You notice in every porn scenario, Angel is always depicted as the victim of a power dynamic. The interrogation, the burglary. It's one thing to be a power bottom, it's another thing to being exploited so brazenly. Valentino is thoroughly abusing Angel, both directly and indirectly.
sure, but domination does not designate as abuse, my ex was a very bratty sub and she LOVED being "put in her place", no if anything is a red flag, it's Valentino's a fucking asshole to the point that Angel is doing anything and ANYONE to forget about him.
Whoever wrote the line “if I end up broken, then I won’t be his favorite toy anymore” either needs a raise or therapy (quite possibly both). That line destroyed me.
Honestly, the thing that gets me in this episode is how scared Angel was the INSTANT he saw Charlie. He didn't want her exposed to that world or to see what he deals with. She is the princess of hell and all he cared about was protecting her. Angel is a brother and as far as we know, very protective to his sister. We see so much in him in these few seconds and it's amazing.
It's also tragic to know that the power scaling is way off. People assume Charlie is weak because she is so gentle. She could mop the floor with Valentino. So Angel was only saving her from not being true to herself, when he probably thought she was in actual danger and was possibly moments from being free.
@@Illiadofmalorne Huh? Tragic the power scaling if off- What? I said Charlie is the princess of hell. And Angel still wanted to protect her. That just how much he cares, not how weak Charlie is
Notice how Angel Dust said, "just don't hurt *her."* He's more worried about what Val will do Charlie, even while he's getting beat up. Seriously, Angel deserves so much better than this. The way Valentino treats him and what Angel said about trying to get broken enough that Val will let him go, it's really painful to watch. I'm glad he and Husk have found common ground and can support eachother. And I love the message in "Loser, Baby." It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can look to for support. That's as good a start as any.
Charlie is literally the Number 3 in Hells stomping list, only her mother and father being above her, and she is so pure and doesn't like to assert her (legal) dominance, she really does display both Angel sides of her Parents.
@@the_dropbear4392 Yes of course, some Kings or even Princes of Hell do seem pretty powerful or even overpowered, but that may be because we also haven't seen the big rulers of Hell go full tilt.
@@the_dropbear4392 vivziepop has said Charlie is number 3 in terms of pure power as well. Canonically, she’s basically a reality warper. Anytime she’s singing and you see stuff like puppies and beautiful landscapes spawning out of thin air behind her? Everyone else sees that too; it’s not her head space, she’s unintentionally warping the fabric of hell and making them real. The thing with Charlie is that her temperament is such that she never shows off her power or uses them maliciously. She’s is so innocent and naive that she probably isn’t even aware of how strong she is. This is why Vox was freaking out about her proximity to Alistor and making sure they never made a deal. If they made a deal, Alistor would basically be able to upend the status quo again in a big way, as he did the last time he made a deal with an overlord. Power in hell is strongly correlated with social position. Alistor is stronger than Angel Dust, but weaker than Stolas. Stolas is weaker than lords like Azmodeus. And beings like Azmodeus are weaker than beings like Charlie and Lucifer.
@ServantofErra Vivzy was specifically talking about political hierarchy not power. Charlie is powerful but we don't know how much. In the pilot during her song on the news she was using a green screen, we see this at the end of the song. Bit everyone has been reality warping with their songs.
When they are bound with ropes 27:57 , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners". Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.
I saw it as how much control and power they have over the people they own. Its probably gonna be a helluva lot easier for Angel to break free than Husk.
i really love how this episode managed to transform husk, who so far really has been more of a background presence, both in this show and the pilot, into honestly one of my favourite characters. i really love the "old guy who's seen it all" stick he has going on, yet that doesn't mean that he magically has all the answer all the times and sometimes all you can do is accept that you have a problem and take solace in the knowledge that there are others who know what you are going through and are there for you.
I feel like Husk has already worked through most of his problems and reformed himself on his own. He hit rock bottom and sold his soul to Alastor, figure that was a wake-up call that he can't keep drowning his sorrows in booze and cards. He still drinks and gambles, but not to the point of self-destructing. Honestly, Husk would have the easiest time of everyone at the hotel redeeming himself if he wanted to, he's just content being in Hell so long as Alastor mostly leaves him alone.
This was a distressingly honest portrayal of what abuse can look like. Poison is a bop but its the mask that people put up to deal with abusive situations, and Loser Baby is a bop and is the healing vibe we ALL need sometimes, but especially people who have been through some shit. Edit: WAIT I just figured out why this episode is so good even given the distressing dark parts. It's because it didn't stop there. It gave us a very honest portrayal of abuse but it also gave us an honest portrayal of what actually helps. People accepting you for who you really are and helping you learn to accept yourself too.
This entire episode is pain and trauma personified. Both Charlie and Angel Dust are trying to protect the other and it just destroyed me that Angel would rather Valentino hurt him to keep Charlie safe.
The thing that is particularly awful is, Charlie probably was only in danger because she's so nice. Valentino may be an Overlord, but he's still a sinner-a dead human-while Charlie is the Princess of Hell. The reason Valentino doesn't respect her is she's kind and has never really used her power either magically or politically. Meanwhile, if we remember the pilot, Angel said he doesn't follow politics. So he doesn't know that Charlie has the clout to save him. Actually, Alastor might have done it too, if asked, because making Valentino lose his cool makes the Vs look bad.
@@windwalker5765 I agree except that maybe Valentino may have been in for a shock if Charlie had her back to the wall. Something tells me that when push comes to shove, Charlie may just go John Wick on these fools. I wouldn't underestimate her.
@@johnbowersox738 Charlie is the offspring of an Angel and a Demon - a being that most people call a Nephalem (though through my own research, that term is mostly used to define a union between an Angel and a Human, not a demon... but it's been used for both so.... do with that information what you will.) A Nephalem is usually depicted as something far more powerful than your average demon or angel - so basically the only person in hell that should be more powerful than Charlie is Lucifer himself. However, violence isn't in Charlie's nature. She doesn't use the power that comes with her status and she doesn't like fighting so nobody knows just how powerful she really is. I'm willing to bet that she could rip Valentino to shreds though if she absolutely had to.
The fact that Husk used to be an Overlord adds a lot of interesting perspective to this interaction. To fall that far must have felt like a uniquely humiliating and terrible experience at first. Sure there were plenty of others who lost the soul to an overlord, but how many of them were once overlords themselves. Maybe he tried to put up an act like Angel did at first. Pretend he was still a bigshot as a coping mechanism. But over time Husk must've realized that he wasn't really all that different from any other demon who traded away their soul. And I guess that thought gave him comfort.
and then you realize why he has a deal with Alister "i sold my soul to save my power" he still has the power a minor overlord wields hes just not free to do what he used to with it
Episode 4 really hits the feels and there is a detail I really loved from rewatch. Besides all the obvious differences between Valentino and Husk, during Poison Valentino dancing is very forceful and Angel keeps pulling away just to be dragged back while Husk he actually guides Angel into dancing and they up dancing in sync with each other.
Its like "I trust you that you'll catch onto the dance so I'll just guide you a little". Trust in each other is important for any type of relationship. Friendship or something more.
@@rosenrot234”or something more” NOPE nope not hearing the shippers out here: it’s a by the book ‘young apprentice looks up to older wiser person’ do not make it about some falling in love bullsh*t Husk made it so crystal clear he’s not anywhere near interested romantically in Angel & this isn’t your typical watt pad story where they “act all tsundere” just to go 180 & suddenly be into them. It’s a well-written show by professional writers so please just let the nice platonic relationship stay platonic for the love of Christ. Also apologies if this comes off as insensitive, I’m not writing to anyone in particular just a personal-rant I’m very anti-ship.
The whole scene with "Loser Baby" reminds me of that one story where someone in a psych ward was on the verge of breaking down with one of the nurses asking if he was "like, legit sad" which flabbergastered him so much that he legit stopped having a breakdown.
@@Ricardo_Rick Someone had a theory that Husk might have specifically gambled his soul against Alastor because, although being enslaved sucks, it was safer than keeping it and always being tempted to gamble. Which makes sense- all things considered it seems like Alastor at least treats him politely, which is much better than how Angel is treated.
@@JayTDemi i'm not sure, Husk still gambles and he said that was a mistake, he probably lost all but one soul, his own, so he bet all in against Alastor, but he lost
Now this is how you develop a character. I liked Husk for his attitude but this episode gave him such depth that I felt bad for thinking he wasn't THAT interesting of a character (like Fizz in Helluva Boss).
So true. Speaking of Fizz, watching this series after watching Fizz quit his job has me comparing Fizz to Angel Dust. They both had to deal with creepy fans, but Mammon’s abuse of Fizz seemed more like neglect of Fizz’s mental health (indirect damage since it was the creepy fans who actually did the sexual harassment) in favor of money than sexual, which is what Val did to Angel Dust
As soon as you said "do you know how much he wants to be saved" it hit me like a truck and I sobbed. I'm not happy until Angel's free though - cause the abuse isn't over ..
When I first saw this episode I thought that it's going to hit Alicia like a boat. Not a small boat either, like the love child of the titanic and the costa concordia while lingering eye contact was made with the Valdeeze.
This, the heaven episode, and the finale are always the episodes I look forward to seeing the reactions for the most. This one is so raw, heaven is such a bop with a certain song, and the finale well they sure left us wanting more
I love how Alicia is so very new to the fandom (reacted to the pilot only a month ago) and she's just as protective and cares about the characters like she's been dowsed in the lore and backstory for years. Having a real perspective of social behavior and therapy on these situations and characters is such a refreshing take. I dont know if it was noticed but Angel Dust doesn't just freak because Charlie came to the porn studio. He's terrified about Val noticing and being around her. Then when the fire happens (I'm still cringing so hard at that) Angel's eyes are completely on Val and how he reacts. He knows all the troubles Charlie is unintentionally causing is gonna come back double on him. There has to be a way to void that soul contract. It's the only way Angel can be free. I dont think it can be as simple as Charlie snapping her fingers. Honestly, my theory is its gonna be like a Faustian Bargin kinda schtick.
A good friend of mine, a guy, got roofied by couple of girls, who then tried to get him to go with them. Lucky our friends got him out of there, but that was a waking up moment that these things go both ways.
I've had a similar experience before. I was drugged a few years back when I was at a bar with 2 of my friends and 2 of their friends. Idk what it was the people who drugged me slipped in my drink but I started feeling insanely dizzy as well as feeling my body slowly failing, while still fully having my wits about me. I barely had any drinks at that point so I knew something was wrong cuz I kept throwing up in the bathroom and I even started worrying other people in the bar. I was so lucky I had my friends around me because I was terrified of what could've happened. My friend came to check on me and asked me if I was okay to which I responded "no fucking call an ambulance! Get me outta here!" To which she did. We left and I ended up lying outside on the wet pavement waiting for the ambulance while my friend's stood around me to protect me. One point my friend tried to lay my head on her lap but the second my head got elevation the dizziness got worse so I told "no please don't! I know you're trying to help but the spinning just gets worse!" To which she stopped. As the ambulance arrived I was completely out at that point. My body completely shut down but I could still hear the interaction between my friends and the paramedics. 1 of my friends, friend even lied directly to the paramedics saying "listen that fucking guy can chuck an entire bottle of tequila and be fine! Something's clearly fucking wrong!!" Ofc that wasn't true but she clearly was very worried about me so I really appreciated the fact that she did that for my sake. The paramedics tried to get in contact with me but ofc I couldn't do anything but let out some mumbled words. The paramedic clearly must've given me a shot of morphine because I felt a hard sting in my chest, and immediately jolted up with a gasp, like I had been drowning and just got up for air. They checked up on me in the ambulance and then called my dad to let him know the situation. I had previously called him as this was all happening and he didn't believe me cuz he thought I just couldn't handle the alcohol. Yeah let's just say he got a different attitude when the person on the other end of my phone wasn't me but a paramedic. Afterwards I had the option of either going to the hospital or go home by taxi. I told them "I just wanna get out of here I don't care where just get me out of here!" I was put in a taxi, I told the driver the address to my dad and promptly passed out. Waking up back at my dad's place before he helped me inside and to my bedroom. Where I passed out again. Moral of the story? Don't go drinking alone.
I loved that moment where Charlie started going at Val and her other form popped up. There's gotta be an episode sometime where Charlie just totally loses it and snaps and we get to see her full power. I love _snapped_ episodes. I hope she tears Val a new one. A new few. Can't wait for all the character developments!
And we got just that on the finale, and WOW her demon form nailed it A reminder to everyone that even though she's such a cinnamon roll, she's also the *princess of hell*
Whenever you depict trauma and/or SA in media you have a duty of care. It's the same reason why you cannot just casually portray "game end" in media: you have to make sure the audience can feel it to make it authentic but you also need to soothe the emotional bruise that you just gave them. This episode did a great job of that! Showing both the trauma, the fallout, grasping with it and a set into the right direction with a feel good song to recover from the emotional beating we took. It's a tough topic but it deserves to not be shied away from, so I respect Vivzie and the entire team for going there!
I feel like this helped Charlie get a better grasp on the realities of Hell. She grew up sheltered and protected, which has made her very naive. She thinks that the angel exterminations are the worst things that could happen to her people, but now she's seen just how miserable their lives really are. Many of them, like Angel, don't have a choice but to sin because they are enslaved to Overlords.
i personally think charlie already knew all that and that’s why she sympathizes with her people especially the non hellborns. i think she just gets too enthusiastic about helping ppl which causes her to act without thinking most of the time cause even when angel was on the phone with val she could tell sum was off and be with someone like vaggie im sure she understands that complexities of the lives of demons in hell
@@parappa_is_my_rapper6557 But she kept assuming that redeeming demons would be easy. She kept asking why this was so hard. For some reason we have yet to discover, Charlie is untainted by sin, thus she can't truly relate to the actual Sinners residing in Hell. Why they fight all the time. Why they engage in degenerate depravity. Why they are so cruel to others. Why their afterlives feel so completely hopeless after wasting their human lives and getting sentenced to Hell.
@@Aqua311 well i took it more as her not understanding why there were no demons who were interested IN redemption in the first place not as her assuming the redemption process itself would be easy i do think she is naive this is a very new project and both her and vaggie are not only on a 6 month time crunch but also not sure how to exactly to go about it yet. and the creators already said that she’s not blind to the things that happen in hell and it’s not like she isn’t influence by it which is why they also noted that she still curses like everyone else im not saying she knows what she’s doin and that’s she’s going about helping people in the right way but i do think that even though her optimism makes it easier for her see the bright side in every situation she isn’t completely oblivious about the other people having harder lives than her in certain ways and she knowing when to step back and like she did when she understood angels immediate situation and how she slowed down and avoided making a deal with the radio demon i truly just think her real problem lies in getting to obsessed with helping ppl to avoid feeling like she’s failing at it like husk said to the point where she simply becomes too much or does too much. she’s seems so emotionally mature to me when shes not in her own head and simply calms down
Apparently in season 2 the V overlords will be more focused on antagonists Hinting that season 2 will be about both dealing with heaven But also the ones who actively help make hell terrible for millions (the overlords).
10:32 was the worst part for me when watching. The entire studio is on fire, Charlie is messing up a lot, everything is chaos and Angel is terrified, not of any of that, but completely and utterly terrified of only Valentino. And not just for his own sake because of the repercussions, but he’s terrified that he’ll harm Charlie. That he’s so fucking traumatised by how dangerous Val is that he’s selflessly and desperately horrified that Val will be the impulsive person he is and attack Charlie. That he’ll stomach anything because he’s at Val’s mercy but doesn’t want the same for her. Yeah, lot of bad stuff in this episode. But that one hurt for me. Hurt more later when he literally begged Valentino to not hurt her. This is hell ffs, they don’t have to be empathetic but it’s obvious how much Charlie means to him and…. I’m definitely rambling on. Yeah I think you get the idea 😅. I will say though. I’ve been critical of Charlie’s character in a few moments. But I definitely appreciate and am impressed with all her behaviour after they came out Angel’s dressing room, not only cause she tries to step up for angel (also I swear to god, we’re never gonna see this girl fight 🤣, at this point it’s all Bark no bite) but also that she recognises that angel wasn’t being rude to her, but that she’d majorly fucked up in causing him worse harm off Valentino and she for the rest of the episode was nothing but sorry, holding no Ill intent and understanding why he did what he did.
He knew that the correct answer is “Yes, Valentino”, but he risked getting wolloped mire to plead for Charlie’s safety. If that isn’t worth shooting straight up into heaven, then idk what is.
Yeah it also shows just how traumatised he is when it comes to Val as well, like if he thought about it logically Val can't actually do anything to Charlie not only is he weaker than her but her mother or father would absolutely destroy him even if he succeeded. Even Val knows that hence why despite his terrible temper and impulse control he forces himself to remain at least what he considers polite to her the whole time regardless of how much she clearly enrages him. In Angels head Val is so scary that nothing could possibly be safe from him.
@@gabrielegenota1480He has proven throught the entire first season that he has everything needed to go into heaven However, it seems like as long as he's chained by valentino, he won't be able to ascend to heaven. So maybe it's time that, in season 2, he finally confronts valentino for good, and finds a way to claim back his soul and thus unclip his wings.
Can I just say that I always anticipate your reactions to Hazbin Hotel? Whenever the show tackles serious topics (i.e. Trauma, Abuse), you explain it so perfectly. ^__^
The thing I love about this episode is how in all the episodes after this one Angel stops bragging about his work because he finally feels safe enough with everyone at the hotel to be honest about how miserable working for Val makes him.
“Watch this Chat, you can actually pinpoint the second Her heart rips in half….aaaaand Now!” 12:25 (unpause 3 times in a row) Easily the most (intentionally) frustrating thing about Charlie is she is canonically the 2nd most powerful being in ALL of hell only being below her father Lucifer. If she ever goes all out her power dwarfs that of alastor and even stolas. But because of her morals and personality she holds back to the point where a common sinner like Katie killjoy can give her trouble which honestly is necessary cause I mean she has the power to end all conflicts if she decides to throw hands with her powers and it would go against everything she stands for seeing violence as the absolute last resort she’d begrudgingly use if it’s all that’s left.
Yeah but that requires Charlie to be FULLY certain of herself to exert her power over others. She’s not - and that’s good, because believing you’re hot shit makes it difficult to learn and grow. Charlie doesn’t believe herself any better than her peers - she cannot exert herself over who she believes are equals. That’s what I’m getting from her, at least
@@gabrielegenota1480exactly, like I said she is willing to do violence but she has to believe she exhausted every possible action and even then she doesn’t want to hurt anyone so she’ll make sure she doesn’t go all out with her demonic powers she inherited from her father. Like you’d have to do something unforgivable even to her standards and that’s quiet a feat for someone who actively believes anyone can be redeemed.
18:00 Alicia breaking down Angel’s outburst and his issues was actually spot-on and deep. Super impressive. I hope to Christ she’s not speaking from experience.
You're description of Angel's situation, with him believing all he is worth is what others can use and then the part where you were talking about having to be a consistent way or else he felt he wouldn't be an asset, was exactly how I have felt my entire life until this year. Right when HH released I had started dating this amazing man, I'm not going into details, but for the 1st time ever someone was valuing me for being me, it made me seriously nervous because he didn't value all the things I thought I had to give. When we were watching this episode I just broke down and when I tried to apologize for getting all emotional and "being an annoyance", he just held my hand and cuddled me and told me that nothing I could do would be an annoyance and then we talked about my past and all my fears that I wouldn't be able to make him happy. It was the beginning of something that has only gotten better. And even if I don't spend forever with him, I learned so much thanks to having someone accept me just like Husk did for Angel
Husk having been an Overlord and ending up gambling, losing his power to Alastor implies a lot. (It also makes sense for Husk to be void of his power, because, you know husk). Questions rise about just how powerful Alastor could be if power could be gained via bets. Maybe the contract Angel Dust made with Valentino has some relevance, and this episode shows the personal Hell Angel Dust goes through.
i have a feeling that Alistor is like Cthulhu in Hell, he's beyond that of the princes of Hell, but he keeps himself on the down low, hence why he's shacking up at the Hotel.
@@UltimateGamerCC Vivzie already confirmed that Stolas has more power than Alastor, and that Lucifer is the most powerful being in Hell. @@UltimateGamerCC As soon as Zestial makes his appearance and greets Alastor, you can see Alastor's eyes widen, and he immediately tells the Egg Boiz to keep their mouths shut

24:04 once again, I relate to this. Because I’m heavily autistic, I find myself hiding, who I truly am for other people because I think a lot of people think I’m weird otherwise. It’s been a lot for me honestly. My true personality whiles fun, has produced a massive amount of bullying, and even threats in my life. I feel like if I act like my true self, I’ll never be loved. It’s still something I have to deal with.
i have autism too and i feel you bro, i get constantly bullied because how i act and how i think, its hard for us to show our true selves because we are afraid of getting mistreated because how we are
This is where Charlie being nice is a major downside. I love that about her...but she appears like a harmless doormat not ONLY to the denizens of hell...but even to her friends where Angel wouldnt even think to ask her for help. Where Valentino has him thinking that SHE'S the one who needs to be protected.
Charlie being too nice and a doormat is PRECISELY why she doesn't get any respect from Hell's denizens. They only obey and respect Lucifer out of fear, because he was able to establish how powerful he was. Nevermind that Lucifer is on the absolutely top of Hell's hierarchy and powerscale. Ironically, he's apparently lighthearted and goofy, but it seems that Lucifer does at least know when he needs to exert his dominance
Yeah, by the known hierarchy, Charlie should be more powerful than anyone we've seen yet, except for Mammon, Asmodeus, and Beelzebub. Certainly no former mortal should be even close, and all the overlords are dead humans.
@@Pridam Lucifer is _one of_ the Seven Deadly Sins. Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, Mammon, Asmodeus, Leviathan, Belphegor. Each ruler of a ring, and Lucifer rules all Hell, but neither Charlie nor Lilith are regional rulers. Which is why, among other things, Charlie can't just void Angel's contract.
@@windwalker5765 Just as Asmodeus is both an Ars Goetia Demon AND a Deadly Sin, Lucifer is a Deadly Sin AND the overall King of Hell. So technically I'd still count Lucifer as being on another tier. Plus I was talking about in terms of power, rather than who rules Hell next and whatnot. But yeah I don't think Charlie can do anything about Angel's contract
Actually I just realized this is poison is like describing angel cause the lyrics are what's he feeling but the actual delivery of it is fun poppy little sexy showing his masked self of who he truly is so that's really cool song writing/making
Poison screams, "you didn't listen to the lyrics, did you?" energy. Yeah, all of Angel's songs are a bop, but it's all that solumn mix of accepting abuse while wanting desperately to escape from it (usually through the used of other vices).
I will say, I believe part of the reason Angel is so flirty is because he's trying to take back control. In the studio, he is helpless, forced into intimacy, but outside - at least when he's in positive company like Husk and the other Hotel patrons - he flirts freely because that's *his* choice; it's not forced, it's not coerced, but it's his decision to flirt with everyone he can, because then at least it's him choosing. It's a very common coping mechanism for people in Angel's shoes.
I think you being so genuine with all your stories, how you're just you on or off cam, and the advice you give made me realize why you're the only Vtuber I consistently watch: You're not fake. Nearly every other VTuber puts on this persona of being overly cutesy or hot to try and entice viewers, but you're just you, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Thanks for doing what you do and for being so genuine and positive, it always feels good to watch your vids :)
I think this episode also tells us about Charlie's main flaw, a combination of naive optimism and impulsivity. She set up the hotel without doing any research about what she'd need to run either a hotel or a treatment facility. She went to the meeting with the angels without taking the time to learn anything about their motivations or the details of Hell's politics. And she went to Valentino without knowing anything about him, or the relationship between Valentino and Angel. She will not succeed unless she learns to look before she leaps.
Well alastor did say "inexperienced hands" lol. U can really see that as the show goes on. I kinda love how that line wasn't just a little throw away gag, but a real criticism on her character lol
I saw someone mention this on another video, but in every scene before this Husk has thin, cat like pupils. After Loser, Baby when he’s around Angel his pupils dilate cause he’s around a friend and that’s such subtle visual storytelling but it adds so much without you even noticing at first
Alicia accidentally describing the feeling of autistic masking. ( might also fit other conditions but I only know the feeling of that specific one) I had this job that was so bad for me, I was forced to work at a social workplace and it sucked the life out of me I was in survival mode all day. And when the mask broke I felt like a monster.
I hate how a few times now when something like this happened in something you were watching you say "story time." Not because you tell the stories, but because you CAN tell them because they happened at all. That's horrible.
It’s fitting that this is the best rated and loved episode out of the released four. With the best fan loved song in loser baby. Getting a 9.1/10. What a great way to end the series of episodes leading up to the next release this week

"Loser, Baby" flew straight into my top 10 songs and has been playing on repeat since the episodes aired. So glad the tunes are available in various places. 😂
The thing is Angel could have said a lot worse to Charlie but he didn’t because he knows she means well Angel Dust is the name he gave himself after the drug that killed him
"I'm a Loser, baby" is the best song in this franchise and I cannot believe I'm saying that. (After "Look my way" no less) There's so many great things about it; "coked up dick suckin' ho?" "Baby that's fine with me" - Husk has been saying how he hates how fake he is the entire episode, and here Angel lets down his guard and husk just replies with "This is fine by me". "Lose your self-loathing, Excuse yourself, Let hope in" - I mean, I don't even need to speak, just bring attention to it, if you need to hear this; just pretend Husk is telling it to you. And the fact that Husk was one of the OVERLORDS OF HELL, THE most powerful sinners in hell, honestly, I'm kinda sad Angel didn't react at how BIG of a deal that is. And further just reminds you how powerful Alistor is.
Something I really like but haven't seen mentioned in the comments is how Angel's voice changes in this ep (I.e. It's normally high, but gets lower when he's being abused by Val & arguing w/Husk).
The main issue with abuse is that the abuser thinks there is no chance of being out of that relationship, that they can't get help, that the help will make it worse, or the help will get just as hurt or worse. So they just endure, and that can be the worst-case scenario if nothing is done. If you ever feel like this, if you are like this: get help. Someone will help you, and you can get out of it.
As much as this ep highlights how much of a complete wretched being Val is for doing what he does to Angel, it was also nice to see Charlie get mad for once even though she was stopped before she could most likely kill Val. (She legit has the power to do it.) That and this ep also highlights from Husk's view that Alastor IS a problem, the way he does things is eventually going to come to a head with Charlie due to the fact that he enslaves and exploits people, she's going to want him to release Husk at some point or Angel, due to now being friends with Husk may start to really push for it only for them to realize once again that Alastor ONLY cares about himself.
I think Angel is worried that Charli will lose her naive spirit. She grew up in Hell but doesnt truly understand how deep sinners can be. Plus shes lived a life of privilege
12:50 Probably unrelated to what's happening in the episode but I think it's already kinda obvious that everyone underestimates Charlie, but I can definitely see why. She's literally the Princess of Hell so of course she's most likely really powerful, but with that kind of personality it'll be easy for everyone to y'know? (I hope I'm using the right words rn TwT). She's definitely capable of squishing Valentino like the bug that he is, but again she's not really like that unless you somehow make her snap where she would probably not care about someone stopping her (like what Angel just did). But what do you guys think?
Charlie is most likely incapable of killing an Overlord. If nothing else if she attempted to do anything he can simply threaten to kill or torture Angel due to the contract with her being unable to stop him. She also didn't have any heaven forged weapons with her, so cant kill his soul. When he reappears ... well... I would say poor Angel would think his current abuse to be mild. Mindless violence is rarely the answer, especially when dealing with contracts.
@@mathewunknown8266 First off, remember that it's not that sinners can't die, it's that unless killed with angel-forged weapons they respawn later. Second off, there's entirely a way Charlie can stop Valentino from carrying out a threat against Angel in the short term - beat his ass unconscious, because KTFO'ed people don't contribute to the action economy. And then have Vaggie stab him in the face with her angel spear before he wakes up. Of course, it would be utterly OOC for Charlie to have someone killed in cold blood but we were discussing capability here, not motivation.
You know, I feel like if Angel hadn’t stepped between Val and Charlie Hell was about to lose an overlord. She seems cute and cuddly but Lucifer’s daughter just HAS to be a cosmic horror. Mark my words, Charlie CHOOSES not to crush Val under her foot and in one of these episodes we’re going to find out how one-sides that fight would have been.
my thinking too, she has to be very powerful, she's just generally too nice and sweet to use her powers, she doesn't want to threaten or hurt people, i definitely think she'll snap at some point though and just wipe someone from existence lol

I liked the show up to this point. But it was just good. For something I have waited YEARS for it didn't blow me away like I expected it to. It might continue to be that for me, who can say? But this...this episode...is perfect. Two insanely good songs in an episode that absolutely breaks you just so it can heal you back up again. Beautiful message, perfect episode, I have nothing but good to say about this. I hope episodes of this quality become the norm going forward.
God dammit, Alicia... Alright so I'm at 23:52 right now during your conversation about being yourself as a vtuber and not burning out. So all my life I've felt like nobody. Like no matter what I do no one will ever *really* care about what I accomplish. They like me as a person, or so I'm told sometimes, but despite putting so much effort into creative pursuits for over 20 years now I've gotten... minimal validation at best. My latest creative pursuit was to become a vtuber in June (2023) and I put on a persona. Thankfully I'm savvy, so the persona is soft spoken and low energy, there's low upkeep there. I expected to get roughly the same amount of validation as I get from *everything else I do* but that wasn't the case. For some reason my vtuber is constantly bombarded by love and affection. This is nice, I don't want the story twisted, I genuinely appreciate all the affection and support I've been receiving, but as I passed 500 followers less than 7 months before starting from nothing with no debut and no social media account at the start, I can already feel the beginnings of resentment start to form. I'm starting to feel like people don't like *me*, they just like the person I portray. So you so decisively calling attention to that made me realize why I've been so dissatisfied with making youtube videos recently despite that being something I've done and enjoyed doing since 2015. I feel seen in like the most ironic way and it hurts, XD
@@rosenrot234 I love the hints we get through both series that the overlords and sinners tend to be worse than the Sins and native born demons. We get Ozzie and Bee being surprisingly chill. Not that there aren't PLENTY of shitheels among the native demon crowd. But nobody is quite as cutthroat, viscious, and eager to fuck one another over with abused power as the human souls. Reminds me of the part in Good Omens that mentions Crowley getting credit from Hell for the Spanish Inquisition despite not even knowing it was a thing at the time, learning about it, then having to take a long shower and stare into the void over how fucked up humans are.
@@rosenrot234Oh man, Ozzie would hulk out and tear Valentino in fucking HALF if the two of them ever met. That man is all about enthusiastic consent.

I hope Val’s nature will bite him in the ass in the future. He is too used to deal with people weaker than him. Underestimating someone on the same powerlevel than himself is coming for him. Vox will not be there always to hold him back. Especially if he gets tunnel-visioned on Alastor. And Velvette doesn’t seems to want to deal with Val’s outbursts, because she is too busy as well. So I am hoping that one of his tantrums will make him go too far and pay the price.
@@meismethatisme98 That’s what I don’t understand about him. He is already one of the most powerful Overlords. All of his enemies shiver at the thought of him. He is respected by the other Overlords and has a seat in the council. Everyone else is terrified of him and he doesn’t have to sweat to stay feared and in power. So what else is there he wants to gain?
Let's be real, by all rights Valentino would have been a chalk outline if it weren't for his manipulation of Angel making it so that he'd jump in and stop Charlie
Not gonna lie. Im a grown ass 32yr old man. And this episode made me infuriated and I choked/teared up a bit. Angie did not deserve this. Neither did Charlie.😢 Husker came through for Angie and was a real fuckin G for that.
Just realized that Husk is voiced by Keith David who also played Dr. Facilier/The Shadow Man in Princess & The Frog. Husk does have that Riverboat/ New Orleans gambler feel to him. I mean obviously he’s a gambler but I could see him playing in New Orleans which is where Dr. Facilier is from. In fact Alastor IS from New Orleans and also uses shadow demons to do his biding at times.
One thing I found interesting in the "Poison" song was at the very end. As Angel is on the balcony, we see Vox and Valentino talking below. Vox is smiling as he talks to Val, then he glances over at Angel, stops smiling, and teleports away. It's a very small moment, but it seems to imply that even if Vox is enabling Val's actions, he isn't entirely comfortable with them or with the way Angel has been treated. Also, "Loser Baby" is easily the best song to come out of this show so far. Fight me.
21:27 I had a friend who that happened to. We heard the guy bragging to his friends at a party we were at talking about his “great conquest” I knew he was dead the moment he said that. Cause she walked over and in the middle of the room and said “He wishes. The moment he pulled out his LITTLE friend I couldn’t stop laughing on my way out the door.” Everyone began to laugh at the guy as he ran out of the room
Okay, story time. Just need to get this off my chest real quick. When I was 28, I dated a somewhat childhood friend of mine who said he loved me on the first date and...had very...lets just say grabby hands. I didnt know how to feel about it, just that...I felt sick being....lets just say "intimately grabbed". Like bile rising up in your throat sick. But I tried to tell him that it was making me sick, but either he didnt understand or I was ignored. And I wanted things to go good for us. Thats when the pressure for..."intimacy" began. "When are we going to do it?" "Are you ready now?". Questions like that. And I just kept saying "I dont know if Im ready.". Like a loser. It got to the point where I would come home crying because I couldnt be what he wanted and I was trying so hard to keep him happy while feeling just numb inside when we went out on our dates. He asked me to marry him, many many times. And I would say "Its too soon for that. ". The touching would continue, and I would swallow the bile in my throat if it made him happy. For his sake and maybe my breaking point had been reached...we decided to open the relationship and thats when it fell apart. I found out that he had been flirting with a married woman who kept on Rejecting his flirting, saying she was happily married and to Stop. He told her " It should have been you I was dating.". I was hurt and angry and broke up with him in person and over text. He...couldnt accept it and started showing up at my job begging for a second chance. I told him no, multiple times. Just feeling shame and guilt over letting things get to that point. Was it my fault? Yes. I take blame for what happened. I took up writing as a hobby. Something to do if I start thinking about him again. To be honest I dont know if yhe relationship "counts" as abusive or not. Bad, probably. Can someone tell me please? Thanks. Its been 4..5 years now, and Im seeing someone new that makes me happy and respects my desire for non intimacy.

The perfect way to put it
tumbler ayss comment.
in a god way but none the less.
Poison shattered me
Exactly. That's this episode in a nutshell.
This episode was rough on me emotionally, but this is one of my favorite episodes
@@UltimateGamerCC He doesn't exactly get a choice in his roles or partners, though.

Whoever wrote the line “if I end up broken, then I won’t be his favorite toy anymore” either needs a raise or therapy (quite possibly both). That line destroyed me.
Hopefully they at least have good health insurance that includes therapy...
For me that line reminds me of Taylor swift’s new album and the song my boy only breaks his favorite toys
Yeah, I think he sees a lot of his sister in Charlie, which is why he’s so protective of her
It's also tragic to know that the power scaling is way off.
That just how much he cares, not how weak Charlie is
We get to see his sister in Heaven in episode 6, so it makes sense if she was like Charlie in many ways.
Angel really does care.
Angel truly cares alot, the song _"Loser, baby"_ is truly Beautiful, saying that _"Yeah... Your life is screwed up, but you're not alone"_
Charlie is literally the Number 3 in Hells stomping list, only her mother and father being above her, and she is so pure and doesn't like to assert her (legal) dominance, she really does display both Angel sides of her Parents.
She is politically, which is what the list Viv was talking about was.
Actual power we have no idea
@@the_dropbear4392 Yes of course, some Kings or even Princes of Hell do seem pretty powerful or even overpowered, but that may be because we also haven't seen the big rulers of Hell go full tilt.
more a Nephilim, Lilith was mortal initially and Lucifer is an Angel, albeit a fallen one.
@ServantofErra
Vivzy was specifically talking about political hierarchy not power.
That's a very interesting observation. I think you might have a point.
I think I've seen this exact comment on another video covering this episode, but I'll be damned if I can remember where...
Bro I see you in every hazbnn Hotel comment section 😂😂
I saw it as how much control and power they have over the people they own. Its probably gonna be a helluva lot easier for Angel to break free than Husk.
I mean Alastor was a serial killer so being neat & calculating is in his cards 😅
i really love how this episode managed to transform husk, who so far really has been more of a background presence, both in this show and the pilot, into honestly one of my favourite characters. i really love the "old guy who's seen it all" stick he has going on, yet that doesn't mean that he magically has all the answer all the times and sometimes all you can do is accept that you have a problem and take solace in the knowledge that there are others who know what you are going through and are there for you.
He’d rather the pain be fully directed at himself than another person be dragged into it
The thing that is particularly awful is, Charlie probably was only in danger because she's so nice.
@@jimbroaudioI have a theory that the Extermination started because Charlie was born, and the 'Overpopulation' was just the public excuse.
And I guess that thought gave him comfort.
and then you realize why he has a deal with Alister
"i sold my soul to save my power"
he still has the power a minor overlord wields hes just not free to do what he used to with it
Keith David pulled out his Spawn voice when dealing with that one Shark Mobster in the bar
And then cruised somewhere between Dr. Faciler and Goliath for the song
He went hella Goliath when he was explaining his past as a overlord. Loved it. @@Mare_Man
Episode 4 really hits the feels and there is a detail I really loved from rewatch.

Now this is how you develop a character. I liked Husk for his attitude but this episode gave him such depth that I felt bad for thinking he wasn't THAT interesting of a character (like Fizz in Helluva Boss).
dude's really good at reading between the lines.

Loser Baby has unironically been helping me so much in a time of my life where I needed it most. I love this song so much
I love how Alicia is so very new to the fandom (reacted to the pilot only a month ago) and she's just as protective and cares about the characters like she's been dowsed in the lore and backstory for years.
Unfortunately no one is safe
A new few. Can't wait for all the character developments!
oooo i wonder if we'll see her full form in the last 2 eps ;O
And we got just that on the finale, and WOW her demon form nailed it
A reminder to everyone that even though she's such a cinnamon roll, she's also the *princess of hell*

@@Aqua311 well i took it more as her not understanding why there were no demons who were interested IN redemption in the first place not as her assuming the redemption process itself would be easy i do think she is naive this is a very new project and both her and vaggie are not only on a 6 month time crunch but also not sure how to exactly to go about it yet. and the creators already said that she’s not blind to the things that happen in hell and it’s not like she isn’t influence by it which is why they also noted that she still curses like everyone else im not saying she knows what she’s doin and that’s she’s going about helping people in the right way but i do think that even though her optimism makes it easier for her see the bright side in every situation she isn’t completely oblivious about the other people having harder lives than her in certain ways and she knowing when to step back and like she did when she understood angels immediate situation and how she slowed down and avoided making a deal with the radio demon i truly just think her real problem lies in getting to obsessed with helping ppl to avoid feeling like she’s failing at it like husk said to the point where she simply becomes too much or does too much. she’s seems so emotionally mature to me when shes not in her own head and simply calms down
@@parappa_is_my_rapper6557 I'll give you that. I think we need to see more of Charlie outside of the hotel.
Apparently in season 2 the V overlords will be more focused on antagonists
Hinting that season 2 will be about both dealing with heaven
But also the ones who actively help make hell terrible for millions (the overlords).
@@gabrielegenota1480He has proven throught the entire first season that he has everything needed to go into heaven
However, it seems like as long as he's chained by valentino, he won't be able to ascend to heaven.
“Watch this Chat, you can actually pinpoint the second Her heart rips in half….aaaaand Now!” 12:25 (unpause 3 times in a row)
Easily the most (intentionally) frustrating thing about Charlie is she is canonically the 2nd most powerful being in ALL of hell only being below her father Lucifer.
As strong as Alastor is, he's still below the Ars Goetia, the Seven Deadly Sins, Charlie and Lilith, and Lucifer himself
Even among the Overlords, the group in the middle of Hell's overall hierarchy of power, it's implied that in addition to being the oldest Overlord, Zestial is one of the strongest, and if you noticed Alastor's expression in "Scrambled Eggs", even he was at least a little wary of Zestial, and a bit on edge
hmm, no i didnt notice that, interesting.@@Pridam
@@UltimateGamerCC As soon as Zestial makes his appearance and greets Alastor, you can see Alastor's eyes widen, and he immediately tells the Egg Boiz to keep their mouths shut
I just gotta say, I love watching Alicia's reactions to dark things sometimes, cause she just gives such good insight on things I never would have noticed and she gives amazing advice as well.
I've been waiting for her reaction. What a heartbreaking episode.
It’s still something I have to deal with.
i have autism too and i feel you bro, i get constantly bullied because how i act and how i think, its hard for us to show our true selves because we are afraid of getting mistreated because how we are
Me too!
I'm autistic too and if you want to infodump about your special interests, go for it ❤
I'm autistic to. Masking is so damn hard, and tiering
I swear charlie was gonna tear valentino apart, and we got robbed of that. but Loser Baby made up for it and more
I hope we got robbed of that to get it back later in a really really satisfying way
This is where Charlie being nice is a major downside.
@@windwalker5765 Charlie and Lilith rank above the Seven Deadly Sins, they're second only to Lucifer himself
After Loser, Baby when he’s around Angel his pupils dilate cause he’s around a friend and that’s such subtle visual storytelling but it adds so much without you even noticing at first
25:57 Honestly it’s been a long while since I’ve hear Keith sing, that being his performance as Dr. Facilier
Let's go trauma time
Really excited for Alicia's reaction, her takes on stuff in this show is always fascinating.
See I knew it was bad between our spider boi and Valentino... But it feels like I got stabbed in the gut and the same knife severed my heartstrings.
ME TOO 😢🤧!!!!!
Alicia accidentally describing the feeling of autistic masking. ( might also fit other conditions but I only know the feeling of that specific one)
I had this job that was so bad for me, I was forced to work at a social workplace and it sucked the life out of me I was in survival mode all day. And when the mask broke I felt like a monster.
I hate how a few times now when something like this happened in something you were watching you say "story time." Not because you tell the stories, but because you CAN tell them because they happened at all. That's horrible.
The healing power of Loser Baby 🥺💙 so beautiful
It’s fitting that this is the best rated and loved episode out of the released four. With the best fan loved song in loser baby. Getting a 9.1/10. What a great way to end the series of episodes leading up to the next release this week
I just gotta say Alicia, I found you during Helluva Boss Reactions, and I quickly fell in love with your reactions, and i just want to thank you for having such a safe place for mental health issues. Charlie's more of an angel than the actual Angels.
man, when Alicia was talking about imagine how it must be to live life feeling like you have no value unless you present a specific way and are of use to others... really hits home to the experience of being NeuroDivergent and raised by ableist & neglectful parents, having to be constantly on edge wearing a mask even at home, with all the snide remarks and establishing this dynamic that I'm only worth validation if I'm burning myself out to go the extra mile doing acts of service or excelling in school, and even then not getting any validation or comfort at the end of the day anyways, making everything I do feel pointless while simultaneously maintaining this psychological need to be perfect because of the inherent dependency we all have on being shown love and care, and the crushing sense of anxiety and hysteria that kind of environment imprints onto your psyche lasting through the better part of your adulthood. I only just encountered your channel within the last week and have been bingeing your reactions to comedians and Vivsiepop's series, with a few of your other playlists set up to watch next, but damn if your tangents don't hit home and fill me with so much validation that, even as I'm healing from the trauma, is so difficult to come by
Charlie burning down TV sets is becoming a recurring theme.
This episode was such a roller coaster...
One frightening thing this episode made me consider is that I now wonder if Val forced Angel to be with the director/John right at the time of the extermination was to prevent Angel from getting himself offed; to protect his asset.
possibly, as Valentino wouldnt want his star player getting vaporized, would really make a dip in the profits.
I took it more as a "even when Angel isn't around Val. He's still around the terrible people he works with" with having that director in the pilot.
@@rosenrot234Angel is also workibg as a prostitute. its even how Charlie and Veggie met him in the comic. So, the scene in the pilot might have actually been just that... purely transactional.
Valentino is WAY more what I expected the leader of the lust ring to be like
I knew this episode was going to hit Alicia like a truck, because it hit me like one too. Thank god for that last song because I was about to cry my eyes out
I like the different tone when Angel sounds serious and it's not the flamboyant dude he's always been but the original male voice
"Loser, Baby" flew straight into my top 10 songs and has been playing on repeat since the episodes aired. So glad the tunes are available in various places. 😂

This episode CATAPULTED Husker into the number 3 spot of my fav Hazbin Hotel Chars

The thing is Angel could have said a lot worse to Charlie but he didn’t because he knows she means well
Angel Dust is the name he gave himself after the drug that killed him
I can't believe Anderson went to Hell after the Elusive Man killed him.
"My heart is happy, my heart is full" just sounded SO MUCH like Charlie's "It's not stupid, It's A GAME"
I love this episode, I mean, it hurts, but it's so well done.
let's face it, we're all a little masochistic for Vivzie's art.
It hurts so bad that the inevitable comeuppance Val’s gonna get is gonna feel SO GOOD.

"I'm a Loser, baby" is the best song in this franchise and I cannot believe I'm saying that. (After "Look my way" no less)
There's so many great things about it;
"coked up dick suckin' ho?" "Baby that's fine with me" - Husk has been saying how he hates how fake he is the entire episode, and here Angel lets down his guard and husk just replies with "This is fine by me".
Abused not abuser, mixed them up. Just saying since that's a mistake I wouldn't want to be live
As much as this ep highlights how much of a complete wretched being Val is for doing what he does to Angel, it was also nice to see Charlie get mad for once even though she was stopped before she could most likely kill Val. (She legit has the power to do it.)
That and this ep also highlights from Husk's view that Alastor IS a problem, the way he does things is eventually going to come to a head with Charlie due to the fact that he enslaves and exploits people, she's going to want him to release Husk at some point or Angel, due to now being friends with Husk may start to really push for it only for them to realize once again that Alastor ONLY cares about himself.
I just noticed that the WolfSinner hasthe same gold tooth like Angel and Valentino. Maybe that's how we can tell who soul is owned by Val?

I've been looking forward to this in such a bittersweet way! This episode was amazing to me, but so, SO hard to watch without looking away 💘

I love the hints we get through both series that the overlords and sinners tend to be worse than the Sins and native born demons.

Has the best song in the show for me hands down! Went so so hard!
Let's be real, by all rights Valentino would have been a chalk outline if it weren't for his manipulation of Angel making it so that he'd jump in and stop Charlie
I love how you can tell by the emotes who in the chat had already seen the episode
This episode is so good, and loser baby is such a good song, its my favorite in the series
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Charlie is over 200 years old.
Kratos to To angel dust : I am so sorry for what you had to do.
Kratos to Valentino : I would wish to strike you with my ax.
Not gonna lie. Im a grown ass 32yr old man. And this episode made me infuriated and I choked/teared up a bit. Angie did not deserve this. Neither did Charlie.😢 Husker came through for Angie and was a real fuckin G for that.
Plus I love how Keith David is voicing Husker. Gold. Only other voice I'd accept for Husker is Lance Reddick( God rest his soul).
Nice that they gave husk some background time in this episode
Keith David....just said power bottom. I am here for it.
I deeply hope Angel and Husk never get made into a romantic item. A wholesome platonic bromance is what they need to get better.
The rollercoaster from poison to loser was crazy. that was ONE episode.
Definitely abusive, glad you're out of this
