Thanks for the video. My first time on an airplane was in 1988 on a PanAm A300, LAX-MGGT. I was 8 years old and I got hooked on aviation. I'm a pilot today, thanks to that one flight.
The A300 always had VERY good field performance. By a huge margin this was the ONLY widebody heavy jet that could take off from the short runway at St.Thomas and legally clear the hill at the east end of the runway. The thing flew around at .74 mach, very slow, but it had GOOD field performance! It pins you back in your seat on takeoff.
@@Flies2FLLyou can find videos of the A300 taking off with out flaps, i even seen them do it themselves, although they were all freighter if i remember
@hfmaelmejor It is old! This is Airbus's biggest airliner before the A330's, A340's, or the A380! Its a medium range, wide-body airliner which competed directly with Boeing's 767. The A300 is American's workhorse in Latin America! It will be missed!
@musico81986 Did AA operate the A300-600 out of Miami??..where is the latin american hub of AA,asking because Ive flown AA A300 ince transcontinental from JFK to LAX and alos once JFK-Bermuda. Love the airbus widebodies..better then to be cramped in a B737 or MD80.
I can survive flights without onboard entertainment (Cebu pacific) (Jetstar) but I think I would prefer to have one to do something instead of look down reading a book or straining my neck while drawing on the small tray tables. But again, flying was a luxury back then.

Mine was in a 737-200 :D
@@DriverElectroLight I broke my cherry on an L1011.
Embraer E-135 for me haha
The people in the First Class cabin are so lucky to get the fat seats
Their the old AA First Class seats
Carlmaster96 those sucked
I wish American kept the A300's. They are such a good looking bird. :(
This didn’t age well
@@superskullmaster they're still good looking
It’s just such an old plane
If aa587 never happened
@@friendlysky7674 AA587 happened b'cuz the Stupid F/O who broke the rudder
The good old times of aviation !!!!

Probably helped by the low-swept wing which would also lead to a lower cruising speed as you stated.
dont forget the fact it doesn't need flaps to takeoff
@@arnoldcobarrubias6593 I've never flown one so I do not know if that is correct or not.

10 years anniversary!!! 2019!!
Sheesh yu guys were taxiing close to those hangers
Very nice!! i miss the a300's
Love A300s! I see two of them sitting at Tradewinds, and they are going to tear them down...at least American is still flying them!
Hey i Was On this flight i was on the other side of roll left wingview i was on that seat
Those were good old days
Nice takeoff
How magnificent!
awesome video!!! very clear.!
@dima78350
AAL had old planes, now they have B 737.
Nice video!
Awesome! Along with the 787, A380 and 747-8 this is an aircraft I'm desperate to fly on!
Monarch still uses them
andrew wright well most of them are retired
+Jack Frost now I think all of them are gone :(
Danny Hernandez yeah well in a way that
Ts good
777 London Flyer I think Kuwait Airways still has one or two in operation but I think they are slowly being retired.
nice video!
The first class seats are the same first class seats as in Home Alone
Nope, incorrect. Those are made out of leather, the ones in home alone were dark brown with fluffy sheepskin covers and headrests.
Better keep the camara down after the flight attendants go into the galley for takeoff then filming that what I always did.
If the crash of Flight 587 didn’t happen, trust in the A300 would be good
Isaac Babb The trust in the A300 is and has almost always been excellent. Even after flight 587. It was 100% pilot error. Abuse of the rudder.
It wasnt the planes fault
American 587s interior looked exactly like this in 2001.

AAL has very old planes: A300, 757, MD80...
757 isnt revetaly old. MD80 is also not old
Quite possibly the biggest RJ in all if existence lol.
I was on a flight 14 years later but on a319
porque no operan de nuevo los a300
eww the window's dirty! :D

Today AA operates the B737-800 into Guatemala from Miami..is that an improvement???
am1966ath Yes it is
Yeah but I will always prefer the a300!
A big downgrade from a cargo perspective.
a300 is the only airbus I like!
This was the same day as China Airlines 120 explosion

Flying hasn't been a luxury since deregulation

Love this plane, i'd be scared to fly on it though, judge me.
I would be kinda nervous too
