- Herewith, the highly anticipated debut season of The Taste Master SA, hosted by Harmony Katulondi has been launched!
In episode one viewers can look forward to meeting the show's resident judges, celebrity chef and author Zola Nene and award-winning executive chef at The Restaurant at Waterkloof Gregory Czarnecki. As well as the 8 hottest South African culinary professionals who will be put straight to the test with a gruelling task of creating the most instagramable dish this week.
Catch the premiere on SABC3 at 7:30PM on Tuesday, 12 November 2019 and watch the contestants battle it out as they aim to make it past the first round, in the hopes of becoming the resident chef on SABC's popular variety show, Afternoon Express.

This was stupid IMO. It's a cooking challenge contest. It's called TASTE Master, not Insta master. I also think the way they revealed it was kind of cruel. I don't know, I didn't like this episode at all.
I hope the next episode is more about food and tasting. This was a good one but the show is called Taste Master.
Shocking who was in the bottom, who won, and mostly that someone could be eliminated from a cooking show without ever having their food tasted - the winner had wax paper stuck to her crumbling pavlova
That host doesn't seem quite comfortable in his role.---I'm watching backwards from previous seasons, & this first test is, in my opinion, unfortunate.
Seems strange to have a cook show, where a chef goes home without having their food tasted. Mmmm….

No , the pancakes stood out the most. The judge picked up it with her stomach not the eyes!
I am glad in season 2 the judges tasted the dishes. Professional food artists frequently use non-edible items (ex. glue) to make entrees look delicious.

I prefer the video editing of last season Taste Master SA. This one seems to use so much time to just interview the participant, and to do things other than cooking. Last season was more chop chop chop, all about cooking, done!

Not sure what season this is..bit was very disappointed to see that they didnt taste the food..that guy wheo left coupd have had the best dish. What a shame

Harmony you need to find your twin in America. His name is Robert Townsend, he is a very famous movie Director. I initially thought that you were him when this video came up. He lives in either Los Angeles or Atlanta, GA.
Alex’s flapjacks were way more vivid and bright. Guess they’re going for ‘feminism’, ‘diversity’ and ‘story’ here over which photo is objectively more captivating. Oh well.
I totally agree. His presentation was much cleaner and more colorful…visually pleasing to the eye. The Pavlova was a hot mess. I’ve noticed in other episodes that Zole (?), the judge, is very full of herself and her opinions. They called in a professional food blogger and then disregarded her opinion. Too bad…..
@@cynthiacollett6233 exactly, totally agree with you. what’s the point of the challenge being not about the taste food, but rather about capturing an instagrammable moment, inviting an expert over as a judge for her opinion, only to disregard it because the winner of the challenge is one of the front runners who have won a few challenges, and presumably is more ‘white’, and give the win to someone who is female, supposedly is ‘ethnically diverse’ and therefore has more story to appeal to political correctness? That’s just plain dumb.
Zola may be a judge because she probably has culinary expertise but she sure as hell can’t pass as a judge with her poor taste in what counts as an aesthetically pleasing photo. Her culinary specialisation and plating style seems to be more towards soul food, which is more about it being homemade and comforting, and by extension it would be no wonder why she preferred the pavlova photo. But objectively speaking, one pathetic rustic pavlova wouldnt count as instagrammable. A plethora of desserts shot in a photo using the rustic style might work, but not one pavlova. Trending food photos on Instagram seem more to be focused on visual appeal, strong colour contrasts, refined plating styles. And Alex’s photo checked most, if not all of the boxes. It’s just sad that at first 2 out of the 3 judges preferred Alex’s photo, but in the end Gregory decided to go with Zola because she supposedly is the face of the show 🙄
The reveal of the winner was so horrible. She deserved more of a win then just a reveal, I didn't understand who won and who lost. BTW, the Indian cake was horrible.

Not used to hearing this particular accent, but I like how this channel doesn't include subtitles. I've seen a lot of American shows that would add subtitles when there were guests with heavy accents.
July 17 2023 Maryland, USA: Love the color of the flapjacks and the other makes from him. I agree they should have tasted. I did love the look of the bavlona. The other dishes looked delish also. The pizza I would have loved. Alex good job also.
I think food colored food looks fake and gross. I don't know why people like food colored things that shouldn't be.
