    This is something my 11-year old son possibly may find as a project to challenge. He built a Meccano robot and over time has modified its software and bits of hardware beyond the manufacturers design. Sometimes it goes south and he has to reconfigure back to life.

    Awesome video thanks for going deep into it and explaining the possibilities.

    Pretty amazing piece of kit, Wayne! 😃
    Thanks for the review! I sent your video's link to a friend who has a young son. But I'm definitely going to get one of those some day, even though I don't have kids... Well, at least that I know of. 😬
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

      It's ok for "big kids" to use them as well, so you are ok MC :)

    You could always have an SD card set up with EZ Block and one set up with pure Raspbian and just switch environments pretty easily. I was wondering -- how many pins/IO/etc are left on the hat once you have the thing configured the way it is in the instructions? I'm basically wondering why kind of expansion might be possible. I'm also thinking that maybe a buck converter and a lipo would be the way to go...

    Pretty cool Wayne this would be great for a stem program for schools My wife teaches 8th grade and they are just starting to code . Take Care looking forward to more on this subject .

      I think kids can respond better to physical objects that do something like these devices.... not always, but it's much easier for many to see instantly the results of their coding like this

      Depends if you want to use python of EZblock, if you look at the documentation here docs.sunfounder.com/projects/picar-x/en/latest/python/play_with_python.html you can follow the paths. There's an image of raspbian with EZblock pre installed

    Great video! Can you please tell which 18650 battery did you use? SunFounder recommends 18650 button top, unprotected battery of at least 3000mAh, but it doesn't say anything about the current rating. I found several batteries that fit those description but they have a current rating of 20A or higher. I am concerned as to whether such unprotected battery might damage my RPi due to high current discharge. What sort of current rating do you suggest? Or if it's not too much of a trouble, could you tell me the specifications of your battery? Thanks!

      Something quite beefy - the Pi4 is quite energy hungry. I've got some VTC6's which are 3000mAh 15A. The higher the current rating the better really. This isn't the current that the battery will supply at, but simply the current that the battery CAN supply the current at. How much current will depend on how much the Pi as actually drawing. If you have a battery with a very low amp rating (I've some 18650's by Ultrafire which are awful) the the voltage will sag when the amp draw increases and the Pi will just shut down

    Should the Raspberry pi be on Rasbian os or can is use ROS to run the robot?

    Good morning ! I'm not sure that you still check your messages but my 11 year old son it building this car and struggling with "unzipping" the EZBlock file to an img. File. He's on a PC. Do you have any suggestions? When he "extracts all" it also Duplicates the unzipped file. And are the orange and green lights both suppose to be blinking on top? My son is doing this for a passion project for school.

      So you are talking about the image for the Pi to install? I can't remember having a problem, o i went ahead and downloaded it via the instructions at docs.sunfounder.com/projects/ezblock3/en/latest/quick_guide_3.2/install_ezblock_os.html#install-ezblock-os-latest which take you to ezblock.cc/download/v31.html for the download off Onedrive. This did extract (automatically in my case) to an .img file ready for install. Is this the same route you are using to find the image?

    I've been having trouble getting the camera to work: $ vcgencmd get_camera
    supported=1 detected=1, libcamera interfaces=0
