Had they not made the documentary I doubt it would have ever gone to trial. This whole case trying to be delayed and looked over is disgusting in itself
The documentary had zero effect on this case getting to trial. It takes years for a normal civil case to reach a jury, let alone one as complex as this.
I agree 💯
Nope, this trial was planned for September 2023 before the special released. Its common for cases to take years
@@rescuedogtrailrides6352well you’re wrong so
Incorrect. It stated at the end of the doco when the trial date was set for.
The documentary however did bring a lot more eyes onto this case in terms of the general public. Disgusting behaviour by the system. And also very common all around the world. Glad the family got some justice
The doctors at the hospital mocking Beata's death as well as mocking Maya's condition was one of the most unprofessional and disgusting things I've ever witnessed from health "professionals". They don't care about the families, the patients, the pain, the sleepless nights. All they care about is the money they get from insurance and going on their little vacations. May this life and the next become their worst nightmare.
it's something I have noticed with medical staff everywhere in the world. they deal on a daily basis with a lot, not to mention that some are working extreme overtime hours, and they reach to a point where they simply are desensitized. Patients are objects to them. Unfortunately, this sort of treatment was given to my poor grandma... there are very few doctors and nurses who don't lose their human touch so to speak
As a doctor I was also as disgusted, as you. I treat every patient with the care I would expect mine to receive.
@Rosispergia My grandmother's passing was also a result of the hospital staff's negligence. Though becoming desensitized is common in such work environments where death is almost a daily occurrence, that's no reason to mock or consider a human being under your care to be of no importance, much less when such human's life depends on your duty as either a nurse of doctor. I've met/know people who have been (and still are) exposed to human death on an almost "normal" basis (doctor and military), and yet their empathy is intact. Not once do they speak of the ill nor the dead as if their life wasn't worth saving.
@@myrkvdr well said I treat each Patient as I would expect my loved ones to be treated most Drs I know think the same
@@myrkvdr I know many doctors as I come from a family where all my siblings are doctors and it is very common to hear nurses and doctors and consultants not really care for their patients. It feels like a conveyer belt at certain hospitals as well, patient in and then out and then the next one. This isn't an excuse but this doesn't happen out of thin air, these people in these positions are given too much work and sure they are paid for it but it kills their empathy and kindness, not all of them but there is quite a few in every hospital.
When he left maya dry from sharing the letter she wrote in the Netflix film… BROKE MY HEART. He is so heartless
In that incident the judge appeared to be taking direct orders from his masters (the ultra wealthy’s attorneys). The Johns Hopkins lawyers was talking to the judge as if he was his boss & the judge immediately put his head down, toed the line & followed orders from his master. And the sad part, when Johns Hopkins appeals this settlement, there’s going to be hordes of judges eager to help Johns Hopkins scr3w this family even more than they already have. In the end, the family will only receive a tiny fraction of what the jury awarded.
With these huge settlements it happens every single freakin’ time with the ultra wealthy and their bootlick!ng cronies wearing robes (aka “judges”). Always undermining the jury’s decision to protect the most vile, disgusting rich people in America.
@@mikeappleget482 Agreed. Its like what else do these Judges doing? The way people wait for a hearing to start then zip thru cases. Do they even work at least 4hrs a day. I doubt they work anything over 6.
@mikeappleget482 man that's so bloody sad I have no idea how the American justice system works 😢 I'm sure for every cent given they would absolutely give it all up to have their mother back
The judge has shown several times his bias in favor of John's Hopkins Children's Hospital.
Maybe they should move the case to another jurisdiction due to conflict of interest
This isn't a bias. John Hopkins' attorneys are ENTITLED to know these things. This is dirty tactics and can result in a mistrial and/or sanctions if a judge thinks it's getting to be too much. As much as I want the Kowalskis to win, the judge has every right to be mad and tell the attorney off here.
@@teemyoutube2066actually they aren’t entitled. He has a witness list and they are to assume he can call anyone on that list at any time but doesn’t have to call any of them. They aren’t entitled to know more than that
@@teemyoutube2066yes - this is a bunch of gold diggers. Extremely unethical plaintiffs counsel. They have to rely on tricks to try to win.
Well even the judge couldn't stop justice being served in this case, thankfully.
Why don’t you show the clips of the judge getting frustrated with the defense attorney who tried to keep relevant evidence from the jury and exclude a qualified witness?
Because $$$$ hello?
This judge needs to get off the bench. It's clearly obvious he's in the pockets of the hospital.
It’s not just the lawyer. Judge Carol is the judge that made the decision over 5 years ago to delay the case.
the judge is definitely paid by the John Hopkins hospital pray the Jury’s are honest
Say it ain't so
@@democracysdoomsday7905 I saw the court hearing 5 years ago and it was the same one. I will try and find it.
Judge Carroll was not involved in this case 5 years ago….at all.
@@MamaBear0417yes he was he’s on the Netflix show
The treatment of this family is disgusting and vile.
Start protecting itself
Yeah I agree this is really shocking to say the very least.
I can't stand that judge. Just the fact he doesn't shaves off those tiny bits of hair in the middle of his head screams mid life crisis. No matter how many cases are coming down the pike ,the Present case shouldn't have to cut corners and leave things out. It's that whole treating people like cattle. I'm so happy she won
Yes of course the judge needs a shave
I couldn’t stop staring at his hair.
@@notbroku9528 ...........Yeah, he needs to go ahead and shave it off. no use in holding on to it.
The hair completely dismisses him professionally. He needs a toupee.
This is crazy. The hospital has so much power and so many political connections and probably board members that are so rich that they could buy anything and they’re torturing this family. When does it end. What they did was wrong…what they did was disgusting and they did it to so many other families too. Shame on them, I hope karma comes around sooner than later.
🙏 Amen
What a drama queen of a judge!
They’ve all been dealing with each other for years, I think patience is wearing thin lol
JHC didn’t believe her but the hospital still billed the Insurance Company with her disease!!
How do you think our Godless 5 billion in fruad fines medical system became a leader in fruad and iatrogenic death? (see: the Johns Hopkins [low-ball] iatrogenic study claiming "medicine" only kills 250,000 annually or only 684.9 a day!) Don't you know, "Death is the wages of sin, vs the gift of God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our lord."?
Corruption in the medical field isn't new.
Yes! Over 500k worth of bills!
@MIAreturned How many people who can think, would agree with you & JHACH?
This judge needs to clean up . Looks like a drunk for days and just rolled out of bed 🤔 …
That is very unkind. He is doing a good job of administering a fair trial. Very hard work.
I feel like shaving that island of hair... Is that illegal?🤔
@kevinhornbuckle um he is the one who tried to keep it out of court all these years and dismissed maya and her family over and over. He is bought by the system, he is awful
@kevinhornbuckle I believe he's being fair and impartial also!
Agreed. He treats this whole case like he's doing amateur night at the comedy club. Telling jokes. Trying to tell jokes. Failing hard at telling jokes. This isn't funny, it's a damn shame!!
You guys didn't show the GOOD STUFF!😂 Maya's attorney called a witness that PROVED SHE WAS TREATED LIKE A PRISIONER AT JOHN HOPKINS! DAMN!
Just finished the documentary and it killed me,they deserve every single penny of that $220 million PLUS...
Same and 100% Agree!! 👏🏾
Amazing how the system works against good people.
The judge was a lot angrier with the defence lawyers the next day when they tried to squash Dr. Corcoran’s testimony.
I'm so glad they made a documentary and Beata was so brave! I stand behind this family and the other families that's been wrongly accused and poor children snatched out of their mom and dads God given right to parent!
The hospital is quilty as sin!
As trial now over, it's interesting to compare the judge's response to JHACH knowingly giving false testimony and not turning over related docs on their license and accreditation review (occurred during last few days of trial). And it was an accident that it came out. It appeared this was one of many discovery violations, and very serious as it was definitely withheld on purpose. Yet, judge didn't hold lawyers or JHACH in contempt, much less raise voice at them.
This judge needs sleep. Clearly he is mentally unstable.
Well its really frustrating to see the victim getting victimize by justice system
Coming back from the whole trial
I’m highly concern with the attitude and the professionalism of this judge
I hate this judge too!! He delayed the trial..
So let me get this straight...
The family's attorney isn't telling John's Hopkins attorneys all the information they're ENTITLED to hear/see???
Kind of like how Maya's parents were NOT given all the information they DESERVED to receive while Maya was in their care?
Hmmmmmm....
I truly hope Maya & her family win!
❤️🙏🏻❤️
PS- yes, I know that counsel is supposed to communicate with each other. I just find it ironic. Maybe JHACH will understand juhhhhhhhst a tiny bit of what Maya's parents were going through, not knowing important information.
Great point!! 👍👍👍
The judge is so biased!!!! When will someone treat this family with compassion? They did nothing wrong yet the court and hospital treat the remaining members of the family like criminals
This is another injustice to the Kowalski family! This is not helping their mental/emotional health and not helping the case!!! Shame on their lawyer! I SUPPORT MAYA KOWALSKI
I stand with you on this. I can't believe the amount of boot lickers backing these giant corporations who would do the same exact thing to them.
@@jhodson10 Maya was a faker and is currently a liar.
Sorry but you don’t “fake” that level of severe chronic pain. Where’s your evidence?? Are you a licensed doctor??Clearly you have never experienced a disability like this (and I hope you never do bc it’s not fun)I’d also like to add that now just because Maya is now walking this does NOT mean that the disability ever goes away it’s managed with treatment (which I might add was diagnosed by a doctor)Many times even after finally finding a plan that works you will still have flare ups & bad days and though we learn to deal with our symptoms becoming very good at seeming “ok” the struggle with our pain is still there. This is something that you will NEVER understand till you experience it yourself and trust me it takes its toll never mind on top of everything Maya physically experienced there was the severe emotional distress that she went through being taken away from her family & as a result losing her mother.
@@shannondominguez9725 I agree 💯 how could a ten year old possibly hold her feet in that long keeping them positioned and why would a ten year old tell her uncle Bob to help her out of the pool, leaving all the other kids..defense is off their rocker
@@sherryscarabino255 Yes!! There is absolutely zero logic in what the defense is trying to push through its beyond ridiculous!! With the way her feet were contorted there’s no way Maya would’ve been able to get in/out of the pool by herself without screaming in pain never mind actually swimming. My heart broke listening to this sweetheart cry out begging for someone to take away her pain there was several times where I was in that same situation wanting my mom to help me & she couldn’t even though I know if she could have she would have done anything to ease it. Our diagnosis are different but I understand & what truly made me see red is the “doctors” telling a little girl that HER feelings/pain weren’t real that she was a liar, instead of listening to her & Beata they tried convincing her that her mom was a horrible person and that everything she was experiencing with her body was all in her head, which I too have personally been told by a therapist(and even a close family member who I love dearly)who bc of his fancy doctorate degree felt he knew better than me & what I live with every day;I get it but personally nobody will know it better than the one living in the body that doesn’t cooperate so it really ticks me off when there’s these keyboard warriors over here hiding behind a screen who haven’t a CLUE about what it’s actually like living with a chronic illness come be in my shoes for awhile you’ll get humbled REAL quick.😅🫶
Does this judge not have access to a shower and a razor? He looks like he was out partying at the midnight hour when the attorney was receiving documents! This is not even stylish grunge or Covid isolation reaction--just sheer laziness! Does he have on sweat pants or pajamas under his robe?
You all criticizing the appearance of the judge is so lame. When the trial day ends, do you think he is the bar lounge? His work is not done at the end of a trial day. He has lots to do behind the scenes at the end of the day to prepare for the next day and take care of things that may have come up. He probably spends hours reading stuff that he has to decide on before it goes in front of court and jury. Stop being so judgemental about his appearance. He is not there to look beautiful for you. How many of you tell your children not to judge by appearance at school? Jeez be adults...
That poor mom and her child, what they went through and poor Maya losing her mom thanks to the cruel kidnapping of the child. So horrible. Massive wrongdoing of the authorities in taking that poor child. Maya deserved better from the hospital and social worker. She lost her mom that she loved all because of a horrific power struggle of an insane worker...
Bc the judge is bought by the hospital
this judge is mad at them everyday and has been from the jump to be fair
This judge seems
like he is not well . I feel he is a 'functional drinker ' /personal issues.
🙏🤞Justice for Maya
Why would you make an accusation defaming this judge?
They didn't "defame" him. They voiced their opinion, and thoughts on the judges behavior. They didn't say "he IS a drinker", they said "I FEEL he's a functional drinker..".
Has anyone ever thought that no one wanted this case it’s taken 5 years to get here JHC has at least 5 attorneys in court not counting the ones behind the scenes against 2 this not about money but yes they do have leans against them from the insurance company and hospitals so if they get money good for them hospitals have to take responsibility for who they hire and be held accountable for their actions just like any other BIG BUSINESS which is all a hospital is
Yes the judge is not for this case ….
Well maybe the hospital are getting back a bit of their own!! They never informed the parents what they were doing with their child.

@OmEvul1415 they tortured the whole family on some nit wit's strange assessment of Maya. Grooming that child is what she did! The hospital was hoping to traffick Maya into foster care or state custody of some kind. Sally Smith had sick and nefarious intentions with Maya. It's amazing what you learn when you actually watch the whole trial and not some quick bit.
The defense has been reckless in objecting to facts and appears to know the hospital staff was OCD and zealous about abuse that did not exist. The jury gets it. The defense lost the jury days ago.
the judge sadly has lost control of this courtroom. The jurors are biased as daddy is sitting there smiling and showboating w the jury. THey also had a doc on netflix that was very biased. AND there is no way this is not a biased jury. THIS is showboating plain and simple. He needs to set thejury straight about there bullying witnesses etc.

50 THOUSAND FREAKING PAGES?!? Omg that’s insane. I don’t even know how to review that many pages.
This pissy judge needs to be replaced. 🤷♂
So the judge is mad at the attorney of the family where the professionals messed up in every way possible. He proves that the professionals are any thing but professional
I don't like her attorney's techniques. He keeps doing things he knows he isn't allowed to, saying things he has been directly told not to say, and not giving information as they are required by law to do. He comes off as disorganized and trying to pull something on the court. It almost feels like he is trying to get a mistrial (which he may well be since they tried to get SA added to the allegations but the trial had already started). This moment by the judge came after many warnings to them. He is frustrated, and rightly so, by their insistence in doing things they are not allowed to do. He is only hurting his client.
This family just looking for easy street ...the daughter sounds so coached on the stand this case should be thown out. I mean dam she has a boyfriend...l dont have chronic pain but even l dont habe time energy for a relationship she also drives .
It's probably for the best that you don't, honey
And we are so tired of you Judge baldy!
They should put people in jail and they should get the money
Shouldn't the "prosecution" already have all the information? oh wait... Civil ...but took the child away from the mother? wth!
I wonder what would happen if we paid a Government run agency for our health care insurance rates and had them retain and regulate care in our interest. These For-Profit "health care" companies would disappear over night and we would do much better. Same with drugs, don't release them to private companies and their private rich families after we've paid for all the research.
Well, this didn't age well...as Judge leaves the courtroom to avoid an angry outburst at Hunter, the most BSing of all lawyers.
They need to push this case above this court and bring it to a court that will actually do something
This judge seems to be paid well
Did he say he’s tired of them not telling the OTHER side information ????? What a clown.
As a medical specialist myself, I am so ashamed of people like this with zero comprehension, understanding, compassion, empathy and above all, medical KNOWLEDGE to do the right thing. Because Plaintiff is dragging this out due to the nonsensical behaviour of Plaintiff's lawyers
Oh my, British spelling. See you down the pub mate. Jokes aside, the case is more full of poo than a septic tank. Munchausen by proxy - period. Crazy Mom offs herself.
Each side has an allotted amount of time to present their case in chief and cross X. This case is as complex as any you’ll ever see tried, primarily due to the chapter 39 protections interwoven through the whole fact set.
The plaintiff? The judge dragged this out for 5 years! Plaintiff hasn’t even used their allotted time yet
I don’t even wanna hear how the judge feels, the family has suffered far longer, and will continue to suffer from the loss of wife/mother. And it angers me that he did not allow Maya to read her statement because of the other judge that John Hopkins all hospital, didn’t think it was appropriate. This whole story is sick and sad and it’s happening to families all around there needs to be a stop to it.
he is heartless and almost hairless
Kowalski's counsel has basically cheated by slipping in exhibits the court had already forbidden and not letting defense counsel know about their evidence until it was too late for them to even review it. In my 40 years as a lawyer this guy was about the sleaziest and unethical that I've seen.

Carroll recused himself from a human rights case out of pure self interest (click my bio), in complete contempt for law (yes, stranger than fiction). It caused an instant lack of confidence in his mental capacity (intantly categorized as being of 'diminished mental capacity'). "I am so tired of how you're not telling the other side... information. It's just wrong." Better judges are everywhere to be found, God willing (my case is in Appellate Court subsequent to the equally diminished hack who replaced Carroll).
