SOLIDWORKS 2021: Reverse Engineering 3D Scanned Models With Mesh Data

As time to market decreases, the need to quickly create a base model to work off of becomes even more important. We found this out in our Snowboard binding project. With the season quickly coming to an end we needed to rapidly make sure that we had a working part before the snow melted.
In our previous video, we saw how quick and easy it is to create a complete scan with the Creaform HandyScan Black elite. This scanner produces an extremely high-quality mesh cloud that is useful but not easy to manipulate.
With SOLIDWORKS we can quickly take our scanned data and convert this data into a solid model that is easy to edit and manipulate with SOLIDWORKS intuitive interface.
