There’s no need to apologize for having authentic emotions. Domestic violence touches so many families lives and changes them forever. You are a good man and I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin; God bless you both.❤️🙏🏽
I got to meet Martina on this tour because as a single Dad of 2 young girls and a boy. And I was one of the 1st male rape and abuse crisis counselors in the state i was in. Martina spoke the truth. Bless you brother
Concrete Angel by Martina is heartbreaking also. Broken Wing by Martina is extremely liberating, that song at one point was my anthem for breaking free!
My friend, you don't need to apologize one bit for being man enough to show your emotions. It takes great strength to open up and allow yourself to not only feel what you felt, but to also share it and your story. I tear up every time I see this video and I can't watch or listen to concrete angel. Martina is an outstanding singer and story teller.
There is a awesome 80s movie called "The Burning Bed" starring Farrah Fawcett. Based on a true story. It gave me nightmares. But it also showed me a woman's Independence, strength and drive!! There was another awesome movie that brought awareness to domestic violence and helped change the laws, cannot remember the name of it but Nancy McKeon starred in that one.
Thank you for your touching & honest reaction. God bless you for breaking an abusive cycle and the traumas that come with them. Ms. McBride delivers some very powerful messages in her songs. Others have mentioned it, Broken Wing was a real anthem for me as I healed from divorce. My daughter sang it, several years later, as her final solo performance in her high school choir. It was amazing (if I do say so myself).
It's amazing how your traumatic experiences did not impel you you continue along that path but made you into a man who completely rejects and reviles abuse of weaker individuals and become so protective of the women in your family. My respect for you is immense! May God bless you and yours!
I love your huge heart and never apologize for feeling your emotions. I am so happy that I happened upon your channel shortly before Covid. So proud of you! Thank you for sharing with us❤️
The reason she does these videos is to help people heal. Triggers are your clue to heal whatever that issue is. Martina was born and grew up in my home county so she's a wonderful talented midwestern woman. She grew up singing in church and then moved onto her dad's band when she got a bit older. She's got such a beautiful voice and is so talented. Don't apologize for your feelings, hope you got some healing out of this video, thanks for posting!
Never apologize for being human. You have the strength to talk about it and let others know they are not alone. If one person gets out of their situation because they watched this then you have saved lives.
Martina is a powerful singer, and the stories she can tell in song hits deep within my soul. I am so grateful that nobody in my family has ever experienced any type of abuse. One of my daughters works for the domestic violence/human trafficking in our area, and, although she can't discuss the cases she deals with, i can tell how hard it is for her emotionally.
Your reaction made me so sad. I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin. I also had a niece by marriage that lost her life to an abusive boyfriend. It is just so sad that anyone has to go through things like this!
I was traumatized too from DV as a child. I am 52 and still suffer. I suffer from anxiety and other things. It’s terrible. I know there are a lot of us out there. Hopefully people are learning and breaking the cycle. Peace.
What a great reaction to a great song! You seem like such a genuine guy. I'm so sorry for the loss of your cousin. I actually have this in my history too and got out with my 3 daughters. This song really hits hard for me! Keep doing what you do.
Hi Darlin', Not a country girl son but my bro was. When I went to visit him he took me to a country bar and this song came on. As I watched the video people were dancing and I was totally blowin' away. Here this terrible scene was on the screen and everyone was ye haw and dancing as I cried in the corner. Love the song, message is strong but still a Rock/metal girl to this day!
Not what you expected for sure! It’s a great song and I’m so sorry it triggered you, however, you moved through it with grace. Always a treat to hear (and see) you react to music. ❤🎶
I just found your channel!BRAVO! A Genuine Person! Thank you. IOur Mother was the abuser in my family in the 60s. Dont say a word was the NORM! Thank goodness NOT NOW! Keep up the great work! Lv. From Denver,CO.❤
My favorite songs from Martina McBride are That’s Me, Independence Day, That Wasn’t Me, Wrong Again, and Still Holding On (duet with Clint Black). She has amazing range and power. You can feel her emotions every time she sings with that golden voice.
I'm sorry about your cousin. What a horrible thing to live with. DV is evil. Martina has a magical voice. This song hit home for me years ago. I never lived DV, but my momma did, and darn near didn't survive it. Thank God she met and married my daddy when I was 4 years old. I couldn't have asked for a better father, and I'm so blessed he chose us and loved us all as his own.
I too watched it 😢 as a tiny kid you don't know what to do? But it went on with us kids as we got a bit older... the pictures or videos, I still play in my head decades later. Like you said "traumatized" 😢
I am so sorry you had to endure the ppl you love be abused. You were abused to by this violence. I pray that you will be the best father and husband. May God bless you!
This is based on a true story. The ladies name was Francine Hughes, she was the first woman ever to be found not guilty by reason of insanity for murdering her husband. She had endured years of physical abuse before she finally lit his bed on fire while he laid past out. They made a movie about it called The Burning Bed starring Farrah Faucet. I’ll warn you that it’s extremely hard to watch. It will absolutely trigger you but it’s worth watching. It tells the whole story for sure. I loved your reaction! It’s hard not to be emotional watching this, especially when you’ve lived it. Sending a hug your way.💕🙏🏻
I work with abused kids. They are all abused by either their mother or their father. I've seen things that I cannot get out of my mind. From babies being raped, broken bones, body parts burnt and even kids beaten to death. Its so sad but I have to go to work every day because these little ones need someone to be there for them and to fight for them. Its all real JB and it happens all the time. Thank you for your reaction. ❤❤❤❤
Sorry to hear of the loss of your cousin. It's a hard thing to reconcile. My family was close to the family of my Godmother, and her granddaughter was my sister's age, about a year or so older than myself. We grew up together, very much like our closer cousins. This lovely girl married a man and had three children, before finding out he had another family in Mexico and was splitting his time and money. He was also physically and emotionally abusive. Her kids were between 9 and 16 when she finally filed for divorce and her husband was restrained from coming to their house. They also shared a business, and it was there he came and found her. When mom didn't come home as usual, the 16 year old rode her bicycle to the business. She found them both, a murder/suicide committed by her father. I will never forget the phone call when I heard what had happened, and how angry I was. It's not the only such case among people I have known, but the hardest one to take. So I have had a glimpse of the pain you felt. Great reaction to an amazing and heart-wrenching song. It gets me every time I hear it. Every time.
God love you sweetheart, I am a Survivor as an adult and my mission is to help others see their worth, know they deserve so much better. My kids thankfully didn't first hand witness it with the ex-bf, but they did watch me cover bruises, say I'd walked into a door, and so on. My breakdown of self worth, i still put my children first. When i saw my Daughter dating guys that tried to tear her down, following the model i was setting, is when i snapped out of it, bounced back up & showed her being treated that way WAS NOT OK.

I couldn't watch the entire video. Too many haunting memories of my youth. My mom, brother, Sissy and me sleeping on the roof of our house, hiding from a drunken, violent father. So many nights running to open the door, wanting to give my dad a hug, only to find him standing there, drunk and covered in blood from fighting. No child should have to live through that type of home environment. Those memories have affected me.
The Clowns get me every time. What we see and experience as children makes the world look a whole lot different. Martina is a champion of difficult topics to bring Awareness.
As a child I was angry at my brother 1.5 years older than me not protecting me. I feel so horrible as an adult realizing he was a victim as well. Also, we were both sexually abused.
Martina is a great singer. For something not so sad, check out "My Baby Love Me" by Martina. Great reaction. For a lighter side (if there is such a thing) on this topic, check out "Goodbye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks.
I also grew up with domestic violence. My dad worked hard but every two weeks when he got paid he would get really drunk and beat on my mom. He bit her finger almost into and he would pull her hair out by handfuls. He would beat us too. They had 14 children. It was traumatic and on a school night too. Thankfully he quit drinking and 3 months before he died he accepted Christ as his Saviour.
This happens every July 4th ... Viewers think this will be a uplifting tribute to USA and the looks on their faces is heartbreaking when they get it's about domestic abuse ...
You know if you actually watch the real video of the song Martina McBride hurt back actually had 2 degree burns homeless video there's a whole life story about this song and this actually happened in real life
Unfortunately there are no color lines when it comes to domestic violence.. It's sad that in 2024 it's still happening.. I dealt with it in the 90's and early2000's.. I'm blessed now but I worry about my daughters and what might happen with my granddaughter's in the future.. but i'm being wrong because it can happen to my boys too. My boys are 36 and 24.. I was married to 2 different men.. both my boys have seen me be abused by their fathers. I will say both my boys are very protective of me as adults.
Don't apologize for emotions. Thank you for breaking the generational curse. It's not easy
Amen❤
That's EXACTLY what he's doing.. each generation has the chance.. he's doing it
Yea this song should've made any REAL person cry.
Dont ever apologize..a real man shows his tears and emotions...I cry every time I watch it
❤️❤️❤️❤️
She is one of the most beautiful singers ever.
There’s no need to apologize for having authentic emotions. Domestic violence touches so many families lives and changes them forever. You are a good man and I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin; God bless you both.❤️🙏🏽
Yes Martina McBride did paint a picture of what was happening! Thank you for sharing this 😢😢❤❤
Martina said she didn't start out to build a career on difficult subjects. Sometimes you dont chose, you are chosen.
I got to meet Martina on this tour because as a single Dad of 2 young girls and a boy. And I was one of the 1st male rape and abuse crisis counselors in the state i was in. Martina spoke the truth. Bless you brother
Martina is an incredible human being
Concrete Angel by her is absolutely heartbreaking but beautiful
Sad this was so triggering for you. I can understand why. You're a kind soul and breaking the mold that came before you.
Concrete Angel by Martina is heartbreaking also. Broken Wing by Martina is extremely liberating, that song at one point was my anthem for breaking free!
Some of us did indeed escape the abusers, now we enjoy true freedom and safety. Never again! Our abuser died on Arizona's death row. Free at last!
Wow. 😢 I'm glad y'all got justice, but the pain y'all went through hurts my heart 💔
@@karenwalsh1143 Thank you, It's amazing what we will put up with when we think we are in love. Health and happiness to you Karen. 😘
my mom escaped with 4 kids ❤

A must see “live” of Martina -Where Would You Be…
No autotune or lip syncing in Country Music!
That's an AMAZING performance if it's the one I'm thinking of where's she's wearing a white suit. I think it's when she debuted the song.
It's amazing how your traumatic experiences did not impel you you continue along that path but made you into a man who completely rejects and reviles abuse of weaker individuals and become so protective of the women in your family. My respect for you is immense! May God bless you and yours!

Martina is doing a fantastic job drawing attention to these issues through her amazing art. Thank you JB!
There was a book written about the same "incident" that inspired this song. "The Burning Bed". Landmark case.
What a great reaction to a great song! You seem like such a genuine guy. I'm so sorry for the loss of your cousin. I actually have this in my history too and got out with my 3 daughters. This song really hits hard for me! Keep doing what you do.
So many people use the excuse that that is all I know
You obviously have risen above and become a good man
God bless you, brother
Bless your heart, kind sir. You have my prayers for healing. You are a cycle breaker. Never underestimate how big a deal that is.
I'm sorry that you lost your family member that way 😢😢❤

Do not be sorry !!
Great reaction.

I dislike this story but the melody is beautiful.
It was her brother-in-law. And abuse her sister and killed her neice
I grew up that way , it sucked.
My childhood.... everyone knew about my dad, no one helped us.
I'm almost 40 and it STILL affects me.
From hitting us to hitting mom. No one cared
