  • Sprinkler head locations are always static. Changes in landscaping can require new sprinkler head locations. The task is simple. All that is needed are a few parts and tools.

    To move the sprinkler head to a new location, it all begins with digging up the sprinkler head followed by slowly exposing the rubber irrigation hose that leads to the bottom of the sprinkler.
    After you can see about 1 foot of hose, the hose needs to be cleaned off and carefully cut. Adding a new length of 1/2 inch irrigation hose and an elbow to the sprinkler head with enough length to reach the new location is all you need. Connect the new irrigation hose to the old hose with a connecting barb and you are ready to back fill the trench.

    Thanks for the clear and detailed instructions. I've been calling the sprinkler company to take care of these things but the price keeps going up; now I can do this on my own!

    Can't tell from the video - is that a rotor with a 3/4" female pipe thread connection at the bottom or 1/2"? And, is that hose coming off the pvc 1/2" or 3/4"?

      The bigger rotors have 3/4 inch threaded to half inch flexible pipe.

    What if I need to shorten the line, not extend it? Do I just cut the existing line and reattach the sprinkler?

      Hey Ashley,
      The barb is REALLY hard to remove from the line. But yes. You could cut line and replace the barb… or you could cut the line in the middle remove line and rejoin with a plastic coupling piece. Not too complicated - go for it!

    how far of a line can you run like that? I'm needing to go 4 to 5 feet instead of a foot or so.

      Hey Suzanne,
      No problem at all. All you need is the right length of connecting hose.
      Thx for watching!

    No need to use a hose clamp on the barbed fitting?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  2 года назад

      Hey Michael,
      Nope. It will not come off w/o cutting it off. Plus there is no pressure in the line when that zone isn’t on. When it is on, the water pressure is relived by the sprinkler head popping up.
      No worries about the connection either way.
      Thx for watching!

    If I want to take out one head, what to do?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  2 года назад

      Hey Angela,
      You can often just turn the head off. If you need it elsewhere, you can dig up the sprinkler head, cut the tube the goes to the bottom of the sprinkler head and plug the tube.
      Irrigation supply places have plugs. Amazon too but you’ll have to measure accurately the tube opening. It take a little piece of tube to home store and see what kind of plug you can find. Once you put the plug in, you’ll likely need a hose clamp to squeeze down on the tube and the plug inside.
      Hope that helps,
      Thx for watching!
