- This interview with Tom Lester, who played Eb on the Green Acres TV show from 1965 to 1971 was made in Union City, Tennessee in October of1997, to be aired on The Hinton & Collier Show, a weekly show on WHQ-TV in Murray Kentucky.
Mr Lester was my neighbor in Laurel MS. He walked the neighborhood every single day. Such a nice man. Wish there were more people like him in this country.
Eb was so cool because he continued to wear his Eb jacket, and didn't mind being associated with the show even decades afterwards.
I personally met Alvy Moore (Hank Kimball), in 1994, 3 years before he died. He was a fine man, as is the fiery Tom Lester!
Robin Williams was a HUGE Alvy Moore fan. In fact, Robin incorporated much of his tics and twitching mannerisms from Alvy into his stage act and overall persona.
I never met Hank Kimble.....well not exactly never.....more like always......he was like a brother to me......nope, I didn't have a brother, must have been a sister............come to think of it......I was an only child.....well not a child really.....more like a......

HAHAHAHA😁😸🤣🤣😂😂😹😹. Great comment. Now that I am getting older, I find myself talking more and more like Mr. Kimball.
❤️ eb& green acres& mr haney
Tom was an intelligent man. He was a teacher in true life.
GREEN ACRES is and will always be the greatest sitcom ever created. All of the actors were perfect for their characters. I had the honor years ago of meeting Frank Cady when he was in town visiting his brother, attorney Don Cady and Dons son, also an attorney, Frank.
So wonderful that we are able to watch all these programs on u-tube!
Got my vote
I just started to Watch reruns and it's been great. I'm 63 and I watched it when I was a kid and it always bugged me how they never fixed up their place And I forever love arnold
Green Acres was the funniest show ever!! I still watch it every week night on MeTV 😎
Tom Lester was genius in his role of Eb. Tom would have been a great Politician he so loved America.
Wow! He did a dead perfect impression of Pat "Mr. Haney" Buttram! I've never heard anybody do that before!
My hero ❤️ Mr Haney & Tom lester
It was Pat Butrum who said if "the rural Purge, "they cancelled every show with a tree in it," meaning all the rural shows. At the time these shows we getting high ratings
My family would watch this show together as it originally aired from 1965 until its cancellation. Still remains one of my all time favorite shows.
i have all of them on dvd ;
In the middle of the interview, he just went off, and spoke his mind!!!!!
I think the medical term is a stroke.
This was in 1997 and the reprogramming process of people's minds only started this past January .
A true American patriot.
@@northvilletunnels Hey! Don't disparage Eb!
Eb was breathin fire and nailed it to the wall.
He did all he could to live, when he lived to be 81. May he #RIP.
God bless this man.
Great guy and a fantastic character actor. May he rest in eternal peace.
I love this guy. More so after this video
Eb. Thank you for speaking your mind. RIP
Tom Lester may you rest in peace in God's kingdom for you see the light and speak the the truth! It is the year 2021 and the spiritual values and morals in the United States have declined since 1997. Very sad
Tom Lesters View on the situation in our country is spot on,if we had people like Tom Lester in office running this country,it certainly would put more of a smile on the face of our creator,GOD BLESS Tom Lester,Thank You for someone that finally displays intellect and moral value of the way things should be in our nation,Love You Tom Lester!
This is a great interview. Never knew he was from Laurel, MS and was an Ole Miss Rebel ( Hotta Toddy, Geaux to Hell Ole Miss). Seemed like a genuine nice guy and a gentleman. I have no problem with his “rant” and also hopes he Rests in Peace.
RIP, Mr. Lester. He was right about EVERYTHING he said.
wrong
He sure was
I met him and ALVY MOORE in ST. LOUIS years ago at a fund raiser it was great meeting them
You know Tom was at Alvy's home the morning he passed away of a massive heart attack, he had stayed overnight they were going to attend a golf tournament together. Yes, they were really close friends right to the end, what a great pair of guys.
Man, Eb is fiery!
wow, such a nice guy ....and very humble ......why can not others have this quality .....
listening to him , such a good insight into america morality.....was he a preacher?
Loved listening to Tom Lester in this video. He spoke the truth definitely.RIP
How in need we are today of men to stand up like this man.
Petitions are leading people to hell.
I have an interesting connection with the actor who played Eb on Green Acres. I grew up in El Paso, Texas, and my parents had a couple who were friends of theirs who owned a little Christian bookstore. They were friends with Tom Lester, who played the character on the sitcom. He came to town for a visit, and because they were busy, they asked if I could hang around with him for the day and keep him entertained. I was all of 12 or 13 years old at the time! Anyway, I spent the day with Tom and found him to be a very kind, warm and down-to-earth guy. I mean, he was willing to hang around all day with a kid, right? It's a day I'll never forget.
That was a great interview I'm glad I stumbled across this rest in peace sir. You are right.
Tom, Your passion for politics is just as intense as Mr. Douglas speech about the American Farmer. Great interview.
He knew back then the direction this Country was heading.
Can't imagine him seeing/living in 2023 USA 🤯🤯
Yes , evolving to 2023 greatness , vote blue
@@D...M...A... Makes Me Wanna PUKE!! The Hair Sniffer and Heels Up.
Just came across this video (Sunday 1/22/23). Tom really lifted my spirits (or exorcised them). I was happy to hear him talk about Alvy Moore, being a saved soul up in heaven. "It was a long life ... well, not really long ..." I loved the character he portrayed on that show. All the cast were fantastic. I read or heard that Eddie and Eva remained great friends till she passed away. After she passed away, Eddie went into a deep depression. After reading or hearing that, it made me wonder if he was always secretly in love with her. What guy wouldn't fall in love with her?
This is a great interview. I am so happy to come across this.Real refreshing interview.Tells it like it is.
One of my favorite GA episodes was when Eb took a correspondence course to become a barber.
And how about when he got himself a radio for his birthday. Classic.
Loved Green Aches. Great times!
Wow from helping and becoming family with the Douglas', to singing along with our unforgettable actor/personality. Stay safe everyone!
Tom Lester seems so sweet
God bless you Tom!
He has great ethics and a great outlook. If he was alive today he'd be so disappointed with where our American values are.
You go Eb
Eb saw what was coming way before it happened. What a legend.
Great show!! Great acting!! 😎
Eb and Mr. Haney were the brightest sidekicks ever for any show. So good to hear Tom say what is lacking ,even now more so, in entertainment, as we have slid down that pole for the last time I think.
Tom Lester said they can't show Amos and Andy anymore, and I could care less, because I have all their episodes on DVD's and watch them over and over, let's see if anybody can stop me from watching one of the funniest, greatest, most talented cast members that was ever assembled for TV.
Tom is FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!
I love Green Acres, the Best sitcom ever made, definitely the zaniest.Patt Buttram was my third cousin on my Mother's side of the family. I never knew that for years.
Yes what Tom said is the truth....about all those wholesum family shows. They were funnier than the smut crap they show today.I still watch Green Acres as much as i can.Out of the three shows.... it IS the best. And for generations to come.
Eb was my favorite. He was so sweet!
He is a wonderful man and actor.
Eva Gabor’s portrayal of Lisa Douglas was the greatest sitcom character of all time! I will die on this hill!!!!!!
Loved him in the Christmas episode of Little House of the Prarie!!😀
This interview is so right on for 2021 can't wait to meet this man in Heaven.
Sounds like a Great Man!
Love Green Acres. I still watch it to this day. I also watch every show he mentioned accept Amos and Andy...
Love that show , silly & funny as heck! Boy Eb really spoke the truth too about America and that was in 1997
1 of the best interviews ever!
It's true...opposites attract. Tom loves that character he played on Green Acres.
Wow. Hearing Tom (Eb) going off on a rant that i agree with 100% is a thing of beauty. He was my favorite character on that show.
I like the way he spoke his mind. She seemed uncomfortable. Good for him.
She wanted Green Acres talk. He did a bait and switch and started ranting. Of course she was uncomfortable.
Such a wonderful actor and human being ❤
He is telling it like it truly is
I stand with Eb!
Tom Lester was very intelligent. Seemed very down to earth and passionate for country and religious beliefs.
AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!!! PREACH IT!!
I’d Love to have the leopard couch they used in this comedy it’s so iconic. I love this show. I wasn’t born yet when this came out but I watched it every day as a toddler.❤️❤️
I am truly thankful that you got the chance to see a sample of what QUALITY family comedy television really looked like!
The Jack Benny program is another of my favorite comedies. Those were the best of times for laughs.👍
Tom would vote for you. Tom are 110% right. You sound like a great American. We need a whole lot more people in our Country just like you. You are sorely missed. You were a great man and a great person and also a very very funny actor.
I love what this guy Eb believes in. Great interview! Thank you Eb. RIP
This was 1997. Look how far down the sewer the world is today including the US for which Tom Lester was speaking about! No wonder it is all a mess. Thank you for this video!
Amen brother Tom, preach it son.
I know that Tom Lester is gone from this earth now, but I also know we will see him again some day. Tom, I will see you in the Rapture 🙋💞🙏🥰😇✝️✡️
Tom Lester sure could see our day.
He spoke at our church in Smackover Arkansas years ago. Great time.
He spoke the truth! How far we have fallen SINCE this interview!!!!
That's Evolved
Keep your religion out of politics.
I like Murray Kentucky , visit there many times in decades.
Eb for president.
En for president! You tell it En!
I really enjoyed meeting Tom Lester at this event
Green Acres was one of the best TV comedy shows ever made, right up there with Seinfeld.
His comments about this country and the direction it was heading in were spot on. If Hollywood only had more people like him now.
Now all the cast is in Heaven somewhere
hate to bust your bubble , but unless they accept Christ Jesus, then its a no to being in heaven .
@@lesliematyas1727 Shut up! Any God who would send the Green Acres cast to hell, is not a God worth serving
@@lesliematyas1727 Tom definitely had accepted Jesus and preached the Christian faith!
No they are NOT unless saved by The Faith and Salvation of JESUS CHRIST!
What a great rant that gets lit off at 8:45. Imagine what he'd say if he were alive today. I would've loved to hear him preach.
Tom Lester was way ahead of his political times, he said it clearly however. We salute all Mr Lester contributed to our culture.
Nobody agrees absolutely with what anybody says. But I agree with a lot of what he had to say. I wish I could have sat down shook his hand and had dinner with this guy. He reminds me of a good friend I had in college. He was a devout Christian, and I am a reformed Jew. He was my brother from another mother.
Ebs ❤️ or legendary tom lester
Tom. Please run for office! We need good Christian people like you!! Excellent interview. Everything you said is absolutely true. God Bless you!
God Bless this guy !
Boy, He’s telling like it is. So true, thanks for sharing 💕
He’s 1000% right!
He tells it like it is, GOD BLESS. Ypu.
Boy do I agree with him
The Best. ♥️🙏🏼
Awesome!!!!!
Dang.. I wish we had Tom Lester in the congress now! 👍
Great show ! I watch it daily every day at dinner 🙏🩷🤙
i've been watching the show in syndication, and i have such a crush on Eb. he's just my type - tall, lanky, cute and just a little dumb.
One of my favorite shows of all time. There was only one supposed "normal" character and he was overwhelmed by everyone else. Haney was the funniest followed by Eb, Mr Kimble ...aw, what the hey. THEY WERE ALL NUTZ!
I truly think it was the best written, the best acted, and the most funny sitcom of the '60s, along with "Get Smart".
Mr. and Mrs. Ziffle and Their Son Arnold.
And the actor playing the one "normal" character had the hardest job. It's more difficult playing the straight man in comedy than the zany nut. You don't get the funny lines; your humor is nearly all in your reaction to the funny lines. Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor were perfect together. Her craziness and his reactions to it.
You are awsom, ebb. On green akers and in real life. God bless you, and thank you. Your grind Dwayne!!!!!!!
HES IN HEAVEN NOW.ILL see him some day.Amen
If that is what's waiting in heaven count me out.
@@northvilletunnels Look you don't believe that is fine, I'm an atheist as well but why pee on another man's dream? Yes, I know some of them are cruel bullies and insulting, be the bigger man and bid them well.
@@dougcasey6117 Screw that. I only gave my view. It's nonsense like he was spewing that makes me happy there is no heaven. His dream is toxic as well. I seriously doubt you are an athiest based on you claim of me pissing on his dream. He already knows there is no heaven.
We have all of those shows on me-tv Indianapolis station … watch them every evening 😊
R.I.P. ,we need more men like him.
Best show ever
❤️ mr haney
Eb has to be one of the funniest TV characters of all time, as Green Acres was way out funny. The crazy humor in Green Acres was genius.
I love you brother Eb ! See you in Heaven one day ! Thanks for the laughs and memories 😊
tom kicks ass we miss you RIP
That little girl with the blue jacket had an incredible smile. I agree with EB about the nudity and even soft porn on tv. NOW it's every where. Even hard porn. Very SAD!!! The ten commandments are what should still be the rule. I agree uphold the law. God Bless you Tom for speaking the truth. Even the Republicans are bought out by corporate America. it's very sad.
Oh, my. Eb is fantastic. Enough said.
And the interviewer ain't bad either. Is that you, Fannie Flag???
Eb seems so youthful. No fats, goes to the gym, in good shape. But would die but 3 years later. What happened?
AMEN! Tom, preach it brother
Wow! May the LORD rest your soul Tom. He's really have something to preach about in these last days.
