Have been watching your mini films on the Broads which have been really helpful. We have just returned from a week on the Broads today, our first boating holiday, in fact, we saw you on the river last Sunday just coming away from the River Ant. We moored at your favourite mooring on the River Ant Wednesday night. We've had a fantastic time, keep making the films, they're great. The Sayer family.

Ahh sorry I missed you - funny we should both go with Barnes and yes I should stick with boats you steer inside and avoid being burnt. Pleased you liked the video too.

Also, just wondered have you ever hired a boat from Norfolk Broads Direct? We did, fantastic service and hospitality, beautiful craft - Fair Majesty 2 open canopy big plus when sun shining, 240v, heating, three double births, roomy kitchen and separate diner, perfect for family size. No capet on bedroom floor but slippers solve that problem and plenty of room for cases.

Great piece you did regarding the high freeboard of this boat. The boat looks like a carbon copy of the Princess 30 DS.

    Hi Robin,
Spotted you on the river and waved but I think you must have been concentrating on the saily thingys, we were out for a week on Jazz3 from barnes brinkcraft a nice company to deal with the weather was cold and damp at first but picked up nicely later on in the week, really enjoyed the blog at least this time you didn't get sunburn?

Lovely video, thanks. Those yachts at Thurne remind me of coming into Oulton Broad many years ago to discover dozens of wind-surfers. My father who was steering the boat said "I know we have to give way to sail, but which one?"!

Oh this is a hard one. Ok so Duet will have the better bed for sure, and a slightly larger heads (toilet) but what drew me to Belmore was the fact the helm was a furnished 'part' of the boat unlike Duet where it is just there to drive the boat from basically. Belmore is wider and longer and in my opinion a more luxurious boat - the price reflects that. IF I had the choice between Duet and Belmore - I'd personally go with Belmore. It also has bow thrusters and a larger aft well.

Pleased to help - That is tricky on where to go but Horning - if full moor in Le Boats Boatyard and walk in or pay and moor at the Ferry Inn. Lovely village it is - Malthouse Broad (Ranworth) then walk to the church and climb to the top for great views over the marshes, St. Benet's Abbey, Potter Heigham, Womack Water and Stalham would all be places I would recommend.

Thanks for the feedback - I have been aware of this, and indeed tried to do this a couple of times when I have said 'here is the view of what I can see' - but you are right there needs to be a bit more 'river' and less 'me'. Having said the above, when I grab the camera and hit record while underway it is often the case I simply forget to show something but more update on what has happened, where will be going to next and where currently are than to show where I am and talk of that.

3 years after I look at this video again....I commented 3 years ago..
Robin recommended this boat & I enjoyed having it for a week I think it was noisy in the main bedroom at night with water hitting the hull (not more than most boats) but it's a really nice boat for the price & this guy gives great reviews ....( he comes over as less confident here though but he really knows his stuff)
Only thing I diddnt like with this boat was the main bedroom (not a nautical term) your legs are a bit squished together...but not that much...overall it feels like you spent more money than you did....

It is (so I have found) a Princess 30 DS - just fitted out by what was then Moores of Wroxham.

Generally seems people do and have mudweighted on Hoveton Little Broad - in future I would too.

Yacht Stations (Norwich, Yarmouth, Oulton Broad and Beccles) private Broads (Salhouse and Wroxham) or private land which allow mooring (Ranworth Island) and pubs where you pay a fee refundable on the purchase of a meal are only places you pay a fee. Otherwise all Broads Authority 24hr moorings are free, mooring over boatyards is ok and free as long as not on a 'turn around day' and if there is no sign to say not, 'wild' mooring is genrally fine too e.g. moor in the middle of nowhere on the bank.

Hi Robin, great video as always. We are planning on going on Belmore 1st March for a week, we have been boating quite a few times before but never in the winter or with brinks. Would you say Belmore would be a good choice for the winter? Let us know what ya think
Keep up the Captains blogs we love em! PS when is your next trip?
    Regards
    Dale & Jamie

    • @TheCaptainsBlog
      @TheCaptainsBlog  10 лет назад +1

It has a great heating system in all parts of the boat so I would say it is indeed a good winter boat. The only gripe is the tiny toilet compartment but overall from handling to looks and comfort a good boat. I am not sure when I am going to be afloat next, possible March - but likely April.
