I literally had the exact thing happen to me that happened to mogwai, but it was only a NG alchemy viper, not a muzzle, thank God. He only had a werewolf on the board and I played one to try and take him out and nothing happened. I thought it was yet another bug from the patch. I was pissed. I realized shortly after haha.....SHAME....never again.
I think the second part of the avallach bit (where he got resurrected) had the right idea, it showed that it spawns endlessly but cuts away into a new clip before it drags too much.
