A1. ABSOLUTELY CLASS. OLD SCHOOL. I've been in the building trade for 27 years. It knocks me sick the standard and what is accepted these days. For the money thats paid or charged. When I did my 4 year Apprenticeship. The blokes worked like mad for £40 pounds a day. I was earning £1 an hour. Great times looking back. It's always great work. Dean.
Started my apprenticeship in 1972 , first trowel was a WHS. lol London pattern. 11 inch. Second trowl was a 13 in brades. Eventually went back to WHS. until marshelton bought out those lovely handles. 😅 ,I have to say it’s lovely seeing someone with proper skills doing a gauged arch though respect
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 I’m hitting retirement in June. My dad who sadly passed away in November was also a bricklayer. 91 years old and despaired at the workmanship he witnessed in later years, masons incidentally can be traced back to the 1700’s in my family. Ends with me as my daughter has more sense lol , lovely work you turn out. Never be out of work with that level on care , good luck for your future career
I'm a 50yr old advance craft plaster, craft is graft hand skills can't be taught in the classroom, bro great song but my trade my song is peter Gabriel "in your eyes"
Thats just incredible. I have been a chippy for 23 years and learnt from my father. My uncle on the other hand was a bricklayer and you both set everything out and so everything the same way. But I have never seen what you are doing in this video. I would love to have a chat with you some time not because I'm a bricklayer but I would like to understand how that was set up. Im a strong believer in making the next trades life easier and i would love to pick your brain on this. Thank you
My grandfather was a master builder. He showed me one of his trowels which had WHS on it… He said it meant “Work Hard or Starve”… After he died I wanted to find one of his trowels to keep, but someone had thrown them all away… But I know he would have been pleased to meet a fellow bricklayer
Allo mate ..marigolds ..steel feel the brick nicely, waterproof and if u get any mortar on them just wipe clean ..add a. It if medicated talcon powder Look after them hands whilst working with lime
I was taught paving falls by a ground worker .The principles are similar. THE LINES ARE YOUR REFERERENCE, WITHOUT THEM YOU ARE WORKING BLIND ! . Wise words and i never forgot! ❤
My father was a master craftsman. He was very strict .I started at 8 years old only weekends .A attention to detail .The little things will make u a master. I'm now 55 and I'm still learning plasterering

Great 💡 learnt something about my trade tonight at 12 at night ❤almost
Nice trick using the vertical plum bob.
I wish more architects would incorporate more masonry details in their drawings. A shame to let this art die.
