      Years don't matter. Its quality of training and hours

  • @speedgliding
    @speedgliding 6 лет назад +187

    Nothing surprising here. The greenbelt is a greenbelt due to age restrictions. He is actually the MORE experienced fighter. 10 years training VS 7. He trains 4X a day. Basically a PRO athlete and enough years to be a black belt training that much.

      Jack Jitsu I agree. They say mastery of an art is having 10k hours or more of experience in the art. Training for as long and as often as he does even at such a young age would definitely give him his 10k hours.

    • @EagleTrue
      @EagleTrue 5 лет назад +27

      Yes he has more hours of training but he doesn't have the strength of an adult. That shows how good his technique is. When he will reach 20 years old or 25 he will be an absolute killer.

    I don't understand the comments on the brown belt saying he is bad. 1 : respect the fighter. 2: trust me, he had all to lose accepting this fight and everyone seems to forgot this. Finally he has a life, he might work during the day and has less training time than micael. Respect both, micael is living for bjj, he is training differently. The brown belt has a life outside the mat and less training time. Belt doesnt matter here

    Micael Galvao is a beast, but props to the brown belt for taking the match. He's got everything to lose and nothing to gain. had he beat micael, he would've beaten a 13 yr old, and of course he lost, and he lost to a 13 yr old. but no shame in losing to a stud like Micael.

    a green belt is no joke, takes lots of time to earn one and years of a kids training and dedication.

    His father is a black belt; he comes from a family of black belts; he has been training (at the time of this video) 10 years; he trains 4x/day (who does that to a kid?)... He overall has amassed some serious mat time... I don't take anything from him, but who wouldn't be that good... Not many people have this level of support, input and time to get to this level of proficiency... Nevertheless, he is fun to watch...

    • @greasebob
      @greasebob Год назад +3

      Have you checked him lately? This he is 18 now and waxes black belts that have been training longer than he's been alive. Youngest IBJJF adult world champion ever at 18. Took out the much larger Leandro Lo and Lucas "Hulk" Barbosa in the same tournament. Favorite to win his division in ADCC World Championships this fall.
      "Who wouldnt be that good?" To answer your question, many, MANY people wouldnt be that good even if they trained as much as he has. What I see in this kid, is that he surpasses legends like Marcelo, Rafa Mendes, Cobrinha in technical proficiency and movement, and his run is only just starting.

  • @KelpWolf
    @KelpWolf 6 лет назад +34

    I grew up with a lot of physical activity, chopping wood, heavy lifting and carrying, running, etc. By 13, I was very strong compared to others, even athletes and older teenage athletes. What you do as a kid shapes your strength as well as your skills. This kid has been shaped by BJJ. . . which means that he doesn't have to think about what move to do next, and his strength is perfectly formed for BJJ. He probably just sees/feels his opponent as a flowing range of opportunities and potential threats. When you learn BJJ as an adult, you have to think through your moves, and slowly train it into reflex, but your mastery and reflexes will never be as good as someone who starts learning before the age of 7. Don't hate on the brown belt, he won a state-level competition. He's not bad, it's just hard for us adults to imagine how good the 13-year-old can be.

      Kid Power really? Playing outside at 13? Uh, some people do, evidently, start training in sports such as martial arts at a very young age. Most people don't want to recognize this, because it contradicts their theories, or what they believe should happen.

    He has more training and is performing well above his belt. He's actually a super inflated green black belt, props to the brown belt because frankly I would not have taken this match especially after learning the kids credentials he had to know this before accepting the match. On the other hand this just goes to show that bjj is about hard work and not always age or size. But he is much bigger than the average 13yo.

    You're a great commentator, but you're narrating every second of the fight dude.. just let em fight, it's low key pretty distracting

      It was a suggestion for you. If you don't want to be distracted by the commentator's distracting narration, just turn off your sound.

    Honestly it surprises me that someone training only seven years would be a brown belt. In my personal opinion you should be training for at least ten years under a good coach to become a black belt. This is a good example as to why it takes so long for someone to become truly a pro at this sport

      Your comment makes no sense. If takes 10 years to become a black belt how come 7 years to become a brown surprises you?

    • @ameliabender2242
      @ameliabender2242 5 лет назад

      @@joaopnz Because 10 years is the minimum it takes to be a black belt. I can't really give my opinion of how long a brown belt would take but someone of that skill would take much longer to be a brown belt. I'm not talking all brown belts specifically. I'm just referring to him when I say I'm surprised he is a brown belt

      @@ameliabender2242 you are referring to people who are training for 7 yrs being a brown belt, not him specifically. 7 yrs is plenty long to be a brown,probably the average time.

      I think Galvao would have caught a black belt in that situation

      It's possible, but the guy was supporting his weight on an extended arm, seems like a mistake a black belt would probably not make. . .
