It's not aged in the slightest, still as sharp and funny as ever. It was such brave idea to set a sitcom in a prison, it could have been disastrous. It must have been tricky deciding what Fletcher's crime should be. It had to be serious enough for him to go to prison for 5 years but not so serious it would turn the audience off of him.

Only Fools and Horses gets anywhere near Porridge.

I never found the Two Ronnies funny, the play on words and the jokes were totally predictable and puerile but as comic actors they were both excellent, as in “Sorry” and “Porridge”. However there was one disgusting episode in Porridge, even allowing for what was deemed acceptable at the time, that put me right off Ronnie Barker. I think the episode was called “The Desperate Hours” and involved Mrs Jamieson, the Governor’s Secretary. Fletcher is in the Governor’s office and crowds Mrs Jamieson into a position where she has to slide past him while he plainly presses his crotch against her with a lecherous smirk on his face. It was totally unnecessary and I am no longer a fan.
