This song never gets old and has played an important role in my life. Used to listen to this as a 15 yr old kid and now I'm a 30 year old grown man. Fav song of all time.
Yeah feel it Ive been listening to this song for years. My best friend was born without a valve in his heart and died at the age of 28 from a heart infection. We would listen to this song every day smoking weed but now it means so much more to me. Been listening to this song sence I was 15 myself now im 28
Yo I was listening to this since I was 14 n I'm 30... I feel ya dawg. I did get caught in the hustle. I never understood what he meant by lost in the bubble

***** Didn't know his career boomed, if anything it has died down the last couple years. And he's been saying the Middle Passage is coming soon for like 5 years now
I pray that God gives you the strength to overcome your obstacles. Don't give up my brother its a test. You're on the right track. Love from the UK ❤ keep up the struggle
Not just the best "Rapper", "Hip hop aritst" alive, the greatest LYRICIST of all time, there are others who have amazing skill, but nothing is on par with or surpasses Techniques content, rhyming, and ability to stay on topic regarding whatever subject the song is about, even if a verse at first seems a bit out of place its just a metaphor for exactly what he is speaking about, realest musician ever, love this guy
xxdxpure Imo technique's far superior to Nas when it comes to lyrics/concepts, Nas has better beats tho. Doesn't matter because K Rino would shit on both these guys! Just listen to solitary confinement and annihilation of the evil machine
"And it's the people that love you that seem to hurt you the most Sometimes when they die, you find yourself cursing their ghost" Almost got me in tears kuz wtf?
The lyrics of this song carries such an important meaning. To me, it's about the self-esteem of an oppressed (or previously) people and how they need to start a revolution, not overtly, but within themselves to find their pride and inner strength again and love themselves... instead of "looking at themselves through the eyes of people who hate them".
Back in my early high school days I didn't respect Immortal Technique enough as a rapper. Largely because I wasn't well versed in critical thinking of lyrics. But now that a handful of years have passed I can say with confidence that I understand his music more now. He has my eternal respect.
Seen alot of comments saying that they been listening to this song since their teenage years, it's so beautiful that so many people goes back to an amazing song like this. I used to listen to this track when I was around 14,back when I didn't know who I was or how the world worked, immortal technique and hip hop in general has taught me so much. 25 now and a big metalhead, but sometimes when I feel down or lost i come back to one of the best song I've ever listened to. Long live immortal technique!
This song sits on my old classic iPod. Over the years I've been adding songs to a list. This list comprise of songs i could never get tired of. Hiphop needs this kind of message more often.
I know this was made awhile ago but I really believe that music like this(that tells the truth for what it really is)NEEDS to be sung and as LOUD as you possibly can!! Keep singing! Keep writing! Keep being courageous! Never give up fighting for the truth! You have support!💚
“And even though we survived through the struggle that made us, we still look at ourselves through the eyes of people that hate us..” ** this line as stuck with me for so many years now!!
This song is just TOO TOO fuckin DEEP!!! The lyrics, the flow, the delivery, the woman's vocals on the hook and the outro at the end, the way that beautiful flute just comes in at the perfect time and times after.... The guitar which makes the beat.....fuckin hell! Truly a masterclass from whoever it was that produced this GOLD and the lyrical genius which is Immortal Technique. I don't think I've heard a song about LIFE as powerful as this...EVERYTIME I listen to this it's as if I'm listening to it for the first time again because I'm still after countless times of hearing these powerful lyrics amazed at just how much he bodied this shit! Truly Legendary.
I used to wonder why people don't believe in themselves, then I saw they way they portray us to everyone else. They cursed us to only see the worst in ourselves blind to that the whole time we were hurting ourselves. Deep.
I don't believe in myself because I'm scared to fail .. People have put me down so much that I'm scared to fuck up because I'll be laughed at and never given a chance again
+1945joshuaruiz Bro just do not give a fuck of what others will think of you at that moment...i have a deep and long story related to times when i was bullied and the times when i acquired self-confidence and courage to fuck up everyone who started to fuck with me... Message me i will encourage you to change your life for free:)
This song trulu saved my life as a lost and troubled teenager. It was therapeutic and made me feel like I wasn't alone. Listening to it even today just hits me like a ton of bricks. No words can effectively express my gratitude, but if you ever read this Tech...thank you from the depths of my soul.
I always listen to this when I'm feeling down and that sigh you can just about hear at the end, love that touch...definitely one of his best songs. Love it!
Heard this song when I was 11 years old. A friend serendipitously decided to upload it onto my iPod Nano. I didn’t fully understand the lyrics back then, but they left some sort of lasting impression on me. I’m 27 now and I still come back to this song to play it on repeat for hours on end at least once or twice a year. The message is still profound and the delivery is still unmatched by any lyricist I’ve ever heard.
Been a fan of immortal technique for 10 years insane how this music just gets better now that everyone so lost in the system - technique is one of the best lyricists thats ever lived.
Honestly, music similar to this, but specifically this song, has gotten me thru the toughest times. Times where I wanted to give in because no light had shone at me at the end of the tunnel. It's insane to think how music can transform/save/change your life to the extent that it does for someone. I would love for this comment to get likes so it can be seen by others who feel/felt like me.
"because even though we survived through the struggles that made us, we still look at ourselves through the eyes of people that hate us" that line is one of the best i've ever heard in a rap. i'll always love IT
As a teenager this sounds hella deep, but as you get older you understand technique is speaking to us about his life and using it as a narrative. This is what makes the song so heartfelt.
Been returning to this song ever since I first heard it at maybe 14, 15 years old. I'm 20 now, studying at university and making my own music. This song keeps me going.
I remember listening to this song in some of my darkest times, a lot of nights on the pavement, the stars your only company. A lot of time has passed but songs bring it back wildly and vividly.
Whoever disliked this song is blind.. And it's sad.. That so many people are blind. I shook his hand twice and had a chance to talk to him for a minute. Every second in his presence made me feel like a true warrior. I feel like he really is a genuine person that cares about the people, about the world. And that is a man I'd follow. That is a man id fight side by side with along with every other righteous man trying to make the world a better place.
"I used to wonder..used to wonder about people who don't believe in they self. Then I seen the way they protrayed us to everyone else, they cursed us, to only believe the worst in ourselves. Blind to the fact the whole time we were only hurting ourselves..." Dude was so damn raw, never sugar coated shit. Straight smacked tf out of us with truth and didn't give af about the repercussions..no wonder he don't write no more...he was to powerful...what happened to hip hop?
Tech said he wrote this song in just an afternoon in contrast to Dance with the Devil and You Never Know, which both took years. But this is still my favorite, I can't say why.
I can see that it doesn't have a story line I always thought he sort of just wrote this out of his mind quickly it's still one of my favorite songs ever
This song has been on repeat for days now! It gives me reasons to fight on! Whoever is listening to this masterpiece, should stay strong daily!!! I hope you find sinews in Immortal tech's voice!!
One of the few songs that brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it. Its that people that love you that seem to hurt you the most, sometimes when they die you find yourself cursing their ghost...
i used to listen to this song when i was 16 to escape the pressure and depression my family put me under , this is the first time im listening it exactly 16 years later and im far from all the things that made me feel less of a person and im on the brink of a financial breakthrough.. this song and so many others helped me and i cant thank you guys enough
Wow. Every time I discover another piece of Tech's poetry, I feel like I've wasted so much time just by not listening to it until now. This man is a master at his craft. Period.
this track shares so much personalty, wisdom and a deep glimpse in a human soul. he deserves so much more respect for thinking outside of the box and connect the dots between the conflict we livin ourself as well as mankind as a whole.
man, i must've listened to this song like a million times. and still, STILL, everytime i listen to it, i am fuckin blown away. Immortal your are immortal.
+summr123 all i hear is not everyone wants to listen to political music, not everyone wants to listen to conspiracy theories, not everyone will accept Immortal Technique as an Independent Rapper. Immortal Technique is a rapper that gets 100 percent of every song he makes, a rapper that doesn't have a big label company telling him what to do, a rapper that comes from the struggle and now is an activist speaking the truth. Immortal may never get a Grammy, but he has influenced me to become aware of my own country, my government, and inform me about today's world wide problems.
This is real hip hop dawg💯🔥👺 I wish he would come out with sum like this in 2021. He never went mainstream bc he talks about shit they don't want him talking about
Started to listen to immortal technique at age 13. He's the reason I only listened to true lyrical hip hop. He's one of the most underrated emcees in history. Bringing the truth in the form of hip hop
Hear, hear. I've been down to the bottom of many bottles. My mind has been in very, very dark places where I thought I would never crawl and scrape out of. I'm still here, thanks to music like this; family and friends count too, but music has healed me like no other.
You know what, long after I first heard this song, one day I realised it's more meaningful and helpful than (probably) any self help or motivation book out there,...(probably, because I didnt read any)Maybe every person in this world should hear these verses, it carries a simple and open-hearted message, if you can read between the lines. Strong intellectual value, love it.

One of the greatest songs ever written
"If the solution has never been to look in yourself, how is it that you expect to find it anywhere else?" - Immortal Technique
One of Tech's songs I've been listening to for a while now, still one of my favorites!
Fell in love with song when I was going through the most.... I have never stopped loving the TRUTH in the lyrics.

2025 and this one is still 🔥
As a teenager this sounds hella deep, but as you get older you understand technique is speaking to us about his life and using it as a narrative.

I listened to this song when I was 12. 30 now and these words hit harder and make you realize Tech was just speaking truth.
Success is psychological.
My favourite quote. 🔥
Whoever disliked this song is blind.. And it's sad.. That so many people are blind. I shook his hand twice and had a chance to talk to him for a minute. Every second in his presence made me feel like a true warrior. I feel like he really is a genuine person that cares about the people, about the world. And that is a man I'd follow. heard this for the first time recently and think its amazing, something about it...
that will be the feeling of truth.
"I used to wonder..used to wonder about people who don't believe in they self. Then I seen the way they protrayed us to everyone else, they cursed us, to only believe the worst in ourselves. Blind to the fact the whole time we were only hurting ourselves..."
Dude was so damn raw, never sugar coated shit. Straight smacked tf out of us with truth and didn't give af about the repercussions..no wonder he don't write no more...he was to powerful...what happened to hip hop?
He ages so fine! All of his songs are still as relevant now as then. No wonder I never hear his songs on the radio. He is a treasure to humanity.
Tech said he wrote this song in just an afternoon in contrast to Dance with the Devil and You Never Know, which both took years.
But this is still my favorite, I can't say why.
I can see that it doesn't have a story line I always thought he sort of just wrote this out of his mind quickly it's still one of my favorite songs ever
probably was in the zone, and in that zone he created one of the best songs of all time
Even though dance with the devil is one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time, i agree I like this song better, it's raw inspiration.
Me too. It's so honest, it feels like he just let it come out of deep inside him
One of his best. This one came from the spirit.
This beat is beautiful I keep coming back to this track every few months for years
17 years ago. How do i not know this song. I needed it 10 years ago😢
"I'm like the little kids on T.V that dig through the trash, I hustle regardless of the way you talk shit and laugh"

Strong intellectual value, love it.
