    You're a poet. A Blues poet, actually. I get the Charlie Daniel's Rap analogy you must have picked up on as a kid, like I did, and opting to NOT use the obvious rhyme at the turn-around is a very Blues choice. You're brave, and that matters. While I DO like and respect the soft, ethereal addition she brings you... The BEST thing I've heard from you, was when you did "This Land Is Your Land." Actually, its the best use of music in film (Bigrig) I have EVER experienced. Perfect use of that rough Timber you have. Unfortunately, I can't get a copy of that song mixed with yours anywhere other than watching it in that Doc. Anyway, Marine Corps props, man.

    Good job on this one too.
    I like the polished sound/feel of this.
    Good lyrical flow fo sho !
    (in past songs you miss syllables, not sure if on purpose to break flow, but it irks my inner OCD.... this is nice, ducks in a row!)

    Can't get over the feeling that I've heard Buck rapping completely similar to this before in Bike for Three! The vocals are also remarkably conventional. And seriously, who appreciates hipster wonderland video style anymore? If I wanted it, I'd go watch Lana del Rey's latest vid.
    Sorry if this sounded bitter, it's just that I had very high expectations when I opened the video. Sadly, this album promo is not another Centaur or Pants On Fire. It's no Paper Airplane, either.

    • @ninzo13
      @ninzo13 10 лет назад +4

      This why I believe it is a bad idea to have expectations. You're right, it isn't Centaur, Pants On Fire, or Paper Airplane, those are old. I say let him evolve, let him grow.

    • @TheCouchpotat0
      @TheCouchpotat0 10 лет назад +3

      I completely agree on that, but if this song were an ultimate illustration of how he grew, I'd have to say he grew repetitive and mainstream-ish. Compared to 20 Odd Years, where he tackled the same challenge of making songs about love with ingenuity and innovation, this one, although being a great song in itself, doesn't differ from his previous style and, to a great extent, conforms to cookie-cutter patterns of indie-pop.

      TheCouchpotat0 I actually like it. Edited this reply! Because I realized I sounded like one of those douches that acts like he knows the artist because of his music and interviews. He's changing with each album, it's cool to see

    • @OriginalBlackmoore
      @OriginalBlackmoore 10 лет назад +1

      TheCouchpotat0 I actually agree with you. Not a huge fan of this. If i want normal love/whatevs hiphop, I got tons of other artists. I love Buck for his wicked and weird lyrics and beats!
      However, as long as some of the songs on the new album retain that quality, I'm sure it will be great!

    • @Pogdub
      @Pogdub 10 лет назад

      Definitely on the poppy side, a nice change from "artsy".
      I'm not a pop guy, but i've always felt Buck deserves a larger audience, and if this is will help that, then so be it.

      I grew up on pen thief and centaur and It is very pop style but what matters is that it’s a dope beat and his lyrics say something real. At least he’s not mumbling.
