This is not the first time, in the 70s it washed away an entire subdivision in Seguin Texas and again along the Guadalupe River in the 80's. So explain to me why Camps for Children are placed in that area where we KNOW that this can happen. Additionally, why isn't there an Siren or Alarm to warn people to get to higher ground? And this isn't over, the water could still rise if the rains come again. Campers hanging from trees this is not the first time. I just can't begin to imagine in this day and time of safety regulations this is happening.

Negative - leadership, parental, and personal responsibility! I lived in Kerrville in ‘86/‘87 and rains have always produced historical flooding along the Guadalupe.
Before sending a child off to “camp”, do your research on the geographic location, the camp’s amenities, their counselors/advisors/staff, and what emergency preparedness they incorporate into their Risk Mitigation program.
As for cutting budgets, there isn’t an agency in existence which isn’t burdened by non-productive measures / personnel and therefore, should be trimmed for efficiency.
Kerrville’s Mayor - Joe Herring, Jr. is a very good man and will do everything within his sphere of influence and power to get everyone through this tragedy.

There are other kids camps up in that area too. Plus families who live /camp along the Guadalupe river. There are many people who are missing. I think the focus should be a little bit wider to rescue everyone if possible . why hasn’t the National Guard been brought out to assist in the rescue efforts ?

There’s power in resources. There’s power in the National Guard, and not cutting the budget of.NOAA. There’s power and logic and common sense. There’s power in not having a personal agenda . There’s power in term limits.

Where's FEMA? Thotz 'n pra-yerz are fine but they don't provide emergency help when something like this happens. Want to help? Send $$$ with those pra-yerz.

I have to wonder how much of our man made changes have to do with this type of crazy flooding. Gotta tear up an empty piece of natural land to make a road or another Dollar General? That water has to go somewhere.

Isn't this area in a very low flood plain too? Alot of these terrifying flash floods and severe rains are a big RED ALERT if you live in these areas.
Are many people not aware??! This is just so sad 😢 I feel like something should've given warning????

What a horrible incident. But wasn’t there a history of the river flooding and during the time frame. Why would anyone live near a river that floods every year the danger, costs to human and personal lives and property. The insurance costs to live next to a river or flood zone is very high. I don’t understand how if a river floods every year the decision to build a home, camp next to it.

There’s flooding and then there’s flooding like this but this river has had lots of periodic deadly floods. The last was in 1987. Still the governor and legislature have refused to put in a robust warning system.
