I don't know how people accuse him of being racist against Indians on the basis of this song. He calls names from all ethnic groups, it's lower class versus upper class just like most things in society.

So let me get this straight, the poor children of Indo ancestry from the rural sugar belt of Trinidad that consistently top score in these and other exams are of this so called "high class?" How about our urban Afro population get their act together with black dads being present and supportive and put education first and build a legacy and new heritage to stand firm on and be proud of. We cannot begrudge people their success and cannot make excuses for failures. This composition wreaked of hatred and racism, especially in the way it was performed. This is the sort of thing that tears at the fabric of multiracial societies such as ours. This is the stuff of Nazi Germany and segregated United States back in the day. Sad and pathetic.
🤔... Are you suggesting that what he "sang" about did not happened? The song called out the CE scandal of that period. There were many people who I knew personally wasn't bright at all, but got into prestige schools(???). I had 2 friends (indo-trini of working class background) who were doing just as well as me, if not better, yet both had to settle for Jr-Sec places, whilst I got my first choice. Is Cro Cro controversial? Definitely. Most times I choose to ignore him, because he have a recurring theme. His delivery is often feisty, however, he was spot on with this one. BTW, you assume that urban "black" children, are not working hard. Any way that's a subject that needs time, which I don't have at the moment.

Me eh thinking vile
And me eh trying to project my child
But corruption is ah constant annoyance
Going on too long in Common Entrance
You doh have to be intelligent, that is a lie
Yuh father must pull a good string; with complexion high
Yuh child could be bright like a bulb, and from Lavantille
Forget Holy Name Convent and Bishop Anstey
Because they have to pick Lakadeo, Boodoo, Krishna, Maraj
Beacause Arjoon and Sarge father have big garage
Chaitee, Bissoonie, Yimulie and Pulmani
De brother, sister, son and Narwani
Hadeed, Montano, Sabga and Abraham
Dey pick so much big shot children, they get jam
When dey full dem big shot school right up to de neck,
They send all dem poor ones to de Junior Sec
Chorus
Too much high-class in the class, tra la la la la
Only high-class in the class, traa la la la la la
Too much high-class in the class, tra la la la la

Before Common Entrance the last year,
Ah liming on Independence Square
A woman shopping bag fall down on de pavement
Ah see uniform cloth for Holy Name Convent
Ah say woman how you sure yuh child pass for that school
She say connections cool and she eh no fool
She say she husband on de staff and she start to laugh
She say Cro Cro inside de whole Ministry is Maf (mafia)
She say dey have to pick Chin Lee, Chin Fatt, Wong Sang and dem half-white
Dey parents know where de going long before dey write
And if your name is Corneal, you pass with ease
All dem Corneal is for Fatima and St Mary’s
You must be politically active and have your party card
To get in Big shot school here in Trinidad
You eh give teacher Jagessar Royal Saloon by cheque
Ah tell yuh buy uniform for de Junior Sec
Chorus
3
Dey say dey stopping Common Entrance soon
Just o put poor people in more gloom
Black Hen Chicken and dey parents go have to groan
When dey start the new thing that dey call the Zone
It means that if you living in Woodbrook and St Clair
You automatically going there where the air rare
And if you living Toco and yuh coming first in the race
You can’t get into St. Augustine Girl’s by Anna Mahase
Because they have to pick Booker, Broker and De Lima
Ms De Lima give she daughter a gold watch to give the Supervisor [i.e. Ministry of Education School Supervisor]
Dey must be Hassanali, Hyatali, Masang and Rouse
Ramoutarsingh give the Supervisor free steel to build he house
But ah want a big piece a rope to tie the neck of Pantin
Leave him in the sun until he get thin
And hen ah get vex I’ll pull the rope and pop he neck
Then we go get some High-class in dem Junior Sec
