The sound design in chapter 1 was on another level, every gun felt satisfying and the world felt grounded. It felt more realistic to me even though the graphics were more cartoony and stylized compared to new Fortnite. They must have fired their sound designers or something.
Idk man. I was just so sinked into this new world called Fortnite where everything was possible. The sound of the birds the sound of the metal when you hit it with you le pickaxe there’s just something so magical about it and I still don’t know what it is.

They seriously started messing up the overall aestethic when they started implementing realism in the game. It's not unique, and it never was. The style in which Fortnite popularized itself was way more unique than anything else. Years of working and perfecting a specific style will always be better than spending a few months implementing stupid mathematical equations to solve reflections and more realistic shadows. Such a shame.

Something about this original audio is honestly otherworldy, I feel like even Fortnite in Chapter 5 seems dead silent compared to this even if it's not really but more so in a truly ambient sense that entrances you.

They put so much thought and detail into a small independent game (at the time of this video, when the game first was gaining popularity) because they wanted to satisfy the small player base that they had. But when this game became popular, updates come along. Sure, they’ve added new stuff, but there’s more downgrading than upgrading that comes with the updates. Take a look at chapter four, yeah sure, it has UE5, but season one looked and felt better because the game wasn’t extremely complex. I know it won’t happen any time, but we need THIS Fortnite back.

Now it’s all revealed and Fortnite lost his original spooky yet captivating appeal.

I really like pre tilted towers fortnite because of that emptiness in the map. Sniper fights were amazing and hitting that 252 damage headshot from like 200 meters with the sound was so satisfying
while technically I started in chapter 1 season 5. I played for a week and sadly wasn't able to play it for until chapter 2 season 2. I still love the ambiance of the old map and just how beautiful it is. I'm happy rift private server exists lol.
Played one of the first days it came out.. looking at each scene here, there was probably a point where me and 3 friends were running exactly where was shown.. battles taking place, walls being built, loot being gathered. And now it’s all silent. Sad!

Ah, the good old days.. Back before there were incredibly sweaty kids and numerous reality-ending threats.. Back when we could all just have fun. I think the game is still okay nowadays, but nothing can replace the memories we made with Chapter 1.
I do not know why, but in my opinion fortnite season 1-3 of chapter 1 were the most realistic in graphic terms. It looked so much more pleasing to the eyes and not all bright and colorful, or saturated like fortnite today.
Gotta say I miss the old Fortnite, shit was so much simpler back then. Started in chapter one season 2 and Stopped playing long ago after chapter 2 season 2 I believe. Too many sweats and too many magic or avenger type of shit where someone has the upper hand. It was better when it was just plane guns and explosives.

I love how this map had a little story to tell too. There are so many parts of the map that make you think. Like why is the prison broken, why is there a shack in the middle of wailing woods. Why are cars in the most random spots. I wonder what day to day life would be like on this map. 7:50 is one of my favorite shots because I can imagine someone just chilling there, I certainly would.
While I don’t hate the Chapter 2 map in any form, it’s still nice to look back like this...So long as you don’t allow the nostalgia to cloud your judgement, of course.

It’s not over saturated? I barely raised it by maybe 7% at *some* parts of this video, because my recordings lose saturation due to compression. However the _contrast_ seems to be intense at some points and I’m not sure what caused that, I didn’t adjust it at all.

Nothing needed to be designed in CH1. Everything was recycled from STW, and since they fired the STW team yes the sound designers are gone.
