what's so special about her playing? i find nothing
This is the kind of playing which wins competitions: technically more or less flawless, very cautious, musical, but in a rather general sort of way which doesn't offend anyone on the jury. Also, a big competition has lots of expenses - accompanists, an orchestra, a name conductor, etc. - and Korea gives lots of money to the QE Competition. That's why you see so many Korean violinists, pianists and singers doing very well here. The question is always, which of the contestants go on to make any kind of career. Compare this to Semenenko who won second, or Hagen who won third. Above all, listen to the respective audience reactions, and ask yourself which of these three would you pay money to hear? Still: respect. This young lady is a super violinist.

@Henri Roy he did well the concours long-thibaud, but at the time he was less "gitlissy". However, if you listen to philippe hirschhorn's (1967 queen elisabeth winner) paganini concerto no. 1 it sounds like a more controlled gitlis

If money can solve everything how bts occupied the world? It is all about absolute musicality. Don't show up your complex in that way. Go to the concert in Europe. Rich old pigs occupied all seats. On the other hands, in korea we invest all to education. Finding gift and managing their development.
Very strange way of playing, with a peculiar way of using her lefthand. Because she doesn't use her fingers as a group it is also quiet out of tune. She is rather overrated. Listen f.i. to Nancy Zhou , who is so much better in the same piece.

This was okay for a professional but great for a student. Definitely not the best i've heard but it wasn't terrible at all.
No it's not just "ok" it's already a pretty high standard of playing. If you believe most professional violinists can play like that on stage you're completely delusional.
