When changing air flow on the intake or exhaust. You should reset the computer pcm for a relearn. Will make a difference in testing if less than 300 miles since change.
Glad the video was helpful. While I still have the intake installed on my Gladiator, I fully recognize it hasn't done anything for performance or mpg. The part throttle intake sound is nice, but other than that, I just don't see where it does anything for you.
I really really, really really appreciate your video. Succinct scientific and well done all the way around. Truly rare in the hyper emotional Jeep world. Thanks for putting this up!
Interesting results and easy for me to make suggestions after the fact, but intake air temp and mass flow data logging might provide a little more insight. The practical tests performed (mpg & 0-60) show very similar results between the two.
I hate it and most of Banks stuff I like. wish I had seen this before I purchased it I pulled it off in 2 days and will probably give it away to one of my friends. Great review.
Added the Rough Country version Cold Air Intake last night. For $150 vs $350, I'd say the RC or any of the lower end intakes do as much as the Banks for a whole lot less. The noise of the engine is noticeably louder (and it has sort of a diesel whistle now too) but too early to tell if any positive or negative impact compared to the OEM intake .
Great video. Any thoughts of adding a supercharger? Lot of folks are raving about the Magnusson Supercharger which comes with 3 yr 36000 mile warranty ..
A supercharger would be awesome. But since my Gladiator is primarily a DD, I'm not sure if I'd really get the enjoyment out of spending that much $$ on a supercharger. Honestly, even with the 35"s, the 3.6L and 8spd auto do well enough in average driving. But if anybody wants to sponsor a supercharger for me, I'll take it! haha
Great video, just a few questions (1) did you install an intake and exhaust or just the intake? and (2) if you installed an exhaust, which do you have on your gladiator?
Intake only; no exhaust. And for the time being, I don't plan to do an exhaust. So many of them have a drony sound and I really don't want any more interior noise.
I just installed the banks monster exhaust on my jeep jk and just got the banks ram air today. Haven’t installed the intake but the exhaust sounds amazing on my jeep
I agree. I was actually impressed with how close the stock air box intake temps were to the ambient temps. Seems like the stock air box does a pretty good job. It's almost like those OEM engineers knew what they were doing, haha.
I own a 23 Gladiator Mojave - I bought an Injen CAI. I had the same experience - ok sounds at or below 3k RPM. Above that and when passing its way too loud (ridiculously so). I'm reinstalling the stock intake and chalking this experience up to learning. Are CAI a scam? I happen to think so unless they're used in very particular applications - not on a generally stock Jeep. Spend your money on tires, wheels and suspension, not on CAIs.
Did anyone else notice with the stock box he was in 6th gear at 75mph at 3k rpm???? Then with banks he was in 8th at 2k rpm yet the banks used more gas 😂 bs all the way, I’m on 40s on my rubicon stock 4.10 gears and get better gas mileage and I’m in 7th at 75mph

So many people listen to these stupid reviews and have no idea they need to reset and drive it for a while if they aren't going to get it tuned
I was going to buy this unit for my JK. I feel like you just saved me $350+ thank you.

Nice set up... Good to see you back...
Thanks!

Thanks! Happy to hear it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Very well done. Throw the 2 bolts back in from the old tube mount or remove the two captive nuts.
instant respect on the top gear reference "on that bomb shell"
Greatest show ever!
really appraciated for your detail review and efforts. well done.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with this intake.
Happy to share. Thanks for watching!

Any engine light yet?
@@medrel4138 no. Never got any engine light.
If I could mod my stock intake box to get the better sound I'd be happy. I may buy this just for the sound and appearance.
Great video.

Thanks for the video!
How hard is it to get the filter in and out for cleaning?
What kind of scan tool are you using? Great detailed video by the way sir. You got a new like and sub
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks for watching.
I put one on my 2 DR Taco. 5 speed, could tell there was a diffvery slight but a diff, put one on my 4 Dr Taco auto, no diff

Vast majority of after market intakes are $500 of useless parts. Good video.

@@ScrufsGaragebecause you A. Didn't get it tuned! Or B. You didn't reset the ECU so it could learn the new intake and drive it for a few weeks! Ffs
We're can buy one for my Jeep galaditor
Any engine light? Do u think that intake could void the warranty
No CEL. Wouldn’t void the warranty unless the intake was directly responsible for a factory part failing.

Thanks, glad you found the video useful!

Good video......100% WASTE of $$$ to buy CAI for this engine
I think if you truly want a cold air intake you need a snorkel.
