Gifted and graceful player. Garfield sobers said he had so much potential and holding rated him as the best west indies batsman. Rowe was more elegant than Richards, viv was more explosive. Such a shame that he had an eye problem.
Even Viv had eye problems in 1984 so did Lara that doesnt mean they got diminished.. Viv avg 50 for next 4 yrs even after double eye surgery..Some like Viv who relied on his reflexes that was big problem..
@@kunalsingh3121 Rowe's eye issues came from being allergic to grass. Lara and Richards had surgeries to correct physical issues. Rowe's issues couldn't be fixed.
Naturally gifted and stylist batsmen of WI , Rowe , Kallicharan , Viv Richards , Gary Sobers , Rohan Kanhai , Lara . List goes on. These batsmen have the least fright while facing even deadly bowlers
Fantastic player. Came to Australia and hit a great century in the second innings against Lillee and thommo at their best. Was averaging about 65 and had claim to being the best bat in the world at the time. Also scored 2 centuries during World series cricket and finished comfortably 3rd on the batting averages with 43 . Shame he couldn't go on with it but still played in the 1979 West Indies team which is arguably the best team of all time.
My God what a player . So graceful and great timer of the ball and I'm sure had he continued to play long he would have pushed himself ahead of the great Viv .
As Alvin the Great Kalicharran quoted "Brian Lara and Sachin Ten were great for their time" he meant a lot by saying that. To me the greatest batsmen were Sire Gary the Great Sobers, Frank Worrell, Rohan the great Kanhai, Alvin the great kalicharran, Sire Clive the Great LLoyd, Sire Viv, LAWRENCE ROWE, Gordon Greenidge, DLHaynes, Larry Gomes, because they played true cricket with gusto and bravery without a HELMET !!
He used to visit a house on the street I lived on in the late 70s to see a female friend who lived right beside Dickie Fuller who played one test for WI
Extremely gifted player was just amazing started with a bang in test cricket sadly cut short his international career due to an occuring eye problem would have been there amongst the Caribbean greats had he played his full cricket span....
May be the first one to score " triple century " ,nice ground stroke batsman, etc😁 but retired after short career due to " contact lens problem ".I read this article & heard commentary on radio.
Sir, but Lloyd did his best to not include Rowe and supported Walcott, so top persons were in forefront to destroy Rowe always twisting whatever Rowe said

Proper batter, so perfect with his shot-making, I would pay any money to watch him play live.
what a gem of player whom I read about in cricket magazines . Such a player is invaluable.

He would have taken Sir Garfield's record.
He was one of the greatest batsman in the world I remember those days in the 69 70s era,
Wish i could see more of this exciting player.

No
My favorite batsman in my era.
Viv Richards, Brian Lara,Sir Garfield and Chanderpaul were the best of my era.Honurable mention of of Greenidge, Haynes and Richardson.
Rowe and Kalli were way better than Chanderpaul
I saw Rowe made his debut against Glenn Turner and New Zealand at Sabina Park.
Yesteryears WI was the strongest team in the world n can't be denied
Franklin Stephenson - great all-rounder for Nottinghamshire in late 80's.
214 and 100 not out in his Test debut vs.New Zealand at Sabina Park in 1972.
Cricket came so naturally to thes west indian players of past era.
Beautiful cover drive. Poor Lawrence was allergic to grass!
Viv Richards & Michael Holding Favorite Batsman's , Nick Name Yagga , First 16 Test Average over 70 , But overall 43 in 30 Test Career ,
Very graceful batsman
to me, he looks like a right handed Lara, or the other-way-around !
Right
Better than Lara ,
Richards & Holding Was biggest Fan of Rowe
Nah he’s more graceful, less effort than Lara
Rowe somewhat of an enigma in west Indies cricket.
He’s a distant relative of mine, it was always cool to hear about him form my moms
This was cricket . Not what we are playing now _ players got too big for the game . Some have to drink before they play . SAD.
Sir Viv always said that Yagga was his hero: he made batting look so easy. Does anyone have footage of his 302 against England at Kensington ?
In the west indies.
मेरे विचार में लारैंस रो उस समय के सर्वश्रेष्ठ बल्लेबाज थे और अगर वोह चोटिल नहीं होते तो कई विश्व रिकार्ड बना सकते थे,
ROWE WAS A LEGEND
HIS TEST DEBUT WAS ONE OF THE FINEST EVER BATSMAN
unfortunately HIS CAREER V SHORT
OTHERWISE HE CREATE MORE BATTING RECORD S
Best batsman the world ever known

LEGEND SS 🌹🌼❤️🌿
Didn't Rowe go on the Windies rebel tour of S/A in 1983
The Rebel Tour for all intents and purposes ended his career.
Ok
Even before the rebel tour neither Clyde Walcott nor Lloyd wanted this great player
Had to, the West Indies cricket board was filled with thieves. The other countries used to laugh when they heard how much those guys got paid
Sir, but Lloyd did his best to not include Rowe and supported Walcott, so top persons were in forefront to destroy Rowe always twisting whatever Rowe said
This guy was just as good as Lara.
He was before Lara!
I know. I know him. He's from my hometown.@@overviewthem

Someone ones said if batting is a art Lawrance Rowe painted the greats picture .when we going to see Yagga Rowe 302 on RUclips.
Yagga Rowe.
He played the latest of late cuts
Is there any other batsman who makes batting look simpler than this?
Just Lara
Rowe bats with the same flair and timing of Lara
Nope. Lara bats with some of the flair and timing of Rowe.
Lawrence is a good batsman, no doubt but comparing with vivian Richards is not right, vivian Richards is an unique player in cricket history,
Viv is the greatest batsman ever.
Rowe had style and class over them, the type of player who could draw big crowds,, just watching him playing shots, I remember him batting with Viv, and the English commentator, ''I think it was John Arlott, said and I quote, he ''Rowe is out there for just under five minutes, and already one can see the difference in class'', this was comparing to Viv Richards, if you guys don't believe, too bad, most pundit said he is the most graceful and stylish batsman they've ever seen up until this day, Richards was one who thought so too, he could have been the G.O.A.T if he was not unfortunately allergic to grass and also eye problems,

Don't compare anyone with viv Richards he has his own batting technique and not a text book technique.

Yagga!
A lot like Vivian Richards
ROwe was better than sobers & Richards !
truly spot on . I am a Richards fan because saw him in my childhood but ur words spot on mate.

Maybe every bit as talented but his record does not put him quite on that level.
The stupidity of WI selectors.Other countries ban for a period. WI ban for life
