The option of a permanent ceasefire at this time is tantamount to deliberately absolving Hamas of its crimes against the Israeli people, and eliminating punishment for Hamas for its crimes. This is a very, very simple thing and very easy to understand by those who reason and are indeed just. That explains why Israel's c/q PM Netanyahu categorically and firmly rejects a permanent ceasefire before all the hostages are released and Hamas receives appropriate punishment for its brutality and crimes against the Israeli people. In PM Netanyahu's version, the punishment is in the form of destroying and eliminating Hamas from the face of the land of Israel forever, whatever the stakes and consequences. As long as this goal has not been achieved and realized, it will be impossible for there to be a permanent ceasefire, and Israel's invasion (not aggression) into the Gaza Strip will continue and continue, even if it means destroying Gaza. It is impossible that Israel will stop halfway.
