This is the bike I’ve been waiting for. Over the past few years I emailed Canfield a few times requesting they bring the Yelli Screamy back with updated geometry. I’d like to mention they always replied to me in a friendly way . I’d really like to get one though because of getting Covid and I’m now 70 my condition needs improvement. Awesome looking bike though. I’m thankful Canfield brought it back .
What makes your channel watchable for me is how you speak, i.e. you don't use flowery language/HR speak, you don't cuss, you don't use hyperbole, you don't use goofy upspeak or vocal fry, etc. You're just this cool dude who knows his stuff about bikes and passes it on.
I completely agree that that build kit and frame is an incredible value from a pioneering company. Canfield has been ahead of the curve when it comes to more aggressive bikes. I rode a Nimble 9 in 2014 and I couldn’t believe how much better than it rode compared to my Niner Sir9 I had back then. It should be a bike to consider if you are someone that is more interested in smashing the steep descents and knows a hardcore hardtail will handle most of the trails that 120-130mm trail FS bikes ride.
I had a Yelli for 10 years and absolutely loved it. The old ones were definitely super stiff though. Love that color, but I do hope they bring back the anodized options in the future. I love anodized frames. Can’t wait to watch the review!
Those are sweet bikes. My buddy just built one and he really enjoys it. I also really enjoyed it as well while I rode it. It felt like almost like a big 29” dirt jumper with a dropper post. I could even wheelie it instantly much further than my rig. You just lean back and pedal. I like Canfield.
I picked mine up at their headquarters (I live in Fruita) and they were super cool to talk to! Such a fun bike as well! It feels super poppy and playful without sacrificing stability. Only gripe is no chainstay protection.
I was *this* close to preordering this one. Went a slightly different direction, but suffering a little FOMO now watching this vid, not gonna lie. Steve, great job as always communicating to your audience your knowledge and joy of hardtails!
I can tell from here, those guys take their paint seriously! That looks like custom car shop paint. And the standoffs on the bottle cage bolts.... YES, BOYS!
Yes, i definitely will review the Maniak when it's finished. However, if you're interested info wrong a manaik before 2023, you need to order before April 1. Any orders placed after April 1 will arrive after Jan 1, 2023.
Looks pretty awesome. Looking forward to what you opinion is on the Magura Trail brakes because I was sorta looking at them as a possible replacement for my current set
Me too. From what I understand, all the 4 piston Magura brakes have the same calipers but use different levers. I’m curious what he has to say about them.
Awesome color, finish is stunning! I wish more would do the touch up paint. I frame protect all my bikes for the high target areas, but you can’t get them all if you ride in the mtns around here. I hate trying to match with nail polish or from the model shop. Hope the bike rides well!
Looks sick! I just got the Nimble 9 frame recently, the YT video definitely doesn't do justice to Canfield's sparkly paint jobs Looking forward to hear how the ride quality is
I bought mine based off your recommendation in Patreon! I love it! And I love it in my rocky tech LOL I got mine with ride fast carbons! Your recommendation to get this was spot on! It's good in the flow but no works great in the chunk too without beating me up ... But since the first ride holly cow! It sure climbs like a goat! Crushed the arrest climbs in my local area!
Congrats on your 50K Well deserved! Steve Would you also be able to provide advice through Patreon service on a bike/frame that you haven't tested yet ? I'm considering subscribing to your Patreon as I need advice on which frame to purchase next.
Really? I just got a Big Al frame from CRC and no touch up paint. I even looked through the box again when I read this, but no paint. Ah, it's all good though, I already covered it with frame protective tape. Oh yeah - Steve's review absolutely influenced my decision.
Beautiful bike. Kind of reminds me of my 2000 Kona Chute with the shaped tubing. It was a bruiser of a bike and stiff as hell but could get up and over things easily. Looking forward to the ride review. Thanks HP.
Hi Steve excited for this ride review, any opinion about the MRP fork that comes spec’d on the complete bike online? I was looking for the Helm build but having trouble finding it. My guess is that the Hardtail Party crowd made a run on Yelli Screamys
I'm not really into purple, but that is one sexy looking bike! I don't need one, but you kind of made me want one! I guess I'll just have to keep humping around on my boring old Banshee Paradox. I should probably quit watching your channel, or I'm going to end up with about 10 to 20 hardtails.
I'm working on it. I like to ride these bikes a few times before reviewing them, to make sure I really know them. If you can't wait and you need my input on this bike right away, you can become a bike consultation patron and get the inside scoop
That's a pretty sweet spec! And while I don't love purple that paint job is actually pretty nice. I'm definitely curious about the ride quality as it looks stiff, but as they say looks can be deceiving...
I would love your opinion on a Philippine Brand Frame: The Kens Tyrann X1. The frame is ridiculously cheap yet has progressive geo for the price. Hopefully you have some Pinoy friends that can import you a frame. I would love to get your opinion outside the Philippine market and how it compares to other frames you've tested.
what I don´t understand: How did you get the bike for 3200 USD with these components? Especially with the SRAM GX... I only see the bike for minimum 3600 USD and it doesn't even come with a SRAM Group... canßt believe the prices increased that much in only 6 months!
Prices are increasing extremely fast. I mean, fuel prices went up 25% in a month. That's going to affect everything else. Sadly newcomers to the sport wont be able to afford a decent bike soon.
@@hardtailparty I‘m into economics (I studied IBA). But 400 USD is way above… after adjusted for price it might be even more than 400 USD 😬 Highest inflation rate in US was in june about 9,1%.
@@hardtailparty I see :) I’m just wondering! By the way: I love your reviews and I very often just watch the videos (when I’m not interested in the reviewed bike), because of these beautiful trails you are riding in Sedona. ☺️ Keep on with that great work!

Kind of crappy that a 2.6 won't fit since they advertise a 2.8 to fit. They overstated the tire size compatibility on the Nimble 9 too. Really hate when companies you can't test ride do that
If motocross head angles are around the 62.5° - 64° range, then why shouldnt mountain bikes? I used to think anything slacker than 66° was pointless, until i rode a 63.5° and had zero discomfort climbing.
Dh bikes are in that range, and even some hardtails. I think speed, power, the size of the jumps they're hitting, and the steepness of the trail all come into play.
We hit 50k today! Thank you SO MUCH everybody!
Congrats Steve!
Congratulations
Congrats - everyone who asks me about what hardtail to buy gets sent right here for reviews.

Yes, see video
I'm curious what the issue was with the helm. How you identified it, and how will helm fix it?
Yes, it's covered under warranty. The negative air spring adjuster was sticking.
Geo Meter! Glad to see it coming out! Looking forward to the ride review!
Hmm, their website says max rear is 29x2.8. Could this be setup with 27.5+?
Great content and you seem like a very nice dude. You got a subscriber, greetings from Mexico !!

Ragley also ships touch up paint. At least, my Big AL came with a bottle. Good thing too since I managed to chip the head tube.
Nice! They didn't give me paint or the internal cable cover for the inside of the down tube. : (

Same color of my bike. Not the best head tube badge tho. Ragleys is prettier
We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. ;) I do love Ragley's headbadge though.
I just don't like the "kink'd" top tube. It's not aesthetically pleasing. Orher then that, it's sweet
Me either. I'm super into modern straight line bikes.
