Don't forget the Strategic Defence Review of 2010 determined Sennelager would be closed down by 2020. More short-sightedness since proven wrong, and now they have to go back.

Sorry to be a bit picky, or maybe it's a touch OCD - but - what a mixed bag of vehicle colour schemes. Even disregarding the 'desert' colours the variety of fading greens used makes an aerial shot of the vehicle park look like a compost heap. Or, maybe, that's the new camouflage scheme - compost. Not a bad analogy really since a lot of the vehicles looked like they were slowly decaying. (NB: I know that I will get replies talking about " vehicle rotation" and "does it really matter" - all noted in advance, thank you).
Disgrace they cut the nuts off the Rats took away their tanks and gave them a bunch of useless jeeps and trucks with nothing but 7.62mm weapons at best …disgrace
I find it Ironic that they're called the "7th Light Mechanized Brigade Combat Team" when they dont even have a single tracked vehicle, unless the term 'light mechanized' also includes all motorized vehicles now
With what though? The US has Bradley's, Abrams, Strykers etc. and we have a few logies, land rovers, and foxhounds I'm not hating on the Army and don't like to complain about the size but it's sad really

My father was a desert rat, driving a Valentine tank up and down the desert from Libya to Egypt and back later my brother was in REME and gwas based at Senelager and Fallinbostle during the 1960’s and 70’s.
What’s the point of it? Light infantry on the eastern front? Every other country commits the most heavy units they have. If it were something like mobile drone recon units embedded with mobile brimstone launchers, that would make a difference but not what we are seeing here….
Wouldn't you rather them deter a war miles away than wait for it to get to our borders? Let them fight in other peoples backyards so we don't have to fight in ours
Tiny scale from a British perspective, but not from a NATO perspective. 90,000 is a fair old number, but yes we used to regularly field that on our own back in the 80s
What was the largest, in 1988? Wasn't that 125,000 personnel total? This is 90,000 with a different and more modern doctrine and equipment. and involving every NATO member, which now in practice numbers 32 countries. Hardly tiny in comparison. And all parallel to the Russian border, in a time of extreme tension over a potential World War.
I have noticed that the armoured vehicles now have sloped undersides. The army have learned their lessons about landmines. Sloped armour defects the blast of mines.
Surely those vehicles should have been checked by MT staff before leaving Barracks. Then the drivers would've been given the relative paperwork 21 checklist with the vehicles documentation. It would've speed up the process, serving for 22 years, sometime I think the Army is a bit backwards at time..

They won't be fighting a 'proper armoured unit', the whole point of their Recce unit is locate and fix the enemy for other assets to destroy. I understand that you've got your military knowledge from CoD so if you want any other utterly basic and obvious things explained to you then just sing out fella.
These guys seem very professional but they are being let down by British special forces who have been caught murdering civilians, a Royal Navy that can't launch missiles and a Royal Air Force having to send its pilots abroad to be trained by the Americans and Italians. Time the MoD sorted itself out to support the few good people we have left.

They would fold in short order.......but for their nukes. If they went up against NATO it would be the end of the Russian state and empire.

The entire UK contingent was deployed in ONE ro ro ship…from Marchwood - Emden in a STUFT vessel…Ship Taken Up From Trade. We have no military vessels or British merchant fleet to do this so we hire one via the Baltic Exchange. Our Land Rover fleet are un armoured and worn out too. New anything vehicle wise will take years to arrive. During Gulf 1 we hired 132 STUFT ships.

This is not the UKs entire army ! This is a task force to take part in a large exercise with multiple nations each providing their part.
