Ischial strap needs to be higher up on the ischial tuberosity! Also we were taught that you strap distal to proximal for the hare and proximal to distal on the sager.
About to do my NREMT practical on this thank you. Also we have the same ankle hitches but they are making us tie cravats for it for the test, luckily mine as they put look beautiful, so guess which part I want to do.
is it only for the mid femur fracture? because according to the book of Brunner and Suddarth Medical Surgical Nursing 13th edition, hare traction is a portable in line traction applied to the lower extremity to manage femur or hip fractures or dislocation.
hip and dislocations are absolute contraindications to use of both Hare and Sager. Think about it, if you pull traction with either of those two conditions present, you are furthering the displacement of pelvis which creates risk of illiac artery hemorrhage and with a dislocation, also creating risk of both nerve and artery hemorrhage. Both manufactures are clear they are for CLOSED MID-SHAFT FEMUR FX ONLY. Book editors are incorrect if thats what they state and would be negligent. Hard to imagine that would be in print

Not supposed to let go until straps are applied
Can't it be used for hip fracture and dislocations?

only for mid femur fracture, any other injuries to the effected leg are contraindications for using traction splints

Never use it on a dislocation. The joint is already out of place, why pull it further apart? It is only used for midshaft femur fractures.
Love this video!!!!
Yea they changed how you support it
lol try getting that into the back of the ambulance and you will find you are going to have to redo it.
