    I'll admit that I'm old-school but the common Darkglass sound has always sounded thin and scratchy to me. This pedal seems to do a good job of putting the balls back into the DG sound. Sounds great with you playing it brother, cheers!

      Thank you. This one definitely has a bit more meat on the bone.

      Heard. I like the darkglass sound for others but would not like to sound like everybody else’s 2024 sound.

      I got one years ago because I heard some amazing sounds come out of it but never quite figured out how to make it sound right. Kinda feels dull and oversaturated with not nearly enough mid response.

    It's good to see you, man. Thanks for posting stuff I like.

    DUDE!!! It is so effin cool to have a channel that primarily bassists can go to and see this equipment demonstrated by a real metal bassist!!! It's not often you can use the word articulate when talking bass distortion, but you've demonstrated its articulation and versatility. Definitely one of my new Christmas presents this year Rodney. Thanks for what you do for the bass community \m/ \m/

    "The market is stale, everything is a copy of something else, except this thing, this is brand new! So anyway, it's based on a RAT..."
    Great sounding pedal! I blend a RAT in parallel with my DG X7, getting that mix of modern high gain, classic raunch, and fat compressed low end

      The Rattler is better than this pedal... it's also better than The RAT 😆

    Thank you for another thorough review, Rodney.
    As far as distortions go, I've been sorted for years now with the Damnation Audio MBD, but it's always motivating to check your videos out.

      Glad you found your home. It's great to have options, isn't it?!

    • @Andeimir
      @Andeimir 5 дней назад

      @@RodneyMcG Sure is. Doesn't entirely stop me from messing around with other options from time to time (currently the Kasleder Jellyfish), but the MBD has more or less been an always-on for the past 7 years, which is near enough to my total playing time. Wishing you well, and not just for our sake as an audience.

    Rodney-Great demo of this pedal I really really dig the "modern tone"- ground switch. I believe Nuno said, the scoop EQ (ground switch)is taken from his GK800 preamp they make. Lusitahand makes an onboard GK800 preamp inspired by the Gk800, and its sounds killer.

    • @RodneyMcG
      @RodneyMcG  5 дней назад +1

      You are correct. I'll be doing that preamp soon

    Good to see another video from you. Hopefully, you're doing well. Thanks for doing this review. I've been on the fence about getting the Mk2.
    I'm guessing you'll be reviewing one of the filter [Wal style] preamps that he has? It'd be interesting to see someone do a review of one that isn't just trying to sound like Justin Chancellor. Don't get me wrong, he's great, but there's more out there.

    • @RodneyMcG
      @RodneyMcG  5 дней назад +2

      Thanks for the kind words. The MKll had a lot more going on than I expected for sure.. I'm actually going to be doing his 800 preamp next. I'm a big fan of the 800rb and am looking forward to it. The Wal filter does look interesting. We may get to that as well.

    • @cordellwalker7049
      @cordellwalker7049 5 дней назад +1

      @RodneyMcG the 800rb preamp looks interesting also. It's cool that there are people recreating a lot of these old things that, in a lot of cases, became hard to come by.

    • @RodneyMcG
      @RodneyMcG  5 дней назад +1

      For sure. Sometimes what's old is new and when something isn't in fashion for a long time, it can sound fresh again especially with a new twist.

    Wow dude. You have serious chops. Sounds great , I recently went with SansAmp XB driver. So far, so good...will see if this does it for me. I'm going for BluesRock, Soul/R&B , classic Rock tones, but need to cut through as well as hear myself in Theatre size gigs . I'm super picky on having the right blend of clean and dirty .
    Best Wishes !

    • @RodneyMcG

      Thank you! I have the xb as well. You may have noticed in the sample at the end of the video, I used them both. They work great together. Thanks again for the kind words.

    But muh Darkglass and Dingwall 😟

  •  5 дней назад +1

    The problem is I would prefer the ground and pound switch be a foot switch not something i would need to bend over or band down to change.

    • @RodneyMcG
      @RodneyMcG  5 дней назад

      I get that. I feel like each one reshapes the sound in that I would make multiple adjustmens, so just flipping back and forth wouldn't really be a thing
