  • In this video we compare the new Husqvarna 550 Mark II against it's main competitor in the 50cc pro class - Stihl MS 261 C. We also compare Picco/Pixel saw chains with the good 'ol 1,5 mm chains to see if there are any differences.

    Great comparison. I didn't see one bit of bias either way, only presented facts of the actual saws. Rarely seen in these compare vids. Thank u

    Thanks for the great comparison.
    I have had the MS261c for about one year now. I have used it in felling varying sized trees for firewood on our farm quite a bit. I have only positive things to say about the saw itself.
    One and the only flaw this far, are the Stihl's chains, they don't last too long until they break. I have broken 4-5 chains already.

    I have been a stihl owner for many years, I went to buy a stihl 261C and found there was only a 90 day warranty...if I used their ultra oil I could get a one year warranty which would cover only the top end.....I bought a husqvarna 550XPmark 2 it has a full 2 year warranty. SO far very pleased, they are a quality built saw, and it loves to cut.

    Tack för en suverän jämförelse.
    Jag tycker att detta var det bästa formatet jag sett för motorsågs-review. När skillnaderna är ganska små behöver man ha konkurenten/konkurenter brevid för att veta vad det är man köper.

    I loved this video, I own the Stihl MS261 but certainly wouldn’t mind owning a Husqvarna some day. As a side job I repair chainsaws and one of the things that gets overlooked a lot in these videos is the technical details like outboard clutch vs internal or the service port on the crankshaft to quickly grease the roller bearing for the clutch assembly. There are other little details to like the air filters etc that can mean a lot in terms of how long the saws last in harsh conditions.

    Thoughtful and balanced approach - congratulations. I have only one comment - not really a criticism: when assessing the effective bar length, I think the preferable measurements to take would be from bar tip (with chain on) to the tips of the dogs - rather than to the body of the saw that the dogs project forward from. One might say that the teeth of the dogs can be stuck into the bark a little, but I'd suggest this is trivial in comparison. This observation takes nothing away from an excellent comparison.

    Bra video, test och jämförelse! Överraskande mycket skillnad mellan 1,5mm och 1,3mm kedja i kaptestet. Kedja och svärd är värt att satsa på. Vore intressant att se jämförelse video mellan husqvarna x-cut 1,3mm, stihl 1,3mm och oregons (relativt) nya speedcut 1,3mm. Svärd och kedja kombo.

    Great video. The only thing that I saw as skewed was the weight test, I think that fair would have been dry. Since the Husky holds more fuel and oil than the Stihl I'll bet the 500 grams would have dissapeared, and I don't mind packing a little extra if it's gas or oil. Also since it is a complete comparison, warranty should be evaluated in which Husqvarna stomps all over Stihl. By spending less than $50 on premix fuel I can get 4 yr's on the husky, and that's something to think about with autotune saws.

    • @skogsforum
      @skogsforum  5 лет назад +1

      Du måste byta drivkrans mellan Stihls picco och RM/RS då det är olika delning. Inte med Husqvarnas system som är 0,325 båda två.
      In English: On Stihl you have to exchange the rim sprocket when mowing between Picco (1,3mm 3/8) and RM/RS (1,5 mm, .325). Not on Husqvarna who runs .325 on both systems.

    Being generous here even though the 550xp m2 holds more fuel n bar oil...it only makes up around 80-85 grams weight. So we can say that the Husky is 0.9 lb heavier than the 261c empty which I believe is accurate with their website stats. Also the 261c will rev higher thus cut faster under less load than the 550xp m2. The bore is roughly 1.5 mm larger and stroke is around 1.5 mm shorter giving it this high speed with less torque setup. Which is why I chose a 572xp over the ms 462....better build quality and the 462 had a 52 mm bore with 34 mm stroke while the 572xp had a 48 mm bore with 39mm stroke giving it the low end torque needed with a larger saw. However in 50cc range Id opt for faster speed less torque running a 16” bar and take a 261c especially with the pound less weight.

    I’ve always thought Stihl dominated the top handle saws, the 150/151 and 200/201 are the best on the market…194 is meh.
    When you get to 50cc Husky and Stihl are pretty neck and neck, even Echo has a lighter weight option than both that performs extremely well the CS-500p/501p
    60cc is pretty much a tossup, I prefer the 562xp over the stihls newer Ms 360 lineup.
    The 372xp and Ms 460/461 are the best pre electric carb saws on the market. 440/441 is more of a gentleman version but doesn’t perform as well imho.
    661c is an amazing newer saw…haven’t tried any 90cc autotune huskies. I did think the 395xp was a torque monster over the 660 magnum.
    I will also say this, Autotune Huskies tend to run lean and C electronic series Stihls tend to run rich…if you don’t keep in check the lean running Husky will burn up. Still though my 572xp is my favorite saw in lineup. But I do love my Stihls. Echo is the red headed step child of my saws, and my lender lol.

    Man skulle kunna ge båda tummar upp, om RUclips tillät sånt. Skitkul att se det här testet, bra att ni tar med era funderingar om varför det skiljer på olika saker. Jag undrar dock hur fabrikerna mäter när dom inte ens snuddar riktiga mått på svärden? Hur mäter dom allt annat då? Det skulle vara kul om ni även jämfört med någon neutral skärutrustning, säg oregon till exempel. Bra jobbat, grabbar :)

    How do you intend to cut something, all the way to the saw body? Takes some serious effort to press the pointy spikes of doom all the way in to the tree...

  • @husqvarna3726
    @husqvarna3726 5 лет назад

    In my neck of the woods any Stihl product costs at least 10% more than Husqvarna. I would say based on the results in the video that cutting performance was equal 50/50, but the Stihl takes the cake with .5 kg weight savings. Are the weight savings worth the extra $$? It also makes me wonder where Stihl might be making sacrifices to achieve the weight savings. Husqvarna is known for putting in bigger bearings, and the larger fuel and oil tanks may contribute to the heavier weight.

      I have 13" on 550, 15" on 353 and 560, 18" on 372 usually. But I can go up 20" on all. But really nobody here in sweden uses more than 15" regulary. There is no need as the trees are small, and they are heavy and expensive to work with. Most jobs are bushes or delimbing anyway.
      Why is americans always useing long bars?

    • @emilmuhrman
      @emilmuhrman 4 года назад

      True 13 inch is a way better all around bar.

    • @hnorrstrom
      @hnorrstrom 4 года назад +2

      @@emilmuhrman If I only would have one size I would go for 15" but rather 13" than 16" or higher. 550 don't go well with 20" it stalls the engine after you release the throttle. 560 works well with 20" and 353 ok, but they are too front heavy and all saws loose much power from a longer bar, so never use a longer one than needed. Its bad for the saw, your body and your wallet.

      @@hnorrstrom Totaly agree, use the shortest bar that you need. It saves the wallet and the back.

    I prefer my 501sx echo.. With a fast muffler mod it beat this two easily.. Plus it is cheaper, lighter and very well built

    • @JohnMcNerney
      @JohnMcNerney 5 лет назад +1

      For a fair comparison, you'd need to do similar mods on the 261 and 550XP

    • @johnm8891

      I have one as well. With a 5 minute muffler mod and opening up the carb the saw is a beast. Runs a lot stronger than the similar cs490. I'm tempted to buy a 261 or 550 just to see how they compare.
