WildBlue Discovery Ha Ha Craig! Not better, just crazier. Yes, my saving grace was catching fish, or trust me, would’ve felt a lot colder! Thanks Craig.
I was crazy for even trying to fish that day, but still found some hungry fish willing to play. I don’t recommend trying this, learn from my mistakes, ha! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Scott Absolutely totally enjoy all your great videos. I'm a summer guy and particularly appreciate the wonderful detailed information you give especially about the menu around the Upper Delaware West Branch. Tight Lines!! Best
tooter1able Thank you so much! Actually, the last two times up the West Branch in the past month have been tough, water was great but hard to get the fish to bite, only caught a few each trip. Central PA has been fishing real good lately. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Larry McGinnis Hey Larry! You betcha! Do much better then sitting in the house. The things we do to catch a fish, HA! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Rahn Tressler Thank you! Oh yea, I got what you mean 😉, but still getting used to it, I’m sure after using it for a while, it’ll feel like a routine thing.
It’s a trade off Scott. If you strip line the water peels off on the guides and freezes. High stick tight lining, your line freezes. Either way I always have to melt exposed leader material.
Todd H Hi Todd! You are exactly right! The line was my issue that day, kept working with the same amount of line, so my guides were fine, but boy, my line would freeze up in minutes after just cleaning it, but still had a ton of fun. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Scott Lowe Hi Scott! Yea man, me neither, that was a first, when I first saw the creek, I said to myself, “This is gonna make a neat video!” Glad you enjoyed it.
Fishin Fritch Well, I don’t know about that, really love 10ft fast action rods, short heavy Fiberglas rods of yesteryear don’t enthuse me, I’ve felt the newer ones but didn’t impress me enough to try or buy one. Guess I’d have to borrow someone else’s 😉 to see what it really feels like on the stream.
Great video Scott! Lmao that’s commitment fishing in 5 degree weather 😂 I ushually don’t fish if it gets below 28 or so degrees, but 5 my fingers would have been gone 😂😂😂😂 tight lines buddy, and look forward to the next one!🎣🐟💦
balor7 Hi buddy! Was actually up there a month ago, all ready to set the world on fire, then it happened, right before I got there they upped the release from 350cfs to 850cfs, AUGH!! The kayakers loved it, I stayed and still caught five nice fish but not enough stuff for a good video. I’ll definitely get back up there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
We were ice fishing the lake. Caught 1/2 dozen pike up to 10#. Kept 2 and went home. Fish were frozen , then we heard them flopping in back cooler. We let them go in the pond by my house. In the spring there were little pike swimming in the feeder crick. Scott I’m going out to Rockies May 1st. What camera would you suggest I buy?
Tommy .Gibbons Wow! That’s a new one! Have fun with them, but I do wonder if more pike will change the other fish population in the pond? Keep a check on it, might be interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Tommy .Gibbons Oh wow, guess everything is ok then with the pond. As far as a camera for Montana, geez, I’m not the best at that, I’m not really up to date with the cameras. GoPro is up to an 8 and I’m still using a GoPro 4, ha! Sorry
Epic amount of fish for such a cold day, well done. Were the fish recently stocked? Be mindful of how long the fish are in open air at those temps, their gills can freeze in seconds and get damaged, best to keep them in the water.
Michael Capurso Hi Mike! Thank you Buddy. It was a private posted section of the creek but wasn’t stocked since August. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hi Jack! This is a private stream section, my apologies for not naming, I was an invited guest. I’m sure you understand. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Douglas Randall Hi Doug! Glad you asked, the last couple times I’ve been tying them off the eye of the hook, and after the last three trips, I still foul hooked a couple fish and still had some fish get off, maybe a teeny bit better percentage tying off the eye but nothing overwhelming, so both ways still so far performed about the same, but I’m gonna keep trying off the eyes for further results. Thanks for your question.
Downstream & Downrange Hey, Thank you! I gotta ask, and sorry if I forgot, what’s your first name? Ha! I think the title stayed true to the video, thought it would catch guys attentions. Thanks for watching.
Dude, no offense, but you should not be fishing in weather that cold. You may be able to handle it, but the gills on a fish freeze up in seconds when you take them out of the water.
Robert A. K Hi Robert! No offense taken. I don’t know what the time limit on that is, I’m sure there’s a couple other factors then just the outside temp, but I can assure you , to my knowledge, no fish was harmed, we were there for about seven hours and saw no ill effects to any fish, and the temps did come up more throughout the day. Thank you for your comment and concern.
Ice Ice baby! Your a better man than me! 8 degrees!! Wow! At least you caught plenty of fish.
WildBlue Discovery Ha Ha Craig! Not better, just crazier. Yes, my saving grace was catching fish, or trust me, would’ve felt a lot colder! Thanks Craig.

Nice video. Good to see that you got a rod holder. You sound a lot better if you know what I mean!

I have never fished with ice like that! Definitely a challenge. Lots of big brookies.
Scott Lowe Hi Scott! Yea man, me neither, that was a first, when I first saw the creek, I said to myself, “This is gonna make a neat video!” Glad you enjoyed it.
I think you need a fiberglass rod there Scott. So much fun

Hi Jack! This is a private stream section, my apologies for not naming, I was an invited guest. I’m sure you understand. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good one! Thanks for showing how to fish in freezings weather! How are you rigging your flys? From the eye or tying to the bend in the hook?
Douglas Randall Hi Doug!
