    I just started playing roulette, but my general strategy has been martingale, not because it works (statistically you will still walk away with a loss eventually), but because I like how it simply speeds up wins/losses. Then, I'll withdraw profits when I win and start the stakes over with low stakes using my default bankroll. If I run into losses, I stop doubling up, eat the loss, and restart with low stakes. To me, this will mean some weeks where I have extra pocket change until I lose my default bankroll. Then, I simply wait until I have spare money to play with at a later time. This way, I'm gambling for fun and not under the fallacy that I'll walk away with winnings. Enjoy lucky weeks, expect losses.

    This is such a great video, not just for roulette, but because it illustrates the entire principal of casino games in general - you simply cannot win. Maybe you as an individual can get lucky and win around or a session every once in awhile, but the public in general can never win over the casino because the games are specifically designed that way. There was no need for the casino to cheat, the odds are simply in their favor over a long enough period of games, because they simply do not pay at fair odds.

      Actually, you gave me some snotty reply 2 months ago that I didn't know what I was talking about and didn't know simple math. I've only been interested in Roulette for about 4 months but since your "you don't know what you're doing" email I'm up $11,850. I've been going twice a week for two months, only setting small goals each time. Lost about 20% of the time, won 80% of the time. As I practice at home on a site that has Roulette for free I get the same ratio over a greater sampling. Luck's involved but it's not just luck. I just posted my technique, you might want to go to some site like 247roulette.org which is free and try it. I'd be curious if you lost a lot or won often. Because I think it's also part attitude. So far my attitude's bought me a new clothes dryer, a 21 sqft freezer and a 500MHz 4 channel oscilloscope for free. Oh, and a pull down sprayer faucet just today. Stay positive! Professor Benjamin, recently I'm playing a spinning wheel game online. Here's the situation: players bet on four given multiples of the betting amount---2 ,3, 7, 18, and the wheel consists of 37 bars for the pointer to land on, among the 37 bars, there are 18 2s, 12 3s, 5 7s, and 2 18s.
    Apparently, betting on 18 yields the maximum return. However, based on my observation and experience, the frequency for 18 could appear 2 times in a row, and then reappear in 3 to 10 rounds of betting, but eventually I had to patiently wait for 28 to 120 rounds for 18 to pop up again, which is perplexing to put bets on. In one extreme case, the pattern went 18,7,7,18,7,18. On the basis of the laws of probability theory and stochastic processes, what is the safest bet for maximum return when betting on 18 and 7?

      So you are willingly giving money to the casino? You will never win, never.
      You have aproximately 66% chance to double. 33% chance to lose your bets.
      Example:
      You bet 1 dollar on two columns. That will cost you 2 dollars.
      IF you win, you will lose 1 dollar for the column that didn't win. From the winning column, you get 2 dollars. So for the bet of 2 dollars, you won 2 dollars. That is 1:1 win ratio.
      IF you lose, you will lose 2 dollars, one from each column that didn't win. So for the bet of 2 dollars, you lost 2 dollars.
      So every 2/3 of the time, you win nothing. Every 1/3 time, you lose 2 dollars.
      That is the worst strategy I have ever seen.

    Correct t me if i'm wrong but I dont think this is how it works.
    The odds that you will win mostly depend on how many numbers you bet.
    Say that you bet $1 for number 1 to 35 which means you bet for $35
    The odd that one numbers of yours will win is: 35/38 = more than 0.9 or more than 90%
    You would win $35 and lose the other $34 or win $1 for the odd of 90%
    And the odd of you lose the $35 bet is 3/38 or roughly 10%
    .
    .
    But what i'm talking about here is the odd of winning, not the amount of how much you win.
    While you can lose $35 , MOSTLY you will win $1

    • @kevinleung9120
      @kevinleung9120 9 лет назад +1

      Andre Gunadi If you play less hands then this is true. If you win $1, 34/38 times you are expected to win $89.47(winning around 90%) if you play 100 times. Your expected to lose $34 (the bet size if every bet is $1), 4/38 times, then your expected loss after 100 games is 357.89(you lose around 10 times). The casino's would love having you around.

    I've only now come across your video. Very informative. I have a question if this EV can be applied to Craps. In the game of Craps, unlike Roulette, you also a "No decision" on several out comes. For example if the point is #4; you have 3 ways out of 36 to win and 6 ways out of 36 to lose (7-out). So the remaining other 27 combinations are a "No decision", because you didn't win nor did you lose. How would you get the EV in the game of Craps?

    • @mrk738
      @mrk738 7 лет назад

      David Kalakaua. Just remove the " no decision" roll so you now have 3/36 =1/12 to win and vrs 6/36 = 1/6 to loose , so your twice as likely to loose as to win

      By imagining every bet vs every possible outcome. Read 'Scarne on Dice'. It's an old book but the guy who wrote it knew everything there is to know about the game of Craps, and he throws in some amusing stories along the way. I only wish he was alive to see Patricia DeMauro hold the dice for 4 hours and 18 minutes in 2009 at the Borgata in AC.

    Some people walk up and will put $100 on red or black with an expected win of 18:38. I contend if that same person put $90 on red or black and $5 on each of the two green numbers they still have $100 on the table but have increased their odds of winning by 2 numbers. Also if they hit one of the green numbers that pays $175 - the $100 bet still clears $75. In the long run this probably would not pay off but for that one time thrill better I like to take insurance. Note if you try this and hit on the green i suggest you put $20 to $30 on split greens for the next spin. Could pay for your weekend trip.

    Basicly what this should tell all you gamblers out there is that over time the house wins.
    The only way you can beat the house is in the short-term.
    Anything more and the math starts to really work against you, not just luck.
    Bet as much as you can, one time, and never play roulette again.
    That is the only way to win.

    Bet 2 of the group * such as 1 which would be 1 10 19 28 and 3 12 21 30. When betting groups ALWAYS bet the 0. It would be a 9 * bet. $9 gets $36

    Laatikkomafia that's pretty much a martingale progression betting system. In the long run it doesnt work because you're betting more and more money, just to break even and earn a small profit. It can work short term but remember that no number or colour is 'due'. Past events in roulette doesnt affect the future... unlike blackjack. Also, casino's have limits on how much you can bet and you need a big bankroll to try and make any betting system work (but they dont). I will say that roulette is beatable though, on a REAL wheel.

Pick a good set of losses you're willing to take then do the math on how to break it up the wager per round.

    Probably the best thing in casino roulette is just watching other people play. Buy a drink (they're usually cheap to get people drunk & make stupid decisions) & observe. I've seen people who don't even know the rules (they ask the cashier about odds, payout, how to play, etc.) what more the probabilities & chances... plonk down & lose hundreds or even thousands in 15 minutes.
