  • See Hoonah, Alaska from a Ravenʼs aerial point of view. Soar over the waterfront of this Tlingit Native village in the Southeast Alaska Panhandle on Chichagof Island. Hoonah, also known as Huna, and the Tlingit name of Xunaa, was settled during the Little Ice Age when the original village in the Glacier Bay area was forced to relocate because of an advancing glacier that wiped out the area. Hoonah has a rich Native culture that has been thriving in Alaskaʼs harsh, and bountiful environment for over 10,000 years.

Video: This footage was made during a quick trip to Hoonah, Alaska in 2021 with an added short video clip grand opening of Xunaa Shuká Hít dedication in Glacier Bay in 2016.
Song: The Tlingit song throughout the video is the "Glacier Bay Entrance" and was sung by the students of Hoonah school, residents of Hoonah, family, friends, and others that attended the Xunaa Shuká Hít dedication.
Camera: The camera and drone used for the aerial footage was the DJI Mavic Air 2.
The camera used for the dancing was the GoPro 8.

Thanks for the Amazing video, very beautiful.
I spent 2 summers in Hoonah in 1977 and 1978 living with my dad who was a Bush Pilot for ABC airlines, which does not exist anymore. ABC was based out of Hoonah, eventually my dad got enough flight time he was able to get a job at a major airline and he was an Airline pilot until he retired a few years ago.
Back in the mid to late 70's there was very little tourist activity. I was 7 and 8 and my brother was 2 years younger than me and they just let us run all over the island by ourselves all day pretty much, or with local Eskimo kids we made friends with, swinging on rope swings, fishing, being afraid of bears etc, it was an amazing time.
