Filming nothing for a year | Short film

Nothing in particular, that is.
Thanks to everyone who watched anything I put out there in 2022.
This is a collection of clips I filmed over the course of this year. I often find myself compelled to hit record on my camera without having a story to tell in that moment; and end up with a hard drive full of footage I’ve ultimately categorized as “environmental” - unattached to any project.
I’ve noticed that I have a hard time remembering things. Maybe everybody does. Recording for a few seconds as nothing in particular is happening doesn’t help me with that, but these clips are like time capsules for exactly how I felt every time the camera was rolling.
It’s only now, once I’ve spent the time to dig through these clips from the last twelve months, that I’ve realized all of those moments are a story. My environment, if you want to call it that, has changed a great deal this year. This is a shape these images reveal by coloring just outside the lines; the story of moments between moments.
I’m going to keep filming these moments, dipping into the flow of time from time to time.

Thumbs up... inspired me to just roll the camera more often, even when I've nothing much at the time to say. Curious: on your environmental footage do you usually shoot 24fps to export in 24fps?

That’s awesome! And yes, I always shoot to deliver in 24, so unless I’m filming something for slow motion I’m filming in 24fps.
