The final outfits that you really love are actually modern renditions of a traditional Korean hanbok, mixed with a gonryongpo and stylized suits. Gonryongpos were robes worn by kings or crowned princes. You can see the golden embroidery being represented as accents of SuperM's outfits instead of there being huge emblems at the front. These are featured to compliment the theme "tiger" since they are traditional seen as protectors, guardians or a symbol of strength and power (hence forth adding to the king/prince theme).

The one wearing the red shirt with the harness print was Taemin. His "home" group is SHINee and he does a lot of solo stuff too. Pls check out his song Criminal, he had a head-to-toe Gucci outfit in there that you might want to see. :)
The last outfits with the oriental look are actually modernized hanbok, the traditional Korean attire. It's very "representative" of the group's South Korean roots and culture. Plus, tigers have been an important symbol in Korean culture so the hanboks are a very fitting fashion choice. Applauding the stylists for that. :)
Dammit! Thank you for letting me know! I've got some SHINee and Criminal on my filming schedule so they'll be coming in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see this Gucci outfit yesss!
Ah that's amazing! I know of Hanbok and saw it when I went to Seoul a few years ago, it's beautiful but I'll defo be doing some research into hanbok today. Massive applause for the stylist, they have done a beautiful job
I have to agree. I really love Kai's last outfit. I couldn't pinpoint it before, but now that you mentioned the pirate vibes I can totally see it! And Kai himself is just gorgeous!
Kai is so beautiful! I think it's just the way the cuffs of the shirt hang from the jackets, and the white draped pieces. It made me think of Vivienne Westwood and Jack Sparrow haha

The suits with the gold are my favorite by FAR. Like, take traditional dress but make it GANGSTER. I loooove it. Also, I totally didn't notice that the one Versace shirt had harness print until you mentioned it and I'm still shook about it.
I'd be really interested to see what you might have to say about Chungha's 'Dream of You' and 'Stay Tonight' - the styling is way simpler than a lot of other videos, but SO polished and I can't stop thinking about them!
And seconding a request for Taemin's 'Move', 'Want', and 'Criminal', specifically for the way that the styling is such an integral part of the video's artistry and imo even sets the tone of the songs as a whole - there are a lot of interesting elements, and I personally struggle to put words to what they're actually doing, but I bet you could.

All I could do when I saw Taeyong in that Versace fit was sing "Versace on the floor! Ooooooh take it off for me~~~ "cause dinner is f*cking ready!
And i LOOOVED modern hanbok!! It was my favorite look of 2020! Ugh its so gorgeous!!!
I loved the final outfits so much (the modern rendition of Hanboks) I had an artwork of Mark in that outfit commissioned because I wanted to immortalize the look on a painting hahaha. They also commissioned a famous ink artist, Kim Jung Gi to make merch based on those looks.
Oh and IMHO sometimes they really need to match outfits because they have to make the choreo appear more "together".
SM groups are famous for "knife-like group choreo"--dunno if there's an equivalent English term for 칼군무 haha but basically it's the extremely synchronized group choreo. I think if you watch EXO's Growl, it makes that point. They're all in school uniforms but the stylists modified the looks very slightly for each member.
Omg yesss I love that! I guess we would just call it synchronized. but knife like group choreo really does make sense when you think about how they move!

@@georgehollins yeah Koreans say knife-like because the choreos need sharp movements from every member in terms of angles and timing.
Yes please check out EXO's Growl! The special thing about that MV is that it was shot all in one take. The music video was so simple but it highlighted the knife-like group choreo. I'm not sure if it's interesting enough for a fashion evaluation but maybe if you look up their promo photos from that time it's more interesting.

Yeah, I'm usually not into crop tops for men but this one, with the material and style definitely works.
I agree with you 100%. I didn't really care for the white shirt outfits either. I love a good "themed" look for a group, where they all have similar outfits, but they are still different, but there just wasn't enough variety with the white t-shirt looks, and yeah, all that white was just too boring.
