In complete and total awe!....you are just so clever and creative; honestly, I could watch 'P.Allen Smith TV' all day long! Just love everything that you do.... if I were ever to meet you in person, I would be totally awestruck....you're MY "rockstar"!
I LOVE this room... a lot! I love how creative you are. Chicken wire on the cabinet doors! Barn tin roof! The butcher block! It all goes together so wonderfully and creates such a visually interesting room. The pops of color are beautiful as well. And I want that clock and scale. Superb job once again!
I simply love the classic look and simplicity of this kitchen and wish I had one exactly like it. I frequent the "Restore Stores" in my neck of the woods. It's amazing what you can find there at bargain prices. I can't wait to see the rest of the rooms especially the living room. Thanks !!
Beautiful! I love that you gave us the dimensions of the room in addition to all the other details in your description of how this room was put together. I would like to thank Rebecca Robeson for recommending ehowhome, I have subscribed and am enjoying the videos!
In old brownstones in NYC decorative tin ceilings are the norm. I like the simple geometry of what was used. Lacking a kitchen Island I make use of my Mom's old dining table minus its extenders. I always felt it looked add because it was round but you are so right. In a tight space it's perfect. Love the full range of your videos! JeriGale Cohen Fitzgibbon Shane
Love this kitchen! Since you didn't know what the butcher block was exposed to before buying it, how did you clean it to make it acceptable for food preparation?
Who would have thought the barn tin would look that good in a house. I'd use it. I do also like the chicken wire idea not everyone would choose this but it does give that farm feel...both the tin and chicken wire.
I think the barn tin is an amazing look and for the cost it is amazingly affordable! So it is a win win decision when one is remodeling. I am definitely going to use this idea in my next home improvement project! Thanks for sharing your ideas and I love them!
Amazing kitchen, so bright and airy! It's difficult to pick a favorite, so I will choose two, the butcher block (of course) and the barn tin ceiling is awesome. Also the color choices are beautiful and bring so much richness to an otherwise all white room.
I have spent literally hours looking at Cottage design/ideas and I always come back to this GHC. I love almost everything you have done and I am working hard to find ways to save enough so that I can build this Cottage on land my nephew has generously offered to me for my “last move”. He has a large property North of Seattle and I plan to build this home adjacent to two acres on which I will create a garden. I can’t thank you enough for your eco consciousness without sacrificing design esthetic. I am concerned, however about the skilled labor to do the building. Me nephew tells me it is hard to find that kind of help in Washington state. Do you have any thoughts on that? I have two years to work and save for this project. My nephew is researching the building permit cost, which by all indications is significant. He has plenty of trees on his land to cut for lumber, but it will obviously have to be milled; another unknown as a “how to”. Many thanks to you P.Allen Smith for all you do and share with the World!
Love the house. We actually saw it in September. I also want to put a wood counter in my kitchen. I’m curious how the surface was treated and how it has held up with fairly heavy use.
I am curious how you cleaned the butcher block to make it food safe because it seems pretty, well... sorry but dirty. I have one I would like to clean and use.
I love everything in the kitchen except for the drawer pulls. They seem to clunky/chunky to me. The single knob ones are great, but I know you need a double pull on the heavier drawers. Instead of candy in the apothecary jars, I would use lentils or split peas for the green and red beans for the red, etc. I think you are more likely to use these things up and just replenish as you go.
That's a classic kitchen. Kinda reminds me of Aunt Bea's kitchen.lol. You need a table like the one in this video: " Ted Jones two or three cords" . Look it up on youtube. It's just a neat old homely kitchen.
ALLEN YOUR BRILLIANT AND ITS AMAZING HOW THE IDEAS WORKED. LOVE THE CEILING AND THE FABRIC FROM THE LIVINGROOM. ITS ALL ADORABLE. IF ID SAID I WAS'NT BIG ON ANY ONE ELEMENT IT WOULD BE COUNTERS ALL IN BUTCHER BLOCK WOOD. WOULD LOVE JUST SOME MARBLE OR STONE AND EVEN TILE IN A WHITE OR A COLOR WOULD BEEN GREAT !! BUT BUGET IM SURE WAS REASON, SUPERB AND ITS GREAT TO SEE WHAT YOUR UP TO IVE BEEN A HUGE FAN MY WHOLE LIFE. NOW DO A MODERN HOUSE FOR UNDER $150K LOL BE WELL -=) LLOYD
I know it has probably been fifty years since that butcher block had a piece of meat on it, But even so, How do you insure that it is not a breeding spot for disease?
Love, love, love. everything about this kitchen!!!

I love all colors green and all
Allen pleas don't forget to show stair hall that was very exciting.in many ways you have more details in this cottage then you do in the big house
How about beans and lentils for colour.
WHAT I THINK .. That kitchen should be at my house. WHAT I LIKE the bottle top clock.
WHAT I WOULD USE FOR COLOR... Vintage biscuit tins
I am curious how you cleaned the butcher block to make it food safe because it seems pretty, well... sorry but dirty. I have one I would like to clean and use.
Check out P.Allen Smith's fantastic finished kitchen suggestions.

He mentions Tony a lot on his videos who is he?
I don't like where the microwave is placed.
+Sarah Windmueller Ok. How about offering a reason for your dislike, and while you're at it, a suggested alternative?
Barn tin; no spiders!
Deslike Triangle
A large kitchen is tiring to work in for a single person!
Talks like he's going to be living there. How will the real occupants live there?
Gross eating on a butcher block where poor animals were cut up and blood running down it.
