Thank you for the video. I just got my Kodak scanner, exactly the same as you demonstrate in the video, but it always give the SD card fault, which I bought from Kodak as well. I have a MacBook Air, connected to the slide scanner, I tried to format the card, but no success so far. I would deeply appreciate some help.
so the scanner won’t read the card or the Mac won’t read the card? Try formatting the SD card to an xfat (exfat). This format is universal for Mac and pc.
I'm uploading my first slides, and doing ok, but then tried slides I have that have plastic frame instead of cardstock and they aren't fitting in the 50x50 slide holder. Is there another version of slide holder I can purchase to hold these thicker plastic frames, please?
Do you know if you can directly save to an external hard driver?

I've been using mine for about a week now. Once you y the hang of things, you can go incredibly fast. I converted about 70 slides in under 20 minutes, and now can load them into Photoshop and edit. I've been really happy with it. I tested several different brands and models from $79-$700. This little $179 model I got from Amazon has been great. The more expensive models that have queing stackers didn't really save much time at all for the extra money and the image quality wasn't any different, considering I'm just digitizing for editing afterwards. Plus, the auto feed models often still need to be manually aligned slide by slide anyway. Imo it's the best bang for your buck digital converter out there. Don't waste your money and time on anything else.
Oh a quick side note, the 7 inch model doesn't seem to come with an included mini HDMI to full size HDMI cable which in and of itself is worth at least $20

This is a real saving grace for those of us still scanning with our ancient Nikon Super Coolscan 5000's
That's funny. I looked up the product that you are talking about and it takes 20 seconds to scan a single slide. My Powerslide X takes almost a minute to do one slide at 1000DPI. The only saving grace is that it is self loading up to 50 slides.

a bit late to the party.. Thank you for the video@ I just got this as I was curious. Its a fun little unit. Its not epson pro or drum scanner for sure but for what it does its great. Its fast for the resolution you have. If you have a ton of images it can be a real task doing them on this. I would always hit the epson for anything more than just a few, especially as you can scan a bunch at a time at higher res. I mostly used this as a viewer so i could mark off what frames i would actually scan on a pro scanner. Helped lots as I have a ton without contact sheets. Also at a push you can view 120. Will only scan 80% of the frame mind. But great to view images. Not sure why Kodak didnt do a 120 option. With tech today it wouldnt cost much more to do. I wouldnt use this for real archival standards but for a hobby its great!
I think that it is a great machine for a few slides unless you have a lot of time on your hands. For a ton of slides, I like to use the PowerSlideX Plus by Pacific Images. It is really nice!
@@TheMediaNerdMT that is nice! I count myself lucky as in the studio we have a phase heritage system. I was skeptical as I loved drum scans. But I am a convert for sure, after comparing 4x5 scans at 1200dpi from each system. To be fair one system does cost 75k though hahahah

Scanning the cardboard slides work a treat, do you know if there is enough clearance for scanning the slightly thicker plastic surround slides?

Thanks for the encouraging review! I just had delivered the same model and next month will start on my thousands of negatives and hundreds of slides.
One question: after modifying the RGB and Brightness settings, after scanning, do those settings remain or do they return to default?
I believe that they stay where you put them but not entirely sure. Make sure to check the settings. For me, I like to do all of my photo enhancing after the scan. I keep the original "as is" and then make an enhanced copy.

Thanks for video - really helpful. I can't seem to delete pictures on scanner - please help.
If you have deleted the files and still see the image, try turning of scanner off and wait a few seconds and then turn it back on. I believe I noticed the same thing when I first used it. It is like it has cache files (temporary files).
I noticed it didn't capture the entire image as it was cutting off some from side to side. Is there an adjustment that can be made to capture everything?
I believe it has a zoom feature to go in and out

Yes. You must slide in every one then hit the scan button

Hello, many thanks for this video. I have a question about slides frames thickness. Is it possible to use 1.8mm thick frames, and same question for 3mm thick frames ? Thanks 🙏
The plastic guide that the slides are inserted into is only meant for the thickness of a 35mm slide.
Thanks for your answer. I know that only 35mm slides are accepted but due to the film brand, several types of frames were delivered to contain the slides. Kodak (Kodachrome, Ektachrome were always delivered with thin carton frames (1 mm), but Agfa or Fuji (or some others) have often delivered their slides in plastic frames more or less thick. If some of these plastic frames are as thin as the carton ones, some are thicker (1.8mm and even 3mm). Most of my slides are 1.8mm and I also have some which are 3mm. That's why I ask the question. -> Have you got the opportunity to work with these thick frames with this Kodak device ?@@TheMediaNerdMT

Is it possible to scan film from Advantix cassettes? Does Kodak make an adapter for that type film? Is it 24 mm? Thanks

Thanks for making this. It looks okay for the price and easy to use, but it’s clear that the picture quality doesn’t compare to slightly more expensive options from companies like Plustek. Kodak really isn’t what it used to be.

Kodak SLIDE N SCAN just bought one i set it up to do b&w negative it scan a few but then it go back to to the film chose home screen whats up is it it junk or am i doing something wrong ?
It is not junk it sounds like user error maybe? Did you turn it off and back on to reset?
Are you saving to your computer? What is the file size? Are you on a Mac of a PC?
It saves on a sd card to then get transferred to the computer. Pc and Mac works.

As long as it is 35mm, you should be able to slide it through frame by frame. It will take you a long time. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. You could video tape what you are doing with your phone and send it to me if it works.
I hope you can answer this considering I’m coming here 1 year after you posted. I looked up both the 5” model and the 7” model on Amazon. The 7” model is less expensive. Do you know if there are any differences between the two that would account for the 7” model being less expensive?

Hello! I recently purchased this product and I was wondering how it is possible to use this scanner if my roll of film can’t be exposed to air once I rewind my used film? Or is there a certain amount of time I have to wait to get these pictures scanned into digital format? Please help
you need to get your film developed first. Call you local camera shop to see if they develop film or where you can send it.

Yes, I think the only difference is the screen size. No, it does not scan film. I guess you could put it in to see what happens though.

I think flat bed scanners has adaptors for 120.

You don't put a undeveloped rolls of film in it only developed film.

One thing that everyone does well is showing the setup, the loading, scanning and adjusting. But, no-one has said how to load to a computer from the SDcard in the scanner. Help!
Assuming that you have a USB port on your computer, you would need an SD card reader that you can purchase on Amazon or a local computer store. You just attach the SD card reader via USB and then put your SD card into the reader. You should then be able to see your files and copy and paste them to your computer.
@@TheMediaNerdMT What's the point of the usb upload function that you glossed over in your demonstration? Wouldn't the scanner have the options to copy the photos to a pc?
Was tempted but reading it doesn't take the plastic slides which I have a few of.
Are you positive? The plastic slides are not much thicker than the cardboard. You can always try it and if it doesn't work, return it.

How many pictures will a 32SD card take?
It depends on the mb size of each scan. There are 1000 mb in a GB. If you scan each picture at 1mb then that's 32000.
Wait, is it ok to scan them sideways like that? Or do you have to correct the orientation?
It’s ok to scan them in any direction as far as I know. You can correct the orientation on your computer easily
The pictures on the screen look rather blue. Is that how they look on your computer screen, after transferring, or is it just the screen that gives a blueish look ?
They do not look blue on my screen. All monitors display color differently. On that note, you can adjust the color in a simple picture editing program to get the color how you would like.

I am not sure. I didn't look into that. However, you could put the SD card into your computer and go to properties to find out.

Nice video/review! Does it has any sort of ICE dust/scratch removal build-in? Still using my trusty Nikon Coolscan V ED. Great but rather slow. Funny 2nd hand prices for this one are more expensive as I ever payed new for it! But this Kodak seems very interesting too.
No, it does not have scanning software. I found that photo shop has good ICE tools.

this would be a 13MP scanner. 130MP would be more than even most professional scanners, more than most professional cameras, and 10 times more than 4208 x 3120.
Yeah. Sounds like you are mixing up megabytes and megapixels. Check the specs on the machine yourself.
So I was right, its not by Kodak, its got Kodak's name slapped on it. The bigger screen won't make any difference to the scans. Avoiding for another unnamed brand because all you're paying on this for is the Kodak name, the Kodak name that sadly died when they went bust.
The bigger screen doesn't have anything to do with the scan, it is so you can see the picture better.

I couldn't help but laugh, when I saw "Image Sensor 130 Megapixels 4208 x 3120" come up on screen. That should read 13 megapixels not 130.

If you are saying "Really" about the Mega pixels, I made a mistake reading the number and didn't see the period. I put the correct Mega Pixels in the description.
You need to use SD Cards??? What the heck is so hard about scanning the image and sending the image to one's computer??? I have to put them on a SD Card and then read that card into my computer that no longer has any ports for gadgets?
There is a USB cable to plug the unit into you computer to send the files over but you still need a SD card to save you files to. I am not Kodak I just did the review.

white gloves are good when handling photos and film so finger oils don't get on it.
