they were formed in manchester in 1969,reformed in 2005 and are still going.Tommy Vance played this song every week on the friday night rockshow on BBC 1.been in my head ever since i just love it
George Martin actually wrote this track as the theme tune for Radio One. VDGG then picked it up and recorded their version. Still, it's a brilliant tune and VDGG sort on introduced me the prog rock.
Blimey this brings back some memories. 10pm til midnight on a Friday night, with Tommy Vance on Radio One. Incredible musicianship. Was lucky enough to see Jax live guesting with Fish a few years back, just for one song, but a real treat. And as for the drummer. Wow!
Our 30 yr old musician son bless him struggles with the sound of one instrument - the saxophone & being that I would torment him out of bed with Lemmings when his 14 yr old version wouldn’t get out of bed & he happens to be back at the old house today , I’ll show him this example of saxophone dexterity . Tommy Vance introduced their version of this magnificent tune to my generation as a segway track during his weekly rock show during the darkness of gloomy 1980 & would often get asked just what was it called & who was it by. Fabulous ❤️🏴👍
Van der Graf Generator!!!!!!!! Theme one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great, I lost the DVD with that Video, now I found it, thanks to BassLudeman and RUclips.
Yesterday in my city there was a concert of the italian prog group _Osanna_ , featuring Gianni Leone (from _Il Balletto di Bronzo_ ) and David Jackson. It was magic to see and listen Jackson play Theme One, so my wish somehow got fullfilled, since Van der Graaf Generator came in my city many years ago.
This is too awesome! Let me clarify, the fact that RUclips keeps putting old VanDer Graaf Generator stuff in my subs - THAT is TOO AWESOME! I don't understand it, BUT I LOVE IT! Keep it coming! Beyond that, YES the music is awesome!
Minha banda preferida...com td respeito as outras bandas de proguessivo....mais em se tratando de vdgg..a coiza e diferente...maravilha sonora para a alma e crescimento espiritual....gratidao
this is where the bass shows its importance. this wonderful live song was crippled. the studio song has bass and is perfect with it. Where was Peter Hammill in that work ? he could, as a great multi-instrumentalist, have played the bass
Why oh why do get Oh Mrs walker , Hello Kenneth still a BLANKING little BLANK ? Yes thank you Mrs Walker any Betty hot pots left ...Barlow vibes to this ?

Prog Rocks Masterpiece!!!
Todo mi recuerdo con este tema para un genio irrepetible: Tommy Vance, Friday Rock Show,.
One of the best bands of all time
Bloody Hell, this version is so hard to find but I've found it at last! Excellent piece of prog history - everyone should watch this....

I think more people have listened to this because of Buggernation St than one the music when it originally came out.
Yep, drove me nuts for weeks trying to think what it was
Guy Evans bringing the heat!.
2023.. Total music..in Italy,Area!

Excellent band! Absolutely great!
A great pity the organ is lost in the mix for most of the time. Great track.
Buggernation Street brought me here.
Lost Buggernation Street 4: Alf - a Romeo. Watched it yet?
@@MrWayout74 Yes. :D
@@MrWayout74 hehe great. But it’s used throughout the series as background music.
My god, the sheer energy!
Especially That Bloody Monster On Drums...
I'll keep coming back for more of the same! 🙌
this BBC Theme 0ne rocks like no other MoI!!
Love this. Classic music of the XXs.
Loveit
Bellissima era la sigla di apertura alla discoteca NORDEST 🤩🤩bellissimi anni 😢

Osanna is great, I fell in love with the music after Milano Calibro 9
Music from the dawn of time - awesome!

Same here, and the fact that the algorithm knows what we like, it just strikes me a bit "bg brotherish"!! Great tune 👌
Actually in 1967, when it was still a student band at Manchester University, although that was, of course, a completely different band then!

drummer - fire
The Title Is Quite Fitting...It Certainly Sounds Like It Could Be The Theme To Something...Perhaps A Horror Suspense Film Of That Time...
Wonderfull... Yaahhhh... 🖤❤️👊🏻🌹
Only Complaint I Have Of This Track Is It Should Rather More Have Been At 8+ Minutes Long...
this is where the bass shows its importance. this wonderful live song was crippled. the studio song has bass and is perfect with it. Where was Peter Hammill in that work ? he could, as a great multi-instrumentalist, have played the bass
Rumor has that he was late at the recording session, so they recorded Theme One without him.
Greatness! ...but where's Hammill?
Out Having Lunch... Whilst The Rest Of Band Plays~Since Its And Instrumental With No Vocals...😀😀Hes On A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers Tho...
Grandi!!!!!!! 2021
Superb tune and playing, indeed. But I'd also like to know what these tube amps in the rack behind them were.
🤘🤘🤘
Why oh why do get Oh Mrs walker , Hello Kenneth still a BLANKING little BLANK ? Yes thank you Mrs Walker any Betty hot pots left ...Barlow vibes to this ?
@SGL1963... I agree!!
22163 Lonie Centers
Geddy Lee on sax, Marc Bolan on keyboards, Kurt Cobain on drums.
Falto tu abuela!
Great musicianship, but what an absolutely awfully distasteful and priminite tune!
Don't blame VDGG for that. It's a cover track so blame George Martin who wrote it.

L' hanno eseguita al festival di Villa Pamphili . Ho avuto il privilegio di ascoltarli li e in altre cinque occasioni.
