse phele aap ki hi old video dekh raha tha fir notification click karke yaha aageya
Amazing, can you point me to someone who can help me with the coding of hoverboard motors ? thanks
Could you also add the codings for the speed controller of the hoverboard
Hello Please let me know if u can make up a set up with the synchronization controllers of the hoverboard and sell it to me . I am from South Africa. I have a project on hold . Thanks
Love from India 🇮🇳
hi would u have the blueprints for the design as i wanna make one
I like that you're willing to share your experience but please speak slower, I cannot understand what you're saying.
Do you have any good resources / already coded firmware for the single channel control boards?
the ride would b smoother if you replace the tires with inflatable ones ... , the problem is i can't find any inflatable tyres with 5 inches inner diameter ... it needs to b 5 so that the tyre fits the motor... if anybody know a cheap vendor post here :-)
Hi nyz project👌🏼 In video you have tried with many hoverboard mainboards may i know from where did you buy it ?
You are really diy king
OMFG! A GOD JUST BLESSED ME!
i've been searching for these vids
(Bc we found a broken segway today and i wanted to make a car/gokart out of it) And voila i got the video! Much blessing guys! 🙏❤😁
Can you share the firmware you used? I am also making a go kart.
Please get in contact, I would like to send you some Knipex tools for your shop
Love from India 🇮🇳
I need your help with a project of mine, how can I connect with you?
Hello where can I find schematics or dimensions
I want build one
You are doing a great job..... Waiting for your video....! ❤💯🔥
Very good project 👍
FANTASTIC 👍👍👍👍👍👍Top speed?????
i have waited for your video so long
Very good idea with very high volume music :(

MashaAllah another wonderful job. It was a joy to watch and your skill profile quite enhanced MashaAllah. Mujtaba is on the right path. Stay. Blessed and keep it up ❤️
Thanks a ton
You're welcome
I subscribed to your channel
what compiler does you use to build the firmware?
and what is the hardware to interface the controller??

How much you spend on this go cart i want to make this
Great job done keep it guys 👍🏼👍🏼
Longer seat bolts, washers and springs..
The fact that you started way back in 2009 but got 100k sub and dancing ladies get the sam amt in days.shows what internet is.
Hahaha deep
Hi, is it worth changing firmware or to purchase 4xebike bldc motor controller?
You guys ever hear of wearing safety glasses geez
What is the app u use to design the car ?? Pls
Nice gokart! Good job. One tip: the steering geometry looks kinda weird to me. Go and study the ackermann steering mechanism.👍🏻
Will surely check that out soon
@@DIYKingSaM You might want to add over steer protection :)
Hi bro i want help in one project can u help me
Where is this Instructables link?
How much power at one electric motor ?
Please can you help me.....!!* 😀
Can u make a video on the modifications to the controllers please

I appreciate your work Dude & also you have very nice accent.
Keep rocking...... Dude 🤘🕶
You can't fool us anwar jibawi
My broken hoverboard 😥
Very nice my ninebot gokart pro only hits 38kph so that’s cool you made it yourself
I love your videos ❤
У вас такой глупый взгляд у всех
Is that a 4 lane street wow it's small
Hi, great video. I have many working PCBs with gyro boards however I do not have the remotes to turn off boards, they turn On but not Off, as the remote on these boards, turn off, calibrate and lock the board. Can this function be overcome instead of just adding kill switch inside with battery negative? Appreciate your advice
Baby ride kb da raha ho ?
Jab aap hazir houn infact I am thinking of a small meetup and let you guys have fun with our workspace
Jani plan karta hn ❤️
I like your lab mean work shop
can you give me software to load in micro history. thank you
how do you charge battery, I have everything prepared but I forgot that
Can you make a diy video on DC fast charger for EV's.. not a very high power one.. but something like a 7.2 kw DC fast charger which could be run from a normal house connection..from scratch.
Questions:
Would you be able to achieve the same speed/acceleration and torque using 4 e bike controller? One per motor.
I can do everything except the computer hacking stuff but would like to squeeze as much juice as possible.
Or do I just need to add more volts and amps?
video skills to ek no.
motorcycle 2000 kw hub motor se wind turbine ka video banaa sakte hain. Kyunki mujhe uski wiring nahin a rahi hai
Itne hoverboard latey khaha se ho..
good job guys thumbs up
Nice to see a video with people using mostly handtools, and few small standing tools. Not some huge fully equipped million $ workshop. Only crit would be that the music track is very repetitive and annoying, would rather just hear you guys explaining and discussing the build.
Hello! Great project. I was wondering if you could leave the code in the comments or somewhere where I could find it online? Also I was wondering how you connected the controller to your computer!
I just built something very similar, but did so with only 15$ invested using wood. Came on here to see if anyone has ever done it before, sure enough, lol.
can she skit / drift??
So the stock board can handle 14s (fully charged - 58.8v)?
Hello my friends, I would like to know if it is possible for you to tell me how you did to hak the motherboard please , thanks .
Awesome guys, you don't have a bumperbar? Those hover wheels look far too small, personally I'd use the ones that are available for trolleys, with lower pumped up tyres than normal, this will give you the suspension feel you probably need since you don't have a cushion except for your butt lol Good to see you built your own welder too, did you use an old microwave oven for parts?
Buon lavoro👌👍👏 ☺🤗
nice video bhai
hi, are you going to make instructables post for this project. I wonder how did you change firmware for it to work
Bruh. Put the guard of the angle grinder back on and wear some safety goggles. You'll have longer careers that way
Hi there, where can I find the Instructables link? Kind regards
can you advise how to reprogram stock controllers with joystick
Brother make a project on Bowling Machine with an automatic ball insertion system.
I like the chassis it's very simple but it's very heavy... if it's an aluminum chassis it can go really fast
Love from Bangladesh bro
Great vídeo, i am wondering if i can do something similar to this One but just rwd and with a foot trottle...
Assalamu alaikum
kindly apna number share kar de main aapse contact karna hai pass bhi do aur boards hai aur unke boards ko aapas mein link karna ha same
Otherwise,
How I am contact you?
Request u please share your learning path (list of courses) that u did on skilshare for the firmware
You my friend is what the world needs more of 🙌😂 just subbed in
Good but useless...
I've been looking for the video for 2 year, exactly what I need it 🤔👌
Gran trabajo !., me quedo la duda , de cuánta potencia son esas ruedas? Le hiria mejor con un controlador de 36v 350w?
Hey diy king can you do a diy 3d printer using old computer parts and audrino thanks from karachi pakistan
Bro make a video that how we can make hub motors at home...
Is it possible or not...??
You guys need to come together and make a "OneWheel" competitor!
