Modern Ninja Gaiden and Street Fighter 2 also have so many updated version of one game as separate game. This is a common practice for game developers.

@@8Yaron8 Those are both series that have been around for over 30 years, which is fair enough. We have 3 different remakes/remastered/special ports of the original Neptunia game, which is only 11 years old.
In this 11 year old series, we have 4 mainline games, which sounds not too bad, except that all 4 of those were released within the first 5 years. The time between now and the last new major entry in the story is *longer* than between that game and the first game.
Of 17 games released in the series so far, only 4 have been original main story games. Another *6* have been remakes/enhanced ports of those games, of which 3 were of the original game, and the remaining 7 have been spin-offs. 41% spin-offs, 35% remakes, 24% original main story games, of which none have been released in over half the series' lifetime, for an 11 year old series.
Loads of content to buy and play, but the series *really* needs to spice up what that content is, otherwise it probably won't make it another decade, which I think we can all agree would be a really sad thing to see.

If idea factory and compile heart wanted to make this game like the ultimate Neptunia sandbox with all the characters, weapons, equipment, etc there is no excuse they don’t have the NEXT forms and Gold Third. They also left behind the far superior transformation sequences from VII.
It also uses the same engine from the first PS3 Neptunia game

Unfortunately including the NEXT forms and etc. content from VII wouldn't make sense in Re:Verse, since it's a remake/retelling of the first game. Maybe foreshadowing/hinting them would be applicable.

I add one thing - while fishing you can get a text plot from the original Hyperdimension Neptunia for PS3, the character database will contain information about Nisa and Gust. And there is also a flaw in this game, where Neptune says "Previously on Hypedimension Neptunia rebirth 1", but we are playing in "Neptunia Reverse", one letsplayer abandoned playing precisely because of such "bug". It seems that the developers have forgotten about this moment. Waiting for them to fix this problem.

Even as a massive Nep fan who has all the games and the art books, I really don’t see the point of this release. And if super fans are not interested, who on earth is this for?
@Ephaistos Vanguard Like me. This will be my first Nep game, but I have been aware of the series for a while now, just never found the time to get into it. So I do understand how fans are annoyed at yet another rerelease instead of a new mainline game.

Me, as I got into neptunia after I tried death end re;quest, started with VII and played 4 godesses, rpg and virtual stars after.
Honestly wish I got into it at ps3, but this is a chance to somewhat experience the older games.

I'll admit I'm not that savvy about what makes good graphics, or how exactly I wish the graphics/artstyle would improve while remaining true to Neptunia, but I've seen some pretty good graphics/artstyle on games that came out years ago so I wish Compile Heart would put even a bit more effort into improving them.
Still waiting for a new installment to the main line Neptunia story.

Why can’t we still play as Rei Ryghts, Idea Factory? And where is the “HYPERDIMENSION” part in the title for this game?
Because its not hyperdimension. After VII I'm guessing they decided to fix the game titles. But instead of calling it superdimension they just named it neptunia to not confuse oversea players.
@@SaintDragon666 I have to disagree with you on the title. This game is a remake of the very first game in the Neptunia series, which was called HyperDimension Neptunia. Because of that, I think the name for this game should’ve been HyperDimension Neptunia Reverse. Getting rid of the “HyperDimension” part in the title for this game only serves to confuse long time fans of this series, who have stuck with the developers from the very beginning.
@@TheManofIdeas1 The original games name is superdimension in the japanese title. The second game is hyperdimension. Ultradimension for the third game and megadimension for the 4th main title.
For some reason they use hyperdimension for all neptunia games during the ps3 when translated.
@@TheManofIdeas1 And just a little bit of info drop. The first game has no connection with the other main line games. The Neptune we play as from 2-4 is the hyperdimenion version. So if they use hyperdimension in the title for game 2-4 it would at least kinda makes sense but since superdimension is completely seperate from the other games it makes no sense.
Needs the following. New gameplay More characters More fan service New Story New transformations More costumes.
What is not needed. Remasters For the love of God stop with the remasters.
Am I the only one who thinks the new UI of the game looks ugly? I prefer the classic menus, HP bars, and icons! Also the pseudo-realistic ground textures feel completely wrong for a Nep game.

Yeah, they need to patch that to either: "Previously on Hyperdimension Neptunia" (If they can't be bothered to make a new voice clip) or "Previously on Neptunia Reverse"
I really love how someone with a mature and deep voice is explaining these type of games and i love it!
I think Nep's personality may be based on the fact that Sega was always the cool, rad and sometimes silly company while also being mature by having always the goriest / mature ports and games back then on the SNES vs Genesis days.

I'm playing the Re;Birth titles right now on my Vita (first time). I really like them so far! But yeah...this looks almost identical to the old remakes. I think it's a great pick up for someone who has never played the series, but not for those who have other versions.
I'm doing game play of this and this video was an interesting watch. I'm pretty happy with my copy of the game as well but like you said a new mainline Nep game is badly needed. I think its fair to say that us Nep fans are anxiously awaiting such a thing.
it will be funny if the reVerse stuff can be bought as DLC for the steam Rebirth1 release, but something tells me they might want to charge as a full game if they ever release this into PC... the UI looks nice, but this is pretty low effort even for Neptunia standards
Im done with these developers. They are NEVER going to really make us a new neptunia game we want they are just going to keep remastering and remaking games they already did. DONE
I actually heard they censored out Uni’s “Charley Horse!” attack for ReVerse, changing the animation to just throwing out a black ball, but I’m not sure if this information is accurate.
Does anybody with the game know if this is true or false?
True considering sony hates anime games and like garbage like tlou2. It shouldve been obvious as soon as you see the game cover art which was censored

For a remake of remake, I found it surprising that the LE sold out a lot faster than the other recent release Virtual Stars. I find it very concerning to say the least.
This game needs a switch release, also Uzume just looks SO captivating when she's standing still with her hair waving in the wind like that! 😍💕
As much as I would love a Switch release, unfortunately I don't see it happening for another couple of years due to hardware differences. I would like to see the Rebirth trilogy ported to the Switch though
The disastrous (exaggerating) port that was Megadimension VII on Switch, including how half-assed it was, I don’t see a trilogy release on Switch if they can’t hire a competent company to port those games over to the platform. Luckily, there are options to turn of shadows, outline, effects to get a more reasonable frame rate at least. Turning all of these off, the game runs at a solid 30fps, but still dips in some dungeons so there’s that.
Re*Verse probably isn't going to get a Switch release because it looks mostly like a tech demo for PS5. They can disable Ray Tracing, but all the puddles and bridges and stuff will just look really ugly without it or they'd just have to nerf them to Screen Space Reflections
at this point, this has to be the laziest, lowest effort company in all of gaming. i'm not buying any more of these low to no effort cash grabs anymore...

This is late asf but yes she has weapons but no armor other than the ones that go for everyone. For some reason she's the only character missing coupling combos, her animations are missing for her rush moves and to top it off they messed up one of her voice lines thats supposed to play during her exe drive move. That's about everything I've noticed she's been in my party from start to finish.
Oh and this is unimportant but I thought it was funny because of how lazy it is, everytime she gets a new weapon it just adds "+1" to the name like "Dream megaphone+2 - +3 - +4" ect. They really gave her the short end of the stick, at least her exe drive is completely broken and does the most damage in the game it seems on her last punch
@@gameexpert133 You can say that again, especially since A. They give Plutia one of Noire's lines when she jumps, and the midway point refers to the game as "Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth 1"

They should have put all the rebirth games in one disc instead.

Its probaly erasier in reverse since you have an extra chracter. Though I suppose unless your using a DLC one or playing that other game mode from the start you wont yet have a chracter to use that slot with.

Re;Birth 1+ is already on PS4, they just probably won't bother with 2+ or 3+ since 1+ never got localised

I'm actually impressed they tried to get into the PS5 early but really wonder who they intend to attract. Since there are so few people who actually already own a PS5 I don't think this game will sell well. I didn't buy the Vita games because I own the originals hence I would not this even if I had a PS5. I don't know how other Nep fans think about this.
Without a new non-spinoff they might loose fans but IF/CH seem to have been busy with other games like Mary Skelter Final.
What amazed me about this remake of ReBrith1 is that they kept the OG Noire Voice rather than using her new voice from 4GO and VIIR. Makes me wonder what happened behind the scenes here.
Tsunako actually only works for commission for neptunia games now and most of the art is done by someone else. If you look at the LE box art for re Verse and the Vtuber game you’ll notice the art style is kinda different so are some of the new arts in the Re Verse game!

Neptunia ReVerse is a remake of the PSVITA game Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 1 which was also a remake of the PS3 game Hyperdimension Neptunia. Regardless, I still bought the limited edition game for my PS5.
One thing I don't get. Around the time of your review Tara Platt returned to the voice acting scene as Edelgard in Three Houses. Couldn't the voiceover company call her up to reprise her role as Vert/Green Heart?

0:23 I have bad news about that box art cover, i just checked the game on Amazon and purple heart, black heart, and green heart, boobs are covered in the art. Unless they did that on purpose and when you get the physical copy and their not covered. But sadly I doubt it...

VVV (Virtual Stars) Also didn't have a spot for the Standard PS4 Case as it included the Day One Edition Box instead and the LE included a Steel Case to put the disc in which did have a spot in the LE Box... (This Steel Case was sadly DVD Size, NOT PS4 SIZE, LIKE WTF, I CAN'T USE THAT ON MY BLU-RAY SHELF).
The Vinyl is just loose.
As someone who has never played the 1st neptunia game I can see why people who have feel kinda disappointed, but I am actually excited to play it.
Should've just made the fishing minigame act like Sonic 3 & Knuckles on certain consoles and collections.
If you own the Re;Birth trilogy and the fishing minigame you can access it through a special menu or special menu tab in the trilogy or play it solo with the ability to carry over save data to and from both games. If you owned a non Re;Birth game you can access a special version based off of the game minus the ones with traditional gameplay styles.
Cash grabs are no adventure. Very boring and very bland.

TBH I wish there were more recent releases for the PC or Switch. ): This one, I don't see major difference in the graphics to get, if I had a PS. I do not have a PS because it's too pricey for me and isn't have a wide options of indie games such as the PC and the Switch.
I was pissed they cancelled my limited edition of this game so I had to get only the normal version. I have been a huge fan of this series since it began. Love your reviews by the way. Just hurt my heart to see the limited edition

This is my first PS5 game! Purchased it thanks to the nice LE, but I don't have a PS5 to play it on yet! Would have been better to keep this on the PS4... but I'm somewhat happy with this since they never gave us a Western version of RB1 for the PS4. I'd be happy getting RB2&3 for the PS5, but happier if they gave a mainline game. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for this review. I'm really enjoying Megadimension Neptunia VII (which I downloaded off PS Now) and I haven't played the original version of this one or Rebirth so I'll see if I can get ReVerse cheaper than $50. But it does sound pointless to play if you already played those. It definitely sounds like it could have been a PS4 release.

Hopefully they'll be a readmaster of hypertension Neptunia rebirth 2 and 3.

I think Neptunia is trying to compete with Lunar with how many times they can remake/remaster the first game.
That said, I have Re;Birth 1 on Vita, and I would like to play it on a console, so in the far future when I have a PS5, I'll probably grab it if I can get it for a good price

They just wanted to sell the game on ps5, but needed a new name to differentiete from the previous ge version, so they just made the minimum amount of changes to justify a new name. It’s as simple as that, in fact there is no need for this on pc where you can still buy and play re birth
Plutia has noire ya when she jumps they never fixed that kept in this remaster sort to ps5 And wish they ported 2 an 3 as well they port 1 in Japan as rebirth plus jp only ps4 before they did this reverse And it’s missing the fairy fencer f dlc cross over
I have only played VII on the Ps4 some years ago and I honestly enjoyed it a lot. And I never thought I would be seeing the same animations of that game on this one.
Of course I haven't played the other ones so I don't know how much they reuse in each game but seeing the same animations of Uzume of VII is... Well...

I am new to the neptunia series, not even sure which one to play first, i am more interested in the gameplay than the plot or the "plot"
So far it seems like they really like to remake games a lot and re-use a lot of assets, also in some of the games tamsoft is involved which is bad news.
The only game i played was a spinoff, the neptunia U game and honestly it was pretty horrible for a beat em up kind of game, hitting things had little feedback , it felt like hitting air and also i manage to break the game very easily to the point i was able to beat stuff way above my level that i wasn't supposed, in less than 2 hours i ran out of things to do in that game, i know that's a spinoff and i was thinking maybe that's one of the worst games so i decided to take a look at the main ones by watching reviews and stuff but i am not convinced yet, if the only attraction are the characters, "plot" and story but not the gameplay then i don't think it's for me.
This would probably make more sense on the Switch or something instead of the PS5.

It pisses me off how they put this only on PS5 and not PS4. Especially when it’s not an upgrade and PS5 still plays PS4 games.
It's a tech demo. Re;Birth1+ already exists on PS4. It's possibly also the reason why it's not on PC despite them closing the gap with PC ports

What they need to do is just use all of their assets to make a sandbox game like GTA or something and fill it with events like a F2P game over time.

This is ridiculous. If they wanted to re-rerelease the game once more, at least they could have included the trilogy. Currently, you can't play 2 or Victory on console except for the PS3 version... but no, they just regurgitate the 1st one and expect us to say "thanks, master"...
The only reason I bought this is that I've not missed a North American Neptunia LE release since the first game on the PS3. I don't even own a PS5 yet, but what can I say- anytime a Neptunia game is announced, my wallet is at the ready! 😁
Oh, and Idea Factory International has been releasing their limited edition sets for some time now without the physical game included inside the box. I don't know exactly when this practice started, but both Death End Re;Quest games, Date a Live and the the recent Neptunia Virtual Stars all came with the LE contents and games separately.
I noticed that with Virtual Stars, but assumed it was just a one-off. I guess that's not the case. Seems like a cost savings thing since the box can be made a bit smaller if it doesn't house the game. I hope they'll reconsider their decision as I don't want a shelf full of LE boxes with separate game cases laying around.
@@YSN They’re probably doing it as a matter of course now that they/CH are doing ports to steam while releasing LEs for users getting those versions. For example, most of the LEs I got with them from their recent releases (past 2-4 years) were the steam versions as I don’t have a PS4 which many of those games were on and I figured I’ll just locate a normal physical disc at a later date to put with the steelbooks. So they likely adapted their CE boxes to compensate as it’s likely they were getting more Steam purchases over console (which would be a fair assumption considering there’s a significantly wider audience).

deff not a veteran but i never got the rebirths, besides not caring to rebuy the neptunia games for a remake back then i also am not a handheld gamer, i most likely would have bought rebirth 1 if it got the console release here so yeah im happily picking this up cant wait to play it honestly since its been so long since i played an actual main series game and not a spinoff. A little bummed to hear this looks worse then some of the others due to it being a port of handheld..... like seriously wtf this crap rly peeves me Dragon Quest 11 did this shit where their enhanced difinitive edition looked worse on the same console as their original releases due to it being a port of the switch version of them and they even pulled such a dick move as to make the original BETTER looking version completly unbuyable as a new purchase going forward. i think if your going to leave the graphics looking older it shoulda been ps4 or at the least hybrid release im pretty sure using the haptic triggers just for a single minigame that most wont dive to hard into would not have been missed.
