This absolutely made me cry. I have 3 girls and my oldest will be 9 in a week, and I'm literally terrified because HOW IN THE HECK DID SHE GROW UP SO FAST?? I would have done the same thing, cried behind my sunglasses and feigned excitement. You're a good mom, Kim!
Since you only have Penn Charles have a day or three just for him. Do things that Lola wouldn't enjoy. In sure he'd love to have all you both to himself. Let him pick and then film it for us!
You guys made me cry a little bit, but I think it is so awesome that Lola is excited to go to camp, and that you are supporting her! I'm sure you will have a great time with Penn Charles, and 2 weeks will fly by before you know it! :)
Camp will promote her sense of independence and responsibility, things she will need as she grows up. Our son (only child) is 2 years away from leaving home for college and his mom and I pray that we have been and are doing the right things for him to be happy and successful as he prepares for life as an adult. You guys are doing awesome. PS - we were stuck in LaGuardia the same night as you guys, my wife came over and said hello. Dad Libs...love it.
Penn Charles was sitting there in the background all good & quiet while they were filming. Then at the end when the parents were talking at lice, all I heard was "lice lice bebeh." Lol😂😂 Too funny..
my oldest went to camp for two weeks last year. I was so bummed, I couldn't wait for him to come home. I was so worried he would be home sick and not want to sleep in the cabin because it was just plywood with screens and bunk beds. He had so much fun! I was so happy to see him when we picked him up. I felt like he was older after camp. I may be odd but it was tough to have him be gone that long. good luck, she's having a blast. enjoy your time with your son one on one.
Gosh...I remember those days only my daughter went to day camp, I felt so alone the first few days, I couldn't handle sleep away camp, I know it's great for them but I'd worry way too much, I am just like Kim smile on the outside crying inside. I love the end..lice lice baby
My daughter is a counselor at the camp Lola attended. I had to say goodbye to her for 11 WEEKS. She's 20 years old. Take my word for it....it doesn't get any easier. But I recall from last year - she said Lola is an absolute sweetheart!
I hope Lola has the best time ever!! Even though it hard to deal with them being away its also good for them. errr so i been told. haha. i wish you luck. sounds like it's time to spoil Lil Penn and give him alot of fun days. your all in my prayers. Much love Holderness family!
I think Lola is so awesome! I was too chicken as a child to go away to camp. I'm currently pregnant with my second child and watching your videos with Lola makes me really want this baby to be a girl! Lola makes having a daughter seem wonderful :)
I had nearly the same experience. I took our 7 year old child to her first week long camp this past summer. I was super positive the whole time, even when we got there. I took her to make up her bed and she was told to get on her bathing suit for her swim test. She told me that I needed to go and register her because I didn't need to go with her to her test. A short time later, she came to me and said she passed her swim test - duh!!! She wanted to know if I had completed registration, DUHHHHH!!!! So, she said- "it's time for you to go". I explained that I had at least 45 minutes left before I needed to leave - she patted me on the hand and said, "you are going to be okay." I asked if she needed me to stay until she made a friend and she pointed towards the parking area and said, "it's time for you to go"....I felt like I needed to hide and stalk her but thought it would be horrible if I got caught, so reluctantly I walked off to my car and cried all the way home.
I felt the same way it's both wonderful and hard watching them grow up. Just on Monday I watched her leave to go to Charolette to a concert which is 4 hrs away plus she was staying overnight. You just have to know you've taught them well.
Best gift you can give your kiddo - independence. Use your left arm to reach around & give yourself a pat on the back. Then use your right hand to write your daughter a letter to tell her how proud you are of her. You're great parents! (Or, at least, I hope so - we did same w/both kids for years - they turned out pretty good.)
My twin daughters went for a week last summer for the first time at age 6. They were very excited and had a great time. When we got them set up in their cabin, they said, "Dad. When are you leaving?". It wasn't said in fear. They have each other to rely on.
My daughters 1st year sleep over week camp. my daughter was the same way, yes mommy I'll be fine! it does feel like my left arm is gone! can't wait for friday!!
My daughter goes to WA from AZ every summer for 2 months. It kills me every summer. She is 12 and has been doing this since she was 4. I get through by focusing on my other child and trying to keep busy.
So I have 5 kids and my 3 youngest are at camp this week together. It's the first time for my youngest (he is 9) to be away from home. I'm dying. You are not alone. I thought I was the only crazy mom feeling this way. Saturday cannot come quick enough. (My two teen daughters are having the time of their lives without the 3 youngest here....)
Parents should give their kids roots and wings. It's all part of the growing process. Doesn't mean it isn't hard. Enjoy the one on one time with Penn Charles. Maybe there's a commissary or mini store there where kids can buy incidentals. I'm sure other kids have forgotten their hair brush. Maybe they sell some there. What a great experience for her!!!!
This year will be hard. Next year, you'll look forward to camp because it will be a small taste of freedom. It'll be even better if you can find a camp for Penn Charles. Then, in two weeks, you'll get your children back. It's the best of both worlds. No words of wisdom for the lice. Blessed to say, we never had to deal with it!
My kids are 10 and 11 and this will be their first sleep away camp experience this summer, too. I planned for them to both be away at the same time. Good? Not sure. I feel the same as you. Happy for them and not sure how I should feel.
Is it weird I'm crying with you? I can't get my 12 yr old to go to sleep away camp. Every year I ask and every year she says next year.....but inside I'm secretly happy she won't leave me :) The 8 yr old, a different story though. Enjoy your parent of one time!
Y'all need to use dōTERRA essential oils (Melaleuca- fancy word for Tea Tree) and make a spray for her hair next year! Lice hate it. I'm from Spartanburg, but live in Vancouver, BC. Love y'alls videos
I have never spent more than a weekend away from my kids, and my daughter is 11! I am a single mom, and a guy I was seeing asked me to go away for 4 days. I backed out, because the thought of not being with my kids sent me into a panic attack! Not sure of it's because I love them so much, or because I'm a control freak! 🤔 lol.
Remember the song....."Let it go" You just have to let it go. She is growing up, part of life. If she comes back with lice, accept it, and her and treat it with a smile. Don't make a simple situation complicated for her. She'll be fine. We've all been there.
That's where you keep her in the garage, check her hair and all clothes and items get washed immediately. I understand your feelings though. My daughter is only 4, but already she is so independent that I find it hard to let go of some things I use to do for her. It's exciting to watch them grow up, but I miss my baby girl.
No when she get's home meet her at the garage with garbage bags to toss everything into the washing machine on max temp for at least 2 washes after bio hazard gear collects her stuff from the shower and applies... at least a bottle or TWO of lice shampoo as pre entry measures before hugs. It would be the perfect way to prank her/ prevent the spread of the lice if she has any!🤔😉😏👨👩👧👦
I don't know if I'll be able to go to the camps I want to go to this summer I really just wanted to go to the local college fir the day camp because I wanted to learn more about video production and creative writing .-.
I went to camp over night camp for 7 weeks and in 5 weeks the parent visit and they have awesome food and they can be any friends it's awesome the camp I went to is camp north wood and its in new year state
My 11 year old went to 2 camps. Girl Scout camp, they checked her head for lice before letting her stay. She was clear. She came home for 2 days, and then went to a church camp. I got the dreaded call on Tuesday to pick her up. She had lice. Here she got it from a tentmate there. I was so mad.
My daughter is headed out for a week of camp soon, fist time! This did not help me deal at all. And she has lice right now.. sorry. Can't wait for her to get away from the school!

You guys made me cry a little bit, but I think it is so awesome that Lola is excited to go to camp, and that you are supporting her! I'm sure you will have a great time with Penn Charles, and 2 weeks will fly by before you know it! :)
This made me cry and I am not even a parent! She looks SO grown up in this video. You guys are the best and I hope she had a BLAST!

Mail her a brush and some tea tree oil (lice repellent)!!!
I agree with above!! Send her some Tea Tree shampoo and throw some glitter in it so she'll think it's cool!!! 😂
My daughter is a counselor at the camp Lola attended. I had to say goodbye to her for 11 WEEKS. She's 20 years old. Take my word for it....it doesn't get any easier. But I recall from last year - she said Lola is an absolute sweetheart!
Linda Garcia what cabin was your daughter in? My daughter goes there to.
Hang in there! I'm sure she will cherish the memories she makes at camp, for a lifetime!
good to see you guys enjoying the outdoors , I am very happy for you guys .
I went to seafarer and I was in cabin 6 too! But I went session 2. I saw Lola's signature on the wall!

I hope Lola has the best time ever!! Even though it hard to deal with them being away its also good for them. errr so i been told. haha. i wish you luck. sounds like it's time to spoil Lil Penn and give him alot of fun days. your all in my prayers. Much love Holderness family!
The best part was Penn Charles yelling "Lice Lice Baby"
I think Lola is so awesome! I was too chicken as a child to go away to camp. I'm currently pregnant with my second child and watching your videos with Lola makes me really want this baby to be a girl! Lola makes having a daughter seem wonderful :)
Have fun Lola
My oldest loves to go to overnight camp. I still cry when I drop her off.

My parents always wanted me to go to camp but me and my brothers didn't!
2 weeks?! I couldn't do it. I'm proud of both you and lola. It's going to be a great experience.

Your kids are growing fast.

Is that hate??
Aw how sad. I remember going to summer camp. This must have been what my mom felt like. She'll be home before you know it
Lola will be back
That's where you keep her in the garage, check her hair and all clothes and items get washed immediately.

How close is the camp?
My 11 year old went to 2 camps. Girl Scout camp, they checked her head for lice before letting her stay. She was clear. She came home for 2 days, and then went to a church camp. I got the dreaded call on Tuesday to pick her up. She had lice. Here she got it from a tentmate there. I was so mad.

Because I am 11 and I can only do a week for camp
What is the longest and shortest camp she could do? I thought a camp was just one time period without a choice...
Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you? I am stealing that
My daughter is headed out for a week of camp soon, fist time! This did not help me deal at all. And she has lice right now.. sorry. Can't wait for her to get away from the school!
